<Chapter - 139 Inquest Sovereign>

The open polar waters of the Great Glacial Verge churned in violent, foaming swells of black salt and crushed sea-ice as the kilometer-long hull of the Aethelgard plowed steadily northward.

High above the dreadnought’s soaring star-iron superstructure, the pale northern dawn was torn apart by twelve blinding pillars of consecrated white mana that pierced straight through the low blizzard clouds. The Archive Church’s High Inquest Armada had finally arrived to intercept the unsealed relic of the 14th Cycle.

Six colossal, flying dread-cathedrals—floating battleships constructed from consecrated white marble, reinforced with heavy silver-alloy armor plating, and lifted aloft by massive anti-gravity mana conduits—hung suspended in a rigid blockade ring directly across the dreadnought’s navigation vector.

Mounted across the frontal bastions of the flying cathedrals were dozens of heavy High-Frequency Consecration Cannons. The weapons hummed with a deafening, acoustic screech that sent shockwaves rippling across the water, designed to paralyze sensory-type awakeners and tear unranked meridians apart with raw, holy vibration.

Standing behind the reinforced forward viewports of the Aethelgard’s command bridge, completely unbothered by the divine fleet, was Noah Kurtz.

Noah stood in his familiar, relaxed slouch, his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his dark woolen coat. Ash-black hair drifted lazily across his brow, his steel-gray eyes surveying the floating cathedrals with calm, clinical detachment. Pinned over his chest lapel, directly over his heart, the dark ironwood leaf brooch absorbed the harsh acoustic resonance of the Church’s fleet, converting the ambient pressure into a tranquil, steady golden pulse. Underneath his coat sleeves, his black ironwood forearm guards lay quiet, their internal Ki circulating in effortless harmony with his newly established 5.35% Silver Sovereign Authority.

Beside him, her pale, delicate fingers entwined securely within his right palm, stood Rin Asakura.

Rin wore her winter-tailored lavender kimono beneath her dark navy travel cloak, the pure white fur collar resting gently against her slender neck. Her simple wooden practice sword was secured at her left hip, swaying with weightless precision.

Her crystalline violet eyes looked out through the glass, open, luminous, and completely serene.

Without a blindfold, and with the full depth of Asura’s Touch intertwined with her unsealed void-sight, Rin perceived the immense, rigid formation of the flying cathedrals. She mapped the brittle, over-stressed anti-gravity lift arrays in their hulls, the trembling panic of the High Inquisitor captains, and the absolute lack of kinetic balance in their synchronized firing arcs.

Slowly, Rin leaned her shoulder gently against Noah’s arm, her delicate fingers tightening their warm, devoted grip around his hand.

"They built their ships to resemble temples, Noah..." Rin whispered softly, her melodic, formal cadence carrying an intimate sweetness that rose above the low thrum of the bridge. "They fly through the sky because they believe the earth is beneath them. But their wings are borrowed from stolen anchors, and they tremble at the sound of the ocean below."

Noah looked down into her clear violet eyes, his steel-gray gaze softening with genuine, unshakeable tenderness. He gently squeezed her fingers, his thumb caressing the soft curve of her knuckles with quiet warmth.

"A temple that needs cannons to enforce its prayers isn’t a church, Rin," Noah spoke softly, his flat, rasping whisper carrying the calm depth of ancient eons. "It’s just an armed fortress running on borrowed time. When the 14th Cycle designed these spatial keels, they made sure no flying cart could block the sea lanes."

Rin stepped closer into his space, resting her cheek gently against his shoulder while holding his entwined hand against her heart.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

"Then let us clear the sea, Noah," Rin murmured, her breath warm against his coat.

Behind them, sitting in the deeply reclined leather command chair at the primary defense console, Jiho Park let out a long, jaw-cracking yawn that shook the brass fixtures.

The massive S-Rank Juggernaut wore his oversized yellow tank top and baggy gray sweatpants, his scuffed slide sandals resting comfortably on top of the primary targeting terminal. In his left hand, he held a massive chunk of cured spiced beef, chewing on it with slow, sleepy contentment.

"Man," Jiho mumbled around his food, his droopy eyes half-shut as he peered at the six flying white ships. "Master, those floating white boxes look like giant flying wedding cakes. They’re making that loud squealing noise again. Do I have to get out of this comfy chair to throw something at them?"

