Investing in My Wife: But She's Already the Strongest!
Chapter 78: Luis White
The Governor was left speechless by Enzo’s response.
He wondered if young people these days were always this disrespectful toward their elders.
"Neighbor, are you going to take your anger out on an innocent person like me?" Alice asked, realizing that no one was going to help her.
The others weren’t sure why she kept calling Enzo her neighbor.
However, her composure and unchanging cheerful attitude only made them admire her even more.
Countless people took out their phones to record the scene.
"So you consider yourself innocent?" Enzo asked.
"I haven’t done anything illegal. I’m simply playing my role as a woman, and I genuinely don’t know where Big Bro Oliver is. He told me to come here first and said he would join us later," Alice replied, a smile spreading across her beautiful face.
Enzo furrowed his brows at her answer.
It felt as though he were talking to someone who had no emotions, only instincts.
After thinking for a moment, he released her, dropping her back onto the sofa.
Pa! Pa! Pa!
Suddenly, loud applause rang out.
"How impressive! A man who was fortunate enough to change his fate with a woman’s help turns out to be a womanizer who bullies women. Lady Stanley, I’m truly amazed by your ability to choose men."
The voice echoed from the staircase that led directly to the rooftop, since the building itself had only one floor.
It wasn’t Oliver Green’s voice, so Enzo turned toward the staircase with a frown.
He saw two white-haired men, one young and the other appearing to be in his mid-thirties.
He recognized the younger man. Dilan White.
The older man looked somewhat like Dilan, but he didn’t seem old enough to be his father. Unless, of course, he had somehow slept with a woman at a young age and fathered a child as a result.
Just looking at him made Enzo feel as though a terrifying power was staring straight at him.
He wouldn’t go so far as to call this man a Lord of Earth, but even a Giant probably wouldn’t give him such an intimidating feeling.
Moreover, the man dared to speak directly to Miya, so he must possess considerable strength.
Enzo simply hadn’t expected to see someone from the White Family here.
They had come all the way from New York. The White Family must have their own reasons for making this trip.
As for Oliver’s research, a Cultivator Family whose influence nearly rivaled that of the Main Families naturally wouldn’t care much about it. The stronger Cultivators became, the more they understood that ordinary humans couldn’t simply acquire such power overnight.
Enzo certainly didn’t believe they respected a governor who lived so far from their own territory that much.
"Luis White..."
Someone quietly murmured his name.
However, Miya simply ignored the man’s words.
She casually sat down on the sofa at her table, picked up an apple, and began eating it.
Luis White furrowed his brows in displeasure at being ignored. However, if talking was useless, what else could he do?
Challenging her to a fight was obviously out of the question.
The only reason he had dared to speak so boldly was because he had the ability to escape. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have said those things in the first place.
Meanwhile, Gracie sat beside Miya, remaining calm as she glanced around the room.
She deliberately avoided Dilan’s gaze when he looked in her direction.
Their affair would practically be impossible to continue now that she had chosen to serve Miya in order to preserve her power as a Giant.
Enzo left the military officials’ table, leaving them with no choice but to keep watching him with displeased expressions.
He headed over to Miya’s table.
Naturally, the other sofa beside her was empty. Aaron and Eva knew better than to sit there. Eva even remained standing.
As soon as Enzo sat down, Miya reached out and touched his hand.
"No need to rush. You’ll still have a chance to beat him up later. Once he loses his zombies, you can beat him to death," the woman said.
"Little sister, perhaps we could obtain more information if Alice Howard were on our side..." Aaron suddenly interrupted.
"What? Are you incapable of gathering information on a Level 4 Spiritual Warrior she recruited?" Miya asked, her brows drawing together sharply.
His suggestion seemed to have made her particularly uncomfortable and irritated.
"Little sister, it’s not as simple as you think. Oliver keeps increasing the number of Giant zombies, too. Based on my estimates, he’s already deployed them in many other cities. He’s preparing all of this to ensure his own survival," Aaron explained.
"Hey, are you planning to come up with another one of your despicable schemes?" Miya narrowed her eyes at him.
"Come on, why do you think your big brother is such a terrible person? I thought of a good plan, but we might need Enzo’s help to get close to that woman and persuade her to switch sides."
Enzo: "..."
"Little sister, I’m sure everything will work out. Besides, Enzo is clearly unaffected by that woman’s beauty. If anything, he’s the one who can keep her under control," Aaron quickly continued explaining.
"Why don’t you do it yourself?" Miya replied coldly.
"Me?" Aaron smiled bitterly. "I’m not as charming as Enzo. A woman like Alice wouldn’t be interested in me unless I could give her plenty of the things she wants. Besides, Enzo and Alice are around the same age. When I hired her to approach Enzo, she was actually very enthusiastic about it. She even said that Enzo was exactly her type. Although this woman is incredibly cunning, I think Enzo can outsmart her. Little sister, we really need this plan."
"Mr. Stanley, do you really think this will work after I humiliated her?" Enzo finally spoke up.
Of course, he disagreed with the idea.
"You can apologize to her first," Aaron replied.
"Ridiculous," Enzo said.
"Fourth Brother, forget about this ridiculous plan of yours," Miya added firmly.
