Chapter 782 -712: A Long Spear is a Good Thing

It was already a Demon King, yet it still fell apart. This showed that the Skeleton King held nothing back against its former subordinate.

It was an absolute beatdown, intended to kill.

“Cleaning house” wasn’t just an empty threat.

Feng Linjie, who was sitting cross-legged, was overjoyed. ‘So this skeleton that always looks for an easy score finally gets what’s coming to it,’ he thought.

He would just watch the show and not interfere. Of course, if Tu Xiao’an ordered him to, he would have no choice.

But Feng Linjie could see that Tu Xiao’an wanted to temper his Skeleton Monster. If it proved to be a disappointment, then it would be better to just get rid of it.

It was as the saying goes: the master opens the door, but you must walk the path yourself.

If you relied on others for everything, there was no point in even existing.

“Get up. Go back and fight.”

Tu Xiao’an calmly looked at the fleshless skull at his feet and kicked it over to the pile of bones nearby.

WHIMPER WHIMPER WHIMPER…!

The massive skull let out a strange cry, full of reluctance.

But it had no choice but to start reassembling.

Just then, Tu Xiao’an couldn’t help but wonder why so many stone statues had manifested as Skeleton Monsters when they entered, and why the Skeleton King had appeared to block their path.

He knew for a fact they weren’t the first group to come here.

‘When Luo Ziyun and the other War Gods charged in earlier,’ he mused, ‘did these statues not manifest? Did the Skeleton King not come out to stop them?’

‘If it had, this whole scene wouldn’t be happening now.’

‘Was their group so powerful that the Skeleton King didn’t even dare to come out, simply letting them pass?’

‘Or was there some other reason?’

As Tu Xiao’an pondered this, the Skeleton Monster continued to reassemble with painstaking slowness. In the distance, the Skeleton King was seething, its body emanating a grim, murderous aura. A tide of Evil Qi washed over the surroundings.

A long spear suddenly flew from its grasp, shooting toward Tu Xiao’an. A shadowy Black Dragon followed in its wake, roaring to the heavens as it lunged forward to attack.

Hmm?

Tu Xiao’an watched as the extraordinary long spear flashed before his eyes, poised to run him through before the Black Dragon devoured him.

The corner of his mouth curled into a slight smirk. His bewitching eyes narrowed, a red glint flashed from his Snake King’s Eye, and in an instant, space itself froze solid.

All the power carried by the long spear instantly dissipated. It froze in mid-air right in front of Tu Xiao’an, as if someone had slammed on the brakes.

ROAR…!

The Black Dragon, however, continued its terrifyingly ferocious charge, roaring as it lunged.

BOOM!

The roaring Black Dragon suddenly exploded, blown apart by a single punch from Tu Xiao’an. It disintegrated into a beam of starlike motes that flowed back into the long spear.

‘Hmph. How absurd,’ Tu Xiao’an thought.

Tu Xiao’an snorted. He was a Snake; his specialty was beating up Dragons. It didn’t matter what kind of Dragon you were—you’d best not act tough in front of him.

Besides, this Black Dragon was just an Artifact Spirit.

Tu Xiao’an stared at the long spear before him. Up close, it was exquisitely crafted and contained boundless power. One glance was enough to tell it was a fine item, a true treasure.

As the Skeleton King’s personal Weapon, it was naturally extraordinary—at the very least, it was in no way inferior to his own Heaven Swaying Sword.

The long spear trembled and twitched. In the distance, the Skeleton King was making a grasping motion in the air with its bare hand, trying to recall its Weapon.

But it failed. The long spear wouldn’t return.

“Want your spear back?” Tu Xiao’an asked with a smile, looking at the distant, black-armored Skeleton King.

The Skeleton King was utterly shocked. It stared at Tu Xiao’an in disbelief, even though it had no eyes.

“Don’t get distracted. Kill my skeleton first, then we’ll talk.”

Tu Xiao’an said coolly, reaching out and grabbing the long spear.

The moment he grabbed it, the long spear erupted in a violent struggle.

An exclusive weapon could only be touched by its master.

It was like an incredibly chaste maiden who wouldn’t let any man but her beloved so much as touch a single strand of her hair.

