INFINITE MEMORIES : MY F-RANK SKILL IS ACTUALLY THE STRONGEST
Chapter 101: SHATTERED VEIL
<Chapter - 101 The Shattered Veil>
The morning sun rose over the Central Stronghold with a purity that the continent had not seen in three millennia.
Noah Kurtz was standing at the edge of the stone terrace. His hands were resting casually on the wide holder of balcony.
He was wearing a loose, charcoal-gray wool tunic shirt with dark trousers, his worn coat resting over a nearby wooden chair. Pinned over his collar was the small, dark ironwood leaf brooch. Underneath his sleeves, there was a cuffling. His aura was humming in the deep, effortless rhythm of Root Authority.
Standing directly beside him, leaning her slender frame comfortably against him and holding his hand was Rin Asakura.
Rin wore a soft, pale lavender kimono with deep navy patterns and a white woolen shawl draped over her shoulders. Her black silk blindfold was gone.
For the first time during a sunrise, Rin’s violet eyes looked directly out over the waking world. She watched the sea of golden clouds swimming through the mountain valley below. She let out a breath witnessing the beauty of the nature. Though Asura’s Touch still mapped the subtle shifts of every falling pine needle and mountain breeze, seeing the physical colors of creation with her own eyes was a revelation that brought a radiant softness to her face.
Slowly, Rin turned her gaze sideways, looking up at the man standing beside her.
She looked at his face profile things like the line of his jaw, the faint shadow of ash-black hair falling across his brow, and his steel-gray eyes that carried the calm depth of an tranquil sea.
A soft, serene smile curved Rin’s pale lips. She reached out her hand towards him, her fingers were sliding smoothly between his, entwining their hands over the cool scenery.
"The sun carries warmth, Noah..." Rin whispered softly, her voice full of melodic cadence touching his ear with sweetness. "For years, I only knew dawn by the change in thermal pressure against my skin. But seeing the light touch your face... it is far more breathtaking than any song."
Noah turned his head, looking down straight into her eyes. A subtle, genuine warm smile came out of him automatically. His calloused fingers gently tightening around hers. He reached up with his free hand, his knuckles lightly brushing against the curve of her cheek.
"You don’t need to look through the dark anymore, Rin," Noah spoke softly, this whisper carrying a rare, profound tenderness. "Every sunrise from now on is yours."
Rin leaned her cheek into his warm palm, her eyelashes fluttering softly as she let out a peaceful exhale. She stood on her tiptoes, resting her forehead gently against his shoulder, then held his hand against her chest where her heart beat in clear, rhythmic harmony with his.
"As long as I walk beside you, Noah... every day is an open horizon." Rin murmured
She then leaned her face over his shoulder gently, her navy blue kimono fluttering with every hair. She extended her lips closer to Noah’s face, Noah followed her lead without any question knowing what to come.
Over the wide horizon of this scenic beauty, finally their lips intertwined. Rin’s violet eyes shining with the sunrise, while the blush of shyness could be seen on her cheeks. Noah simply gave a smile of warmth. Both leaned back a little, Rin still hugging Noah tightly.
The quiet, romantic stillness was then suddenly interrupted by the heavy, rhythmic thud of wooden stairs groaning under massive weight.
THUD. THUD. SLAP-SLAP.
Jiho Park emerged onto the terrace, wearing his customary faded cotton tank top and dark sweatpants, his scuffed slide sandals slapping loudly against the dew-kissed flagstones. In his massive hands, he carried a colossal wooden tray holding four steaming ceramic bowls of spiced beef noodle soup and a mountain of crispy golden scallion pancakes.
"Man," Jiho mumbled, letting out a jaw-cracking morning yawn that ruffled the terrace awning. "Master, Alistair made noodles from the new border flour. He said the geothermal mills ground the wheat three times finer, but all I know is the noodles are thick enough to use as tow ropes."
"Set the tray down before you eat the entire platter, Jiho," Chloe Harrington called out, strolling out onto the patio right behind him.
