INFINITE MEMORIES : MY F-RANK SKILL IS ACTUALLY THE STRONGEST
Chapter 138: AWAKENING DREADNOUGHT
<Chapter - 138 Awakening Dreadnought>
The air within the vaulted command bridge of the Aethelgard hummed with ancient, kinetic starlight.
Suspended in the center of the circular room above the monolithic bronze-alloy holotank, the silver crystalline sphere of Record Fragment #034 rotated in a smooth, continuous gyroscopic axis, projecting shimmering constellations and dimensional navigation vectors of the Sea of Lost Worlds across the high domed ceiling. The deep, rhythmic thrum of the dreadnought’s subterranean propulsion turbines surged through the petrified dark-oak decking, vibrating softly against the soles of Noah Kurtz’s boots.
Noah stood before the central command terminal, his hands shoved deep within the pockets of his dark woolen coat.
Ash-black hair fell loosely over his forehead, his posture settled into that familiar, unhurried slouch. Pinned over his chest lapel, the dark ironwood leaf brooch absorbed the ship’s massive energy output, humming with a tranquil, steady golden warmth directly over his heart. Underneath his coat sleeves, his black ironwood forearm guards lay quiet, their internal Ki circulation humming in effortless harmony with his newly established 5.35% Silver Sovereign Authority.
Beside him, her slender fingers entwined securely within his right palm, stood Rin Asakura.
Rin wore her winter-tailored lavender kimono under her dark navy traveling cloak, the pure white fur collar resting gently against her neck. Her simple wooden practice sword swayed peacefully at her left hip.
Her crystalline violet eyes looked out through the colossal panoramic forward viewports, open, luminous, and completely serene.
Without a blindfold, and with the full depth of Asura’s Touch intertwined with her unsealed void-sight, Rin perceived the immense, awakening soul of the kilometer-long dreadnought. She felt the ship’s ancient dimensional keel cutting through the subterranean abyssal vacuum, the massive silver-alloy stabilization fins locking into place, and the pure, unwavering heartbeat of the man standing beside her.
Slowly, Rin leaned her shoulder gently against Noah’s arm, her delicate fingers tightening their warm, devoted grip around his hand.
"The ship has found its breath, Noah..." Rin whispered softly, her melodic, formal cadence carrying an intimate sweetness that rose above the low mechanical hum. "After thousands of years of sleeping in the dark ice, it moves not by fire, but by the quiet certainty of your will. The church called this deep trench an abyss of doom, but to the ship... it is merely an open harbor."
Noah turned his head, his steel-gray gaze softening with genuine, unshakeable tenderness as he looked down into her clear violet eyes. He gently squeezed her fingers, his thumb caressing the soft curve of her knuckles with steady warmth.
"A vessel built in the 14th Cycle doesn’t fear the dark, Rin," Noah spoke softly, his flat, rasping whisper carrying the calm depth of ancient eons. "They built the Aethelgard to traverse shattered dimensions when the stars went out. As long as the Sovereign Key is seated at the core, the hull can cut through three hundred feet of glacial permafrost like morning mist."
Rin stepped closer into his space, resting her cheek gently against his shoulder while holding his entwined hand against her heart.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
"Then let us break the ice, Noah," Rin murmured, her breath warm against his coat.
Behind them on the elevated bridge catwalk, the heavy, rhythmic crunch-slap of rubber soles broke the majestic stillness of the bridge.
Jiho Park trudged forward, his faded, scuffed slide sandals slapping lazily across the polished metal grating. Over his broad right shoulder, the massive S-Rank Juggernaut balanced his oversized canvas duffel bag, packed full of dried meats, three loaves of bread from Riverbend, and the heavy gold matrix ore from District 9. In his left hand, he held a massive chunk of smoked spiced beef, chewing on it with a slow, sleep-deprived crunch.
"Man," Jiho mumbled around his food, his droopy eyes half-shut as he peered at the spinning silver holotank. "Master, this boat’s bridge is nicer than the VIP lounge at the Hunter Association headquarters. There are soft leather chairs near the navigation desk, and the floor doesn’t even vibrate when the big engines turn on. Can I sit in the co-pilot seat and finish my dried beef?"
"Take the main defense station, Jiho," Noah replied smoothly, a dry, subtle smirk touching the corner of his lips. "The seat reclines all the way back."
"Reclining battle station?" Jiho’s droopy eyes widened with profound spiritual joy. "Master, you’re the greatest strategist in history. I am never leaving this boat."
Jiho flopped his massive frame into the reinforced command chair, letting out a long, jaw-cracking yawn that shook the nearby consoles before sinking comfortably into the leather.
"Look at this telemetry, Boss!" Alistair Vance blurted out, frantically sprinting across the command deck while adjusting his brass-rimmed walking spectacles.
Alistair had already hooked his portable espresso rig directly into the bridge’s auxiliary steam manifold, holding a steaming mug in one hand while his other hand flew across seven glowing holographic interfaces.
"The Aethelgard’s subterranean kinetic displacement fields are initializing at ninety-nine point eight percent efficiency!" Alistair shouted with manic, academic ecstasy. "The ship isn’t going to ram the ice with brute explosive force! The silver spatial stabilizers are generating a localized zero-friction envelope along the prow! We are literally going to slide upward through the three-hundred-foot glacier without causing a single seismic collapse!"
"Probability vectors for a clean ascent: absolute one hundred percent," Chloe Harrington laughed, sliding down the brass railing of the upper observation balcony and landing with effortless, cat-like grace beside Noah.
Chloe wore her heavy dark leather duster unbuttoned over a fitted vest, her dead platinum revolvers resting quietly in their holsters. She flipped her silver coin high into the starlight glow of the bridge, catching it with a crisp, rhythmic snap. Her sharp amber eyes sparkled with brilliant golden probability lines as she surveyed the panoramic viewports.
"The remaining inquisitor scout units on the surface of the Great Glacial Verge think we’re buried under a million tons of ice," Chloe smirked rebelliously. "When this kilometer-long dreadnought surfaces, the Archive Church’s regional command is going to completely lose their minds."
Noah Kurtz stepped up to the primary Sovereign helm console, resting his bare left hand flat against the star-iron interface.
Circulate.
Underneath his dark sleeve, his black ironwood forearm guard flared with a brilliant, pure silver luminescence.
Inside his lower spine, his 5.35% Silver Sovereign Authority harmonized with the ship’s master dimensional core.
DING. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ [Primordial Dreadnought Sequence Initialized]
Vessel: 14th Cycle Sovereign Flagship ’Aethelgard’
Navigation Vector: Glacial Surface Ascent
Spatial Envelope: Zero-Friction Kinetic Field Active
Destination: Northern Dead Zone Sea Gateway ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
HUMMMMMMMM—!
The colossal, kilometer-long dreadnought surged smoothly upward from the depths of the abyssal trench.
Its star-iron prow parted the three hundred feet of solid glacial ice with zero resistance, gliding upward like a silver phantom through the frozen dark.
Moments later, the Aethelgard crested the surface of the Great Glacial Verge, emerging onto the vast, open polar sea under a breathtaking sky filled with glowing northern auroras and brilliant starlight.
Far in the distance, the panicked warning beacons of the Archive Church flickered weakly along the northern horizon, completely powerless to stop the rising dreadnought.
Noah Kurtz stood at the helm, his hands in his dark coat pockets, his steel-gray eyes cold and immovable as he looked out across the boundless ocean ahead.
Beside him, Rin Asakura stepped close into his chest, her pale hand holding his with eternal, unshakable devotion, a radiant smile touching her lips as they sailed into the uncharted waters of history.
