Investing in My Wife: But She's Already the Strongest!
Chapter 75: Crash
He had robotic legs, yet he was still sitting in a wheelchair. Enzo wasn’t sure why he still couldn’t walk.
"Uncle Wilson, it’s been a long time. How have you been?" Miya asked in a relatively friendly tone, something she hadn’t even shown when speaking to her own father.
Since she called him Uncle, the old man was probably still a relative of hers.
"Miya, of course I’m doing well. The medicine you gave me a year ago has really put an end to my aches and pains," the old man replied casually. He even called Miya by her name, showing just how close they were.
"This young man must be your husband, right?" He looked at Enzo.
"Yes..." Miya nodded slightly with a smile.
"Hahaha, you two make a perfect match." The old man laughed.
Enzo couldn’t help feeling awkward.
Nevertheless, he gave the old man a slight bow.
"Greetings, Uncle. I’m Enzo Muller," he introduced himself.
"Young man, remember never to anger your wife, or she’ll make you wish you were dead," the old man advised him.
"Ahem, Uncle, you’re quite the joker..." Miya immediately interjected.
"Anyway, how’s the repair work progressing? Have you managed to get any part of it working yet?" she asked, looking at the UFO.
She was clearly changing the subject.
"Unfortunately, not yet," the old man replied calmly.
"Every component contains an incredibly complicated mechanism. However, we’re getting closer to repairing one of the engines. If we can get even a single engine working, the others, including the main engine, will be much easier to repair. At the very least, we’ve now figured out how to completely disassemble every component."
"Are there any specific materials you need?" Miya asked again.
"Not at the moment. The materials we need aren’t so rare that you’d have to look for them yourself. I can contact Aaron and the others if I need anything," the old man replied.
"Uncle, we’ll provide whatever you need as long as this spaceship can be made operational again," Aaron said in response.
"All right, we only stopped here to land. We shouldn’t disturb the mechanics, so we’ll be leaving now," Miya said.
"Go ahead. The car is already waiting outside." The old man gestured to the head of security, instructing him to escort them out of the building.
They headed toward the heavily guarded exit.
The entire structure was essentially sealed off from the outside.
"Lady, I had no idea the Stanley Family owned a UFO," Gracie remarked with a smile, gazing at it in amazement.
However, Miya seemed far too lazy to respond.
By the time they had descended from the rooftop to the courtyard, the sky had already begun to darken.
A white limousine was waiting for them in the courtyard, all its doors already open. Standing beside it was the driver, a young, fairly handsome man with blond hair. He maintained an elegant posture and greeted them with a bright smile.
"Lady..." he greeted Miya.
Enzo knitted his brows, finding the man annoying because he seemed eager to attract her attention.
"Aaron, you drive," Miya suddenly said.
Aaron was a little surprised, but he quickly understood.
"Go home by taxi," he told the driver, patting him on the shoulder.
In front of him, Miya gestured for Enzo to get in first.
It was similar to the limousine that had taken them away after their wedding. Enzo sat in the rearmost seat, followed by Miya.
There was another row of seats in front of them, facing backward.
Naturally, Gracie and Eva sat there.
After taking her seat, Gracie continued glancing at the driver from time to time, then looking at Miya.
However, perhaps because she’d been told to be quiet earlier, she didn’t dare say anything.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a wall of light appeared between the two rows of seats. It was dark purple and completely blocked their view of one another.
Enzo couldn’t help being surprised. He looked at Miya strangely.
The woman took his hand and leaned against him.
"Are you ready to travel around the universe someday when that UFO is finally repaired?" she asked jokingly.
Enzo found it difficult even to process the question.
"Did you acquire it yourself?" he asked.
"I did." Miya nodded.
"Where did you get it?" Enzo asked again.
If there was a UFO, that meant aliens existed, too.
However, when he asked her about it, Miya merely smiled and pulled his face closer to hers.
Enzo wasn’t sure why she refused to tell him, but since she wanted physical contact, he wrapped his arms around her waist first.
No matter how close Gracie and Eva were sitting to them, there was no way they could see through Miya’s power.
BANG!
Enzo was just about to kiss Miya when the car suddenly came to an abrupt stop and shook violently, throwing their bodies forward and nearly making them fall.
Miya immediately returned to her seat and dispelled the wall of light.
They fared much better than Gracie and Eva, who had actually fallen to the floor.
The limousine hadn’t collided with another vehicle. It had crashed straight into a large tree on the sidewalk.
"Fourth Brother, what the hell was that?" Miya asked Aaron, who also looked shocked.
She turned to look at him.
"I don’t know! The car suddenly swerved on its own. I couldn’t stop it in time because we were moving so fast," he replied.
Enzo rolled his eyes at that explanation.
Sabotage.
They had actually been sabotaged.
Who would dare do something like this?
Since the accident had happened in the middle of such a busy city, curious onlookers immediately surrounded their limousine.
Fortunately, all the windows were heavily tinted, making it impossible for anyone outside to see inside.
Aaron probably felt too embarrassed to get out.
He reversed the car, which, fortunately, was still operational.
With its front hood already torn apart, the limousine surged forward again.
Whoosh!
The hood flew into the air as the car picked up speed.
It hung in the air for a moment before crashing down in the middle of the road.
"White limousine, pull over immediately!" A loudspeaker blared from a nearby police car.
Naturally, the police were giving chase.
However, a single glance from Miya was enough to bring the police car to an immediate halt.