Chloe had her leather duster draped over one shoulder, wearing a sleeveless high-neck top that showed off her lean, athletic frame. Her dead platinum revolvers were holstered at her hips, and she was casually tossing an apple in the air while flipping her silver coin with her thumb.
Clink. Snap.
Her amber eyes flicked toward Noah and Rin standing together at the railing. A teasing, knowing smirk spread across Chloe’s lips.
"Look at the lovebirds," Chloe laughed softly, taking a seat at the heavy oak terrace table. "The System fell yesterday, the entire corporate banking cartel is crying on public broadcasts, and our fearless leader is having a private poetry session with his sword saint."
"Master is entitled to his poetry," Jiho grunted, setting the massive tray down and immediately grabbing two scallion pancakes in one hand. "He broke the dragon, he broke the church, and he made sure the soup stayed hot. If anyone has a complaint, they can talk to my fist."
"Nobody is complaining, big guy," Chloe chuckled, ladling a bowl for herself. "I’m just admiring the view."
Rin turned her head from Noah’s shoulder, her violet eyes meeting Chloe’s amber gaze. Rin didn’t pull away from Noah; she simply smiled with serene, unbothered elegance, her hand remaining firmly linked in Noah’s grip.
"Good morning, Chloe," Rin spoke with soft, graceful warmth. "The pancakes smell delicious."
"They taste even better, Rin," Chloe smiled genuinely, raising her teacup in a silent toast.
Noah walked smoothly to the table with Rin by his side, pulling out a wooden chair for her before taking a seat next to her. He picked up his wooden chopsticks, his slouching posture relaxed and at ease.
"Where is Alistair?" Noah asked, taking a quiet sip of hot broth.
"Where do you think, Boss?" Chloe snorted, rolling her eyes. "He’s in the subterranean vault trying to reverse-engineer the Primordial Cradle’s core capacitor using three coffee pots and a soldering iron. If he drinks one more espresso, he’s going to vibrate through the floorboards."
BOOM!
Right on cue, a loud, muffled metallic explosion rattled the floorboards beneath the terrace. A second later, the courtyard door banged open, and Alistair Vance stumbled out, coughing violently through a cloud of gray smoke.
His tweed vest was scorched, his glasses were crooked, and his hair looked as though it had been subjected to three direct lightning strikes. In his trembling hands, he clutched a brass astronomical sensor device that was shrieking with frantic, glitched red warnings.
"Boss! Boss! Stop eating the pancakes!" Alistair wheezed frantically, stumbling toward the table and slamming the brass device onto the wood. "We have a structural anomaly! A catastrophic, cosmic-level variance!"
Jiho didn’t pause his chewing. He simply shifted a bowl of soup out of the way of Alistair’s soot-covered sleeve. "Master Alistair, if you spill the broth, I’m throwing your brass toy off the cliff."
"Forget the broth, Jiho!" Alistair yelled, adjusting his crooked glasses with shaking fingers. "Look at the atmospheric telemetry!"
Noah Kurtz set his chopsticks down with a quiet clack. His steel-gray eyes narrowed slightly, fixing on the pulsing red glyphs on the sensor.
"Explain, Alistair," Noah spoke calmly, his flat voice cutting through the panic.
"The System... the International System we destroyed yesterday at the Cradle..." Alistair stammered, his eyes wide with scholarly terror. "Boss, it wasn’t just a regulatory machine built by ancient corporate cowards to control humans! It was a Dimensional Cloaking Lattice!"
Chloe paused mid-flip of her silver coin, her rebellious smirk vanishing. "A cloaking lattice?"
"Yes!" Alistair blurted out. "Three thousand years ago, during the 14th Cycle Cataclysm, the architects sealed Earth inside an artificial computational bubble! The System was broadcasting a false void frequency to the outer cosmos, making our entire solar system look like an empty, dead graveyard to the rest of the galaxy!"
Alistair pointed a trembling, soot-stained finger straight up at the clear blue morning sky.
