Chapter 110 - 86: Forcefully Slaying the Ox Demon, a Blood-Red Sunset

  • Next Chapter

Ox Demon indeed stopped in his tracks, his expression fierce and gloomy.

SWISH!

In his moment of distraction and astonishment, a silver Big Spear thrust out from nowhere. Its chilling gleam rippled like water. At the critical moment, Ox Demon tilted his head, dodging the strike. However, it still left a mark—a hideous wound that looked like a fleshy centipede.

Ox Demon touched his cheek, brought his fingers to his lips, and gently licked them. Suddenly, a look of utter disbelief surfaced on his face.

"Truly a fine technique. If you were allowed to grow, you would definitely become a threat. But now... you are too weak!

"You little brat... you’ve angered me!"

Looking as if he had gone mad, he charged in the direction the Big Spear was retracting.

A sharp glint flashed in Xu Guang’s eyes; now was the time! He had waited too long.

"Repel!"

Like a thunderbolt exploding within the cyan mist, an eerie, infrasonic-like ripple stirred up ring after ring of shockwaves. Yet, in the blink of an eye, it felt as though a pair of invisible hands gently smoothed through the air.

Bloodline—Soul Summoning!

Simultaneously, Xu Guang let go of the Big Spear, stepped forward, and widened the Blood Eye on his glabella.

Divine Might!

At the same time, a hazy gray airstream burst forth from the Blood Eye, as if it had been waiting for a long time. The Death Qi stolen from slaying the Profound World’s Heart-devouring Demon finally unleashed its power!

At this moment, the two Bloodline Powers—Soul Summoning and Divine Might—seemed to trigger a chemical reaction, multiplying their potency. However, his normally infallible crowd control barely affected Ox Demon, lasting for merely the blink of an eye.

But that was enough! The gray airstream clung to Ox Demon instantly, like a relentless parasite.

A terrifying scene unfolded. Ox Demon’s massive body began to tremble slowly, then violently, as if he had been splashed with concentrated sulfuric acid.

"Profound World Death Qi! Damn it, it’s Profound World Death Qi! How can you use Profound World Death Qi?!" Snapping out of his daze and realizing what was happening to him, he roared in an unnatural panic. This was the Profound World’s method of purging Profound Seeds! How could Xu Guang control it?

Naturally, Xu Guang wouldn’t answer his question. He swiped his fingers across the Big Spear. Acting as an extension of his arm, the weapon transformed into a sharp arrow, carrying four different types of Power as it pierced straight into Ox Demon’s heart.

"When a Sensing Profound expert dies, it looks the same as when a normal person dies." His tone was remarkably earnest, as if he were conducting some kind of scientific research.

Ox Demon wailed in agony, entangled by the Profound World Death Qi and pinned to the ground by Xu Guang’s Big Spear. His contorted body kept twitching.

"Someone... someone will... avenge me!"

Xu Guang couldn’t be bothered to listen to such words. This threat was even less intimidating than the one left by Pang Hong’s toes.

Sensing his Blood Refining speed, he carefully searched Ox Demon’s body. Since the guy’s clothes had burst upon his transformation, there was hardly anything useful left behind. The only exception was the greater half of a drop of Blood Seal within the Blood Eye, emitting an eerie demonic light. The surrounding Essence Blood avoided it like the plague, completely unwilling to approach.

Meanwhile, the Ghost Hair that had previously scattered around slowly converged toward him like Black Shadows.

With a look of disgust, Xu Guang tossed the broke loser aside, retracted his cyan mist along with the few surviving strands of Ghost Hair, and walked over to the corpses of the Feiyun Guards.

The Blood Seal wasn’t intact; it looked as if a portion of it was missing. Xu Guang knew the reason. Ox Demon was a Mutated Sensing Profound expert, meaning a part of his body belonged to Demon Fiends. Naturally, a part of his Blood Seal also belonged to them.

To his slight surprise, Song Tao still had a breath of life left. As for the others... they were dead. All of them. Even his Cyan-Scaled Horse was injured.

Li Xiao and Yan Niu had both died in the plaza. Most of the remaining brothers of the Bengzi Camp had also met their end at Ox Demon’s hands. He let out a sigh.

A hint of worry appeared in his eyes as he looked toward the City Guard’s Mansion. Duan Jue was indeed still alive. He just didn’t know the exact condition of the man.

Sealing Heaven... it sounded like a term that demanded an extremely heavy price. But in the city right now, Sensing Profound experts represented the true peak of Combat Power. Even though he was invincible within the Refining Viscera realm, slaying Ox Demon was a fluke, a narrow escape achieved only because his opponent had underestimated him, grown disoriented, and a host of other factors.

By now, the other Sensing Profound experts in the city were likely still adapting to this change. Thus, this was the best time to leave.

He let out a long whistle. A rumbling came from the ground as the Mountain Armor Monkey dug a tunnel out of the rubble.

He squeezed out a few drops of Essence Blood and fed them to the two beasts, then placed the unconscious Song Tao onto the horse’s back. Just as Xu Guang was about to leave, he spotted the woman who had chased him across the river earlier.

This woman was with Ox Demon. Although he couldn’t see her face, a strong premonition arose in Xu Guang’s heart. However, the distance was too far, and chasing her down would waste precious time. After some hesitation, he abandoned the idea.

By killing Ox Demon, he had caused a massive commotion. The people in the city would definitely focus their attention on the city gates, so escaping through this tunnel was his only option.

In the distance, Jia Ying moved swiftly, sprinting relentlessly across rooftops and eaves as if she had encountered some unimaginably terrifying monster. It was too horrifying. Lord Ox... Lord Ox had actually died just like that!

Xu Guang’s face was deeply branded into her heart, transforming into a living nightmare.

Xu Guang looked at the statue of Duan Jue, which had seemingly appeared out of nowhere in the distant plaza. His expression remained calm.

Duan Jue was close to him, so he had heard many stories about the man. These included tales of State Chief Lin Yu and the man known as Yellow Heaven Zhang Qing.

Years ago in the imperial court, Duan Jue had publicly accused the powerful official Ming Xiaochen, furiously berating him for monopolizing military and political power. He had even used a very grave phrase: "He harbors treasonous intentions."

The outcome, of course, was that Duan Jue was banished from the court and made the City Guardian of Qing State’s Feiyun City. Ming Xiaochen remained Ming Xiaochen—the Regent King of the Great Qian, dominating the imperial court with a proud laugh while holding a tight grip on the military and politics.