"Stay in the chair, Jiho," Noah replied smoothly, a dry, subtle smirk touching the corner of his lips. "The ship handles its own clearance."

"Best news I’ve heard all day," Jiho chuckled lazily, taking another massive bite of beef and sinking deeper into the leather cushions.

On the upper observation balcony, Chloe Harrington leaned against the brass railing, flipping her silver coin in a high, glittering arc.

Clink. Snap.

She wore her heavy dark leather duster unbuttoned over a canvas vest, her dead platinum revolvers resting quietly in their holsters. Her sharp amber eyes glowed with brilliant golden probability lines as she tracked the divine fleet’s charging cycle.

"All six flying cathedrals are charging their main acoustic arrays to maximum output, Boss," Chloe reported with a sharp, rebellious smirk. "Their probability line for breaching our outer kinetic envelope is sitting at exactly zero point zero percent."

"Look at the spatial compression along our forward prow, Boss!" Alistair Vance blurted out, frantically sprinting across the command deck while adjusting his brass-rimmed walking spectacles.

Alistair was clutching a steaming ceramic mug of dark roast connected to his portable espresso rig, while furiously swiping across a glowing holographic console with his free hand.

"The Aethelgard’sSilver Spatial Severance Field is fully primed! The high priests have locked their anti-gravity anchors directly into the atmospheric mana grid! If you activate the dimensional wake, the spatial displacement will sever their lift arrays without firing a single cannon shot!"

Over the external broadcast speakers, the frantic, amplified voice of the High Inquisitor Grand Marshal roared across the polar sea.

"LEVEL-1 NULL-POINT HERETICS! YOU ARE SURROUNDED BY THE CONSECRATED ARMADA OF THE HIGH SANCTUM! HALT YOUR VESSEL AND SUBMIT TO THE SACRED PURGE!"

All thirty-six High-Frequency Consecration Cannons fired simultaneously, unleashing a blinding wall of white acoustic shockwaves across the water.

Noah Kurtz did not flinch.

He stepped up to the primary Sovereign helm console, resting his bare left hand flat against the star-iron interface.

Circulate.

Underneath his dark coat sleeve, his black ironwood forearm guard flared with a pure, blinding silver luminescence.

Inside his lower spine, his 5.35% Silver Sovereign Authority pulsed straight into the ship’s dimensional spatial keel.

[Silver Spatial Severance: Sovereign Wake]

SHING—!

The Aethelgard did not fire an explosive shell.

Instead, a thin, crescent line of absolute, zero-friction spatial distortion rippled outward from the ship’s prow, cutting cleanly across the sky through the anti-gravity lift lines of all six flying cathedrals simultaneously.

SNAP-HISS—!

The white divine mana in the flying ships sputtered and died instantly.

Deprived of their spatial lift anchors, the six colossal flying cathedrals groaned, their heavy marble frames tilting forty-five degrees as they dropped helplessly from the clouds, splashing down into the icy ocean like six oversized wooden crates.

The high priests and inquisitors shrieked in utter terror, scrambling across their waterlogged decks as the massive waves tossed their ships aside like toys.

The kilometer-long dreadnought sailed smoothly past the stranded armada without slowing its pace by a fraction of a knot, its star-iron hull cutting cleanly through the open water.

DING.

Alistair Vance nearly dropped his espresso mug in sheer ecstasy. "Six flying cathedrals... downed in three seconds with a single spatial ripple! The Church will take six months just to tow those wrecks back to port!"

Chloe Harrington laughed softly, spinning her revolvers before snapping them into their holsters. "Told you. Nobody blocks the Boss’s boat."

Noah Kurtz stood at the forward viewports, his hands resting comfortably in his coat pockets as his steel-gray eyes looked toward the boundless, open ocean stretching to the northern horizon.

Beside him, Rin Asakura stepped close into his chest, wrapping both hands gently around his left arm, her cheek resting against his dark woolen sleeve. Her crystalline violet eyes shone with boundless pride, devotion, and sweet affection.

"The path is open, Noah..." Rin whispered softly, her breath warm against his coat.

Noah looked down into her beautiful face, gently wrapping his arm around her shoulders with quiet, unbreakable warmth.

"It’s open, Rin," Noah Kurtz said softly, his steel-gray eyes filled with an ancient, tranquil calm. "Now let’s sail into the Sea of Lost Worlds."