"The moment you dissolved the Root Code and decentralized the Cradle yesterday, Boss... the cloaking veil dropped!" Alistair screamed. "Earth just lit up on every deep-space scanner in the known cosmos like a burning torch in a pitch-black room!"
Suddenly, the morning wind died.
The pleasant mountain breeze vanished into total, suffocating atmospheric silence.
High above the Central Stronghold—ten miles up in the cloudless stratosphere—the sky began to groan.
CREEEAAAK—!
It was not the sound of thunder or mana storms. It was the terrifying, bone-chilling sound of physical space fracturing like a pane of brittle glass.
Across the entire horizon, from east to west, massive geometric hairline cracks spread through the blue sky, glowing with a cold, pale-emerald luminescence. The clouds around the fracture lines vaporized instantly, stripped away by an immense, gravitational distortion descending from beyond the stars.
Rin stood up from her chair in a single, fluid motion.
Her violet eyes sharpened, their crystalline depth flaring with the innate, peerless perception of Asura’s Touch combined with unsealed void-sight. She mapped the upper atmosphere—not as simple air currents, but as a colossal, alien tear in the fabric of the celestial canopy.
"Noah..." Rin spoke, her melodic voice laced with a lethal, absolute focus as her pale hand rested on the hilt of her wooden practice sword. "Something immense has breached the boundary."
Noah slowly stood up from the wooden bench, his dark coat draped over his shoulders.
He didn’t panic. His slouching posture remained completely relaxed, his hands shoved casually into his pockets. Pinned over his chest, the ironwood leaf brooch glinted under the strange, emerald light filtering down from the fractured sky.
Circulate.
Underneath his dark sleeves, Noah’s Silver-Tier Ki loop and Gold Sovereign authority harmonized in a seamless, zero-waste loop. His Root Authority hummed through his meridians, grounding the entire mountain plateau against the descending gravitational shockwave.
High above, through the shattered emerald fracture in the sky, a colossal vessel emerged from the void.
It was three miles long, forged from dark, iridescent celestial alloy that absorbed the sunlight like a black hole. It carried no corporate logos or church crests; its obsidian hull was carved with ancient, starry constellations and the glowing jade sigil of the Void Vanguard Harvesters—an interstellar scouting armada from the Extinct Cycles.
A voice resonated from the descending dreadnought, echoing across the continent not through radio waves or divine magic, but through raw, crushing cosmic telepathy:
"PLANETARY QUARANTINE PROTOCOL: EXPIRED. ANOMALOUS LIFE SIGNATURE DETECTED ON PRIMARY TERRA-ZERO. RE-ESTABLISHING HARVEST MATRIX FOR THE SEVENTH VOID SECT."
Jiho Park swallowed the last bite of his scallion pancake, wiped his mouth with his forearm, and stood up beside Noah. The broad Juggernaut cracked his thick knuckles, his sleepy eyes narrowing into cold slits as he looked up at the three-mile-long alien warship.
"Master," Jiho mumbled, his faded slide sandals planting firmly into the stone patio. "That ship is pretty big. Are those guys from space going to let us finish breakfast, or do I need to jump up there and break their hull?"
Chloe drew both dead platinum revolvers with a crisp, lethal snap, her amber eyes tracking the new, cosmic probability lines weaving through the sky. "Probability vectors just went infinite, Boss. We aren’t fighting corporate suits anymore."
Rin stepped smoothly to Noah’s right side, her violet eyes burning with absolute, fearless devotion. She slid her left hand into Noah’s right palm, their fingers entwining in an unbreakable lock as her right hand rested upon her blade.
"Our sky, Noah," Rin whispered softly, her melodic voice steady and clear.
Noah Kurtz looked up at the cosmic dreadnought descending through the shattered veil of the heavens. His steel-gray eyes glinted with an ancient, terrifying clarity—the memory of a Sovereign who had once commanded the stars themselves.
"Our sky," Noah replied gently.
The Continental Saga was over.
The Cosmic Era had begun—and the galaxy was about to learn that Earth belonged to the Ashen Sovereign.
