Infinte Origin
The silver eyed wolf
Chapter 46 — The Silver-Eyed Beast
Kaelen's warning remained in the air.
Aether didn't look impressed.
He had heard warnings before.
Most of them meant one thing.
Something stronger was nearby.
That wasn't a reason to leave.
It was a reason to learn more.
Aether looked at Kaelen.
“You said something has been watching us.”
Kaelen nodded.
“Since yesterday.”
“Do you know what it is?”
“No.”
Aether studied him carefully.
“You're Stage 5, but you entered this zone alone.”
“I did.”
“And you haven't tried to attack us.”
Kaelen smiled faintly.
“I don't attack people simply because they're strong.”
Aether nodded.
That answer was reasonable.
But not enough to earn trust.
“What do you want?”
Kaelen glanced toward the cave.
“Nothing from you.”
His gaze returned to Aether.
“I came here because this zone changed recently.”
Aether's expression became serious.
“How?”
“Something woke up.”
Lyra stepped closer.
“Another ancient beast?”
“Probably.”
Kaelen's eyes moved toward the deeper forest.
“Three days ago, several powerful beasts disappeared.”
Aria frowned.
“Disappeared?”
“No corpses. No traces of battle. They were simply gone.”
Aether's mind immediately connected the information.
The strange presence.
The silver eyes.
The hidden signature.
Kaelen continued.
“Then the weaker beasts started avoiding a particular part of the forest.”
“Where?”
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Kaelen pointed deeper into the zone.
“North.”
Aether activated his map.
A large section of the B-grade Origin Zone appeared.
The northern region was mostly unexplored.
[Unknown Region]
[Origin Density: Extremely High]
[Detection Interference: Severe]
Aether looked at the map.
“How far?”
“About twenty kilometers.”
Aria looked at him.
“You're thinking about going.”
“Eventually.”
Kaelen laughed quietly.
“Of course you are.”
Aether ignored him.
“Why tell me?”
Kaelen's expression became more serious.
“Because whatever is there has already noticed you.”
That changed things.
Aether's fingers rested lightly on the Executioner's Blade.
“So it isn't merely watching.”
“No.”
Kaelen looked directly into his eyes.
“I think it's waiting.”
Kaelen didn't stay long.
Before leaving, he said one final thing.
“If you enter the northern region, don't assume everything there wants to kill you.”
Aether raised an eyebrow.
“That sounds oddly specific.”
Kaelen smiled.
“Because some things don't need to attack you to become dangerous.”
Then he disappeared between the trees.
Aether watched him leave.
Lyra looked at him.
“Do you trust him?”
“No.”
Aria nodded.
“Good.”
Aether glanced at her.
“You agree too quickly.”
“I've known you long enough.”
Aether almost smiled.
“Fair.”
Nyx suddenly growled.
Aether looked down.
Her golden eyes were fixed toward the northern forest.
She could sense something.
Not fear.
Recognition.
Aether crouched beside her.
“What did you feel?”
Nyx's silver forehead mark began glowing faintly.
Aether's expression changed.
The same mark on his own body responded.
[Origin Mark Resonance detected.]
[Unknown Origin Signature detected.]
[Source: North]
Aether stood.
The resonance faded.
But the message remained.
Whatever was in the northern region had a connection to Origin.
They returned to the cave before sunset.
Aether didn't immediately leave for the north.
Instead, he began preparing.
He checked his supplies.
Origin Crystals.
Healing herbs.
Materials.
Weapons.
The formation.
Everything had a purpose.
Aria watched him organize everything.
“You're actually preparing this time.”
Aether looked at her.
“I always prepare.”
“You fought that Stage 5 bear with almost no preparation.”
“That was preparation.”
“That was walking into a forest.”
Aether considered her words.
“Fair.”
Lyra laughed.
Aether finished organizing the supplies.
Then he looked at the cave.
The formation was functioning.
The cultivation chamber was stable.
The training area was usable.
Storage had been established.
The base was no longer merely a cave.
It was becoming something real.
Aether opened the system.
[Current Cultivation: Origin Awakening — Stage 4]
[Origin Points: 200/300]
[Origin Adaptation: 22.1%]
[Infinite Origin Physique: 0.39%]
[Potential: ∞]
[Executioner's Blade Synchronization: 9%]
[Origin Severance: 14%]
[Adaptive Resonance: 33%]
[Origin Copy: LOCKED]
Aether closed the panel.
He had reached Stage 4.
Now he needed to strengthen everything else.
His physique.
His weapon.
His techniques.
His companions.
And his base.
He wouldn't repeat the mistake of becoming stronger in only one area.
That night, Lyra cultivated.
Aria trained with her new spear.
Aether sat near the Origin vein and practiced controlling his newly increased Origin Energy.
The cave was quiet.
Stable.
Almost peaceful.
Then Nyx opened her eyes.
Her fur stood on end.
Aether immediately stopped cultivating.
“What is it?”
Nyx stared toward the entrance.
Aether activated Origin Detection.
Nothing.
Then—
A faint sound reached them.
A footstep.
Aria stood.
Lyra's lightning appeared around her hands.
Another step.
Closer.
Aether drew the Executioner's Blade.
The sword vibrated softly.
[Unknown Origin Signature detected.]
[Distance: 47 meters]
[Distance: 32 meters]
[Distance: 18 meters]
Aether stared toward the entrance.
A shadow appeared beyond the formation.
It stopped.
The cave's concealment formation remained active.
Yet something had found them.
A pair of silver eyes appeared in the darkness.
No body.
No aura.
Only eyes.
Nyx growled.
The silver eyes shifted toward her.
Then toward Aether.
The Executioner's Blade suddenly emitted a sharp metallic sound.
Ting.
Aether's expression hardened.
The silver eyes disappeared.
The presence vanished.
But this time, something remained.
A faint silver mark had appeared on the cave's outer wall.
Aether approached it carefully.
The mark looked like an eye surrounded by several broken rings.
He didn't touch it.
The system immediately displayed a warning.
[Unknown Origin Mark detected.]
[Unable to analyze.]
[Warning: Mark is observing host.]
Aether's gaze turned cold.
“Observing me?”
He placed his hand on the sword.
The blade responded with a faint silver glow.
“Then watch closely.”
Aether turned away from the mark.
He wasn't frightened.
But he was no longer treating the northern region as merely another hunting ground.
Something intelligent was there.
Something connected to Origin.
And now it knew exactly where he lived.
Aether looked at the cave around him.
His first real base had only just been built.
He wasn't abandoning it.
If anything...
He needed to make it stronger.
Because whatever was waiting in the north had just given him a reason to do exactly that.
