Chapter 194: Ron vs Dmitri (2)

Ron was thrown sideways.

His boots struck the ground several meters away.

He quickly recovered his balance, but the clothes covering his upper arm had already been torn apart.

Blood slowly appeared beneath it.

Dmitri noticed the wound.

"Too fast to hit, eh?"

Ron glanced toward his shoulder, then looked back at Dmitri and chuckled.

"That one barely counts."

The fight had already become much more serious than the stupid argument that started it.

Neither Ron nor Dmitri looked interested in stopping now.

Dmitri continued advancing while maintaining his rotational attacks.

Ron could have simply retreated and waited for the skill to end, but he chose not to as Lightning suddenly surged throughout his entire body.

His muscles tightened as bluish-white currents crawled across his neck before disappearing beneath his clothes.

Ron lowered his stance as he used his (Thunder God Overdrive) skill.

The pressure surrounding him changed instantly.

Dmitri’s eyes sharpened.

Ron then vanished into thin air.

CRACK!

A streak of Lightning crossed the plaza.

The difference in speed compared to before was obvious as Dmitri barely managed to turn the halberd before Ron’s spear struck the shaft.

CLANG!

Before the sound of their weapons colliding had even faded, Ron was already behind him and attacked once again.

Dmitri reacted by lowering the opposite end of his weapon and blocked the thrust with the shaft.

Another Lightning Flash carried Ron away before he could counter.

Dmitri swung toward him, but there was nothing there as Ron had already changed direction.

Several spectators began struggling to follow his movements as bluish-white flashes repeatedly appeared around Dmitri, sometimes only remaining visible for an instant before disappearing again.

Metal collided repeatedly throughout the ruined plaza.

CLANG!

Another thrust slammed into Dmitri’s defense.

The impact forced the halberd toward his chest.

Dmitri’s arms flexed as he pushed the weapon away.

Then Ron disappeared again.

Dmitri immediately turned.

But it was too slow as the spear struck his side.

Shhk!

Blood scattered across the stone.

Dmitri swung backward in response, but Ron ducked beneath the halberd.

His foot struck the ground and Lightning erupted as Ron accelerated from directly beneath Dmitri’s reach and slammed the shaft of the spear into his stomach.

BANG!

Dmitri staggered.

Ron immediately rotated the weapon and followed with a thrust toward his chest.

This time, Dmitri recovered quickly enough.

The halberd intercepted the attack, but the force still pushed him another step backward.

Ron did not stop, Lightning Flash activated again as he shifted toward the side and attacked from another angle.

The spear struck Dmitri’s defense.

Ron disappeared before another exchange could begin.

Dmitri’s expression gradually became more serious.

His advantage in Strength meant very little when Ron refused to stand in front of him.

Whenever Dmitri prepared a heavy attack, Ron changed position before it could land.

Whenever he tried to force a direct collision between their weapons, Ron only made contact long enough to redirect himself somewhere else.

More importantly, Ron continued accumulating momentum each time he accelerated.

A low rumble gradually spread across the plaza.

Cain looked upward and noticed that dark clouds formed above the battlefield. Bluish-white arcs of Lightning descended around Ron and struck the ground near him as he used his (Thunderstorm Domain) skill.

Several people standing nearby felt the hair on their arms rise.

Ron stopped moving for a brief moment and stood within the storm with his spear lowered.

Lightning flowed into the weapon and part of that energy continuously returned to his body.

Dmitri stared at the storm surrounding him.

"So you’re finally serious."

Ron rotated his injured shoulder once.

"Well, you’re better than you look to be."

Dmitri’s eyebrow twitched, then he rushed forward as he used his (War God Step) skill.

The momentum he had accumulated throughout the fight erupted as his body accelerated across the plaza.

Ron moved as well.

The two crossed half the distance in only a moment.

Dmitri attacked first as the halberd descended diagonally toward Ron.

Ron twisted his body aside.

The heavy blade missed his chest.

However, Dmitri immediately shifted his grip.

The hooked section of the halberd caught the side of Ron’s spear.

Dmitri then yanked it, disrupting Ron’s movement.

For the first time since activating his Thunder God Overdrive skill, Ron failed to cleanly escape from Dmitri’s reach.

Dmitri stepped forward before Ron could recover.

His shoulder crashed into Ron.

BANG!

Ron was thrown across the ground.

He landed badly and rolled before forcing himself back onto his feet.

A thin stream of blood appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Cain raised an eyebrow in amusement.

Dmitri had finally managed to use Ron’s own speed against him.

The moment the hook caught his spear, Ron had already built a considerable amount of forward momentum.

Dmitri did not give Ron any time to recover as he charged again with Force Mana gathered around the halberd.

Ron raised his spear to block the incoming attack.

CLANG!

The heavy strike drove him backward.

For a moment, both of his feet left the ground.

Dmitri continued advancing.

Another attack descended.

Ron activated his Lightning Flash skill and vanished from beneath the weapon.

BOOM!

The halberd smashed into the plaza and shattered the ground.

Ron reappeared several meters away, his breathing had become slightly heavier.

The shoulder strike hurt much more than he wanted to admit.

At least one of his ribs had probably cracked during the collision.

Each deeper breath caused another dull pain to spread through his chest.

Dmitri was not in perfect condition either.

His breathing had grown heavier, and several wounds covered his body. Blood had already soaked through parts of his clothing.

However, neither of them had reached their limit as they hadn’t even gone all out yet and used strong skills.

Dmitri rushed toward Ron once again.

Lightning exploded around Ron’s body as he disappeared.

This time, Ron did not immediately approach Dmitri as he began circling the ruined plaza instead.

Lightning Flash activated repeatedly as his speed continued increasing.
