Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse

Chapter 5241: The Descent!

Chapter 5241: The Descent!

The Gilded Houses bickered and Noah stopped listening to them.

He turned his attention to the Wall instead and let THE Infinite Tongue’s passive operation extend outward through the ambient Mortis Cause threads filling this domain, reaching for whatever the threads would carry to him about what the Wall was. Pillow Talk engaged alongside it, and the two capabilities pressed against the Wall’s information together.

Existence leaned toward him.

That was the sensation. As though the ambient information surrounding the Wall had been waiting for something capable of asking for it, and Noah’s combined capabilities constituted the asking.

The notifications arrived not in sequence but in overlapping fragments, as though the Wall’s information was too layered to deliver cleanly.

Wall designation: THE Advent Wall. Object of unknown origin.

Connection: THE Mortis Cause saturation throughout all structural components. The Wall does not draw from THE Mortis Cause. It was present at the emergence of THE First Cause and carries THE Mortis Cause’s original expression, preceding the derived methodologies that subsequent beings have developed from it.

Discovery: Located through temporal weavings of THE First Cause by Gilded Ones. The temporal weavings traced the Wall backward through time to the moment of THE First Cause’s emergence, confirming it as an object that existed at or before that emergence rather than a construction produced after.

Contents: THE Advent Wall carries what has been designated terminal Infinity within its interior weavings, a configuration of Infinity that exists in proximity to cessation rather than to continuation. Alongside this, residual musings of THE Primordial Source have been detected within the Wall’s deepest layers. Whether the Wall connects to THE Primordial Source or merely carries traces of it has not been confirmed.

Function: Gilded Ones have utilized THE Advent Wall as a gateway. Entry strips the entering existence of its body, its Civilization foundations, and most of its cultivation substrate. What passes through is the soul of the entrant, surrounded by their Ego, their Infinity, and their Observable Force. The gateway appears to filter everything except these components as impurities relative to whatever lies on the other side.

Survival rate: Low. Existences without a close connection to THE First Cause do not survive the filtering process. The Wall’s terminal Infinity interacts fatally with foundations that do not carry sufficient proximity to the original emergence or Mortis.

Exception: Lineages born directly from the firstborns of THE First Cause demonstrate markedly higher survival rates.

...!

Noah’s eyes opened wide.

He looked at the Wall. He looked at Adelheid. He thought about THE Infinite Cause, which his mother had originated, which was the one Cause in the current arrangement of existence that had no Gilded designation, no engineering template, no derivation from the existing Prime Cause framework, because it had emerged independently through the accumulated weight of a Bounded woman’s existence, which made it either the furthest possible thing from THE First Cause’s original emergence or something adjacent to it in a way he had not yet fully mapped.

He put the thought away and watched Evangelina.

She had finished whatever calculation she had been running while the Houses bickered and arrived at its conclusion. She nodded toward the Wall without ceremony.

"If THE Magna Sorora and THE Ealdor Gilded Ones have made the decision, we will naturally act in accordance." Her voice carried the flat certainty of a being who had moved past deliberation.

"Let us proceed. It seems both our houses have high expectations for this round’s picks."

Noah smiled.

High expectations. For the existences they were sending through a wall that stripped everything except the soul, the Ego, and whatever Infinity and Observable Force survived the filtering. Into a space where Ealdor Gilded Ones had stopped entering because the risk to their lives was unacceptable. Where many prior entrants had died or returned gravely injured. Where the survival variable was proximity to THE First Cause’s original emergence.

He thought about what could actually be deployed in such a place.

Body gone. Civilization gone. Most cultivation substrate gone. What remained was the soul, the Ego, the Infinity, and the Observable Force. His Absolute Egos of Infinity were anchored in THE Absolute Forge, which lived inside his Hadean Organ of Civilization. Whether the Forge survived the filtering was an open question.

His Causes would likely survive. Causes, by definition, were not structural components of his physiology but truths that his existence had been formed around, woven into what he was rather than into what he had built. THE Bellum Cause. THE Cognitio Cause. THE Infinite Cause. And THE Infinite Tongue, which was not a Cause but operated through the same layer of his existence.

In a place where everyone else entered with their Ego and their Infinity and little else, he would enter with his Causes and THE Infinite Tongue alongside those.

He filed the advantage and turned his attention back to the space.

Evangelina had moved toward the Devonian Ragnar stationed nearest the Wall, her bearing carrying none of the political performance she had directed at the Maharanis delegation. Operational now!

"Have there been any updates?" She held the Devonian Ragnar’s gaze directly. "New findings from those already inside, or from the Ealdor Gilded Ones who have made the descent?"

The Devonian Ragnar’s brutal smile did not carry warmth and did not pretend to. He shook his head.

"Many of those that have entered so far have been gravely injured. Several died." He looked toward the Wall rather than at Evangelina when he said the next part.

"No more Ealdor Gilded Ones have entered sincr then. They cannot risk their lives until things are clearer on the other side."

Evangelina absorbed this without visible reaction.

"Prepare for our descent."

She turned to Dietrich and Adelheid.

"Come."

The four of them moved toward the Wall, Evangelina at the front, Noah falling into place behind Adelheid as the formation took shape. He raised his brows when he noticed the additional figure joining from Evangelina’s group. A Sororis Prima, pulling into formation beside Dietrich.

Dietrich’s Custos was a Sororis Prima.

Noah looked at Adelheid’s back and at Dietrich moving ahead of them and at the Sororis Prima taking her position beside Dietrich with the settled ease of a Custodes arrangement that had been in place long enough to have its own gravity.

Evangelina did not slow as she spoke, her words directed behind her without turning her head.

"The time has come to see if our forces can once more shine brilliantly for THE Ubergulden House. You are the pioneers. Your task is to pave the path forward and gain enough knowledge that our ancestors can enter without unacceptable risk. Any knowledge on THE Primordial Source. How to tap into it. Anything relating to THE Relictus. That information is what we want, and you will be rewarded tremendously for anything viable."

The Wall grew larger as they approached. The Mortis Cause pulsed through it in its slow rhythm and the terminal Infinity within it pressed against Noah’s perception with the cold patience of something that existed in proximity to ending and had no opinion about what else it was in proximity to.

"If you yourselves grasp THE Primordial Source," Evangelina continued, "you will be elevated and nurtured by our whole House. If you provide the knowledge that paves the way for all Gilded Ones to grasp it, your names will be carved on the Scales themselves. We will make sure of it."

They were close enough now that the Wall filled Noah’s full visual field, its obsidian-gold surface carrying the geometric etchings he had analyzed from across the domain, the functional architecture of a gateway built into material that had existed before THE First Cause had produced anyone to build anything.

"What lies before you is THE Advent Wall," Evangelina said, "It is a boundless future filled with infinite possibilities."

Noah looked at the Wall.

He thought about THE Infinite Cause and its proximity to whatever THE First Cause’s original emergence had been, and about his soul carrying his Causes and his Tongue into a place where Ealdor Gilded Ones had stopped going, and about THE Creature who had grasped THE Primordial Source from the lower Observable Existence with nothing but his rebuilt foundations.

Infinite possibilities.

Infinite possibilities lay ahead as he...was very curious!