But who was Tu Xiao’an? He gripped the rampaging long spear and applied more and more force, even unleashing his Ice Frost Power. A deep blue aura enveloped the weapon’s entire length.

In an instant, the exquisite long spear was encased in a thick layer of Frost.

It fell still.

ROAR…!

The long spear had fallen silent, but a Dragon’s cry echoed from within. Tu Xiao’an looked closer and saw the image of a Black Dragon carved into the weapon, and it was roaring at him.

“Quiet down, little guy,” Tu Xiao’an said with a smile, looking at the Black Dragon on the spear. “Believe it or not, I can snap this spear in two. And if I do, I’m pretty sure you’ll cease to exist, right?”

His words were laced with menace.

Instantly, the long spear seemed to lose all its spirit. It fell completely silent, not daring to act up again.

“Give me back my spear!”

The Skeleton King never imagined its spear could be controlled by another. Its eighteen-meter-tall, black-armored body leaped forward with unparalleled ferocity, smashing a fist toward Tu Xiao’an.

“Did you not understand me? I said, kill my skeleton first.”

Tu Xiao’an moved like a phantom, vanishing in a flash and throwing a punch of his own.

The bones throughout the Skeleton King’s body made a series of sharp CRACKING sounds. It was sent flying backward, slamming hard into the rock wall at the side.

“Not bad. Quite a bit of power.” Tu Xiao’an landed and shook out his hand. ‘Too bad,’ he thought, ‘the Skeleton King’s strength is nothing compared to mine.’

Having just eaten the core of a Centipede Monster, Tu Xiao’an’s strength had risen yet another level.

It was only natural that the Skeleton King would be sent flying after clashing fists with him. The surprising part was that it hadn’t fallen apart.

It was likely thanks to the black armor it wore.

That armor was clearly no ordinary item; it was a treasure on par with the long spear.

“How long are you going to take to reassemble? Believe me, I, your master, can leave you like this for the rest of your existence.”

Tu Xiao’an turned and said speechlessly, looking at the bones that were slowly reassembling on the ground.

‘This cunning skeleton is trying to use me to do its dirty work.’

‘It’s just trying to ride my coattails.’

The moment Tu Xiao’an finished speaking, the scattered bones instantly finished reassembling. The Skeleton Monster whimpered at Tu Xiao’an in a fawning display.

“It’s lost its long spear, and it took a punch from me. If you still can’t beat it, then you might as well just die. You’re a waste of air.” Tu Xiao’an looked at it with an expression of utter disappointment.

The Skeleton Monster picked up its nearby axe. The blade glinted coldly as, with a sudden surge of confidence, it charged toward the Skeleton King.

That was right. A Skeleton King without its long spear no longer seemed so terrifying.

Feng Linjie sighed to himself. ‘Isn’t that cheating? I thought the plan was to let them fight one-on-one, but he still ended up helping.’

The Skeleton King, still dazed from being sent flying by that punch, had yet to recover its senses when it saw the traitor charging, brandishing an axe and letting out strange whimpering cries. Its killing intent flared. It made a grasping motion with its hand, only to remember its long spear had been confiscated. It had no choice but to meet the attack bare-handed.

It had to be said, the Skeleton King was truly powerful. Even without its long spear, it wasn’t at a disadvantage. Its armor took direct hits from the Skeleton Monster’s axe without issue, suffering only shallow marks at most.

The Skeleton Monster coveted that armor.

If it killed this king, the armor would be its.

“Let’s go.”

Tu Xiao’an said to the still-seated Feng Linjie.

To be honest, he had no interest in watching anymore. It was a complete waste of time. If his Skeleton Monster still couldn’t win under these conditions, then it deserved to die.

He stored the Skeleton King’s long spear—a fine prize—directly into his system, then walked past the area where the two giant skeletons were fighting.

The Skeleton King watched Tu Xiao’an and Feng Linjie walk past. It wanted to stop them, but it lacked both the will and the strength.

It could only pretend not to see them, letting them walk on toward the manor.

It had to focus wholeheartedly on dealing with this traitor to the skeleton clan.
