Chapter 333: Ashore

The raging sea had become relatively calm, as the focus shifts towards a lone island sitting in the middle of the boundless ocean...

Now that the continents had converged, getting lost in the sea carried a more dreadful weight, as you were either near the super continent in which case one could be said to be extremely lucky.

But if you were as far out as the sword divisions, navigating a way home became countless times more dreadful.

Fortunately there was an island nearby, drawing the waves to crash against its shore, and with each crash, unconscious bodies drifted and were thrashed onto the sand, rolling in with the waves, unconscious but very much alive.

Pushed by the momentum of the ocean, they were like litter finding its way back to land, some lying dirty, hair clogged with seaweed, some face buried in sand.

And so it remained, their bodies hanging silent at the shore, the clouds in the sky clearing up with time as the storm passed and eventually the sun rose over the horizon, brilliant rays of crimson bleeding onto the beach.

The light prickled against the skin of the humans ashore, and the first to stir awake, groaning out of slumber as he slowly rose, was none other than Seth...

His eyelids cracking open, stray silver strands of long hair draped over his face, Seth coughed, his blurry mind slowly settling as his consciousness recalled the feeling of being in its own shell once more.

Seth didn’t know how it was possible but manning the force of fortune felt far more natural than his own body, which made returning back to his mortal state feel quite jarring...

"W...what? W-wait, where am I?" Seth muttered in a slow, slurred tone, his arms shielding his sensitive eyes from the light...

"W-wait... not right..." He hissed as a throb of pain pulsed from the back of his head, his vision remained blurry, his eyes unable to process anything but stray rays of light in a jumbled manner.

Still half blind and relatively deaf, he still felt a dissonance... and he started to realize the reason his body felt so... so alien was that changes had occurred during the absence of his consciousness.

It seemed he had grown stronger? Just as he was coming to this conclusion, his sight was slowly returning to him, the sound received by his ears growing clearer by the second.

Washing his hands over his face for a few minutes, everything snapped back into hyper clarity, and immediately he was assaulted with how alien his surroundings felt...

Turning left and right, he glanced at the stirring mass of humans along the beach... wait beach?

How had they gotten here? He turned back his gaze to the sea, waves crashing onto the sparkling white open sands of the shore, the distant horizon highlighting a crimson sky and blood sun peeking out of the horizon.

At that very moment, Seth seemed to realize two things, one good, one bad but both about their current situation...

The first one, the good one, was that he could deduce how they got to the island, by some miracle. Instead of the humans drowning, they had been washed ashore by some stroke of fortune...

Glancing around, though he couldn’t locate all the seven division soldiers in a glance or two, he still had hope they must have landed or drifted into other corners of the island, after all waves and currents couldn’t be predictable...

Now for the bad news...

Seth turned around to stare at the silent thick jungle of vibrant green rising into the distance... It seemed fate had a cruel dark humor, as they seemed to have landed on the edge of a corruption zone.

Earth was now a tier one world, meaning corruption zones should all have threats of the awakened grade, and surmounting the monsters it would produce wouldn’t be as easy as they were used to...

Seth collapsed down on his backside, in hopes of getting the rest that would surely elude him for the times to come, he decided to scroll through his system messages and see what he’d missed while he was unconscious.

After all, till the others were fully awake there was nothing he could do.

Fortunately he hadn’t caught any sights of a monster or anything of sorts... for some reason the corrupted hadn’t attacked despite the fact that fresh meat had landed within their territory.

Which made Seth conclude that they must have landed at the very outer edge of the corruption zone...

That was the only reason Seth could think of, for why he and the others were still unharmed despite sitting here defenseless for God knows how long now...

Now Seth was quite curious what changes his body must have undergone for it to be so noticeable the moment he awoke... but instead of opening his status he checked on the flash sale system first...

Instantly his expression morphed into a scowl...

Seth knew for one how rare it was to encounter a companion egg flash sale offer, of the offers he had gotten since this system was bound to him, it had only offered him a companion egg twice, the first he had claimed was the glyph dragon currently in slumber.

As for the other, it came with the astral cavalry package which was a mount and he had already given it out... with this one could understand how rare it was to come across such loot...

"I wonder how Brandon even got one..." he muttered, recalling the cute, furry red fox he had seen once sitting on the shoulder of his friend back in the origin realm.

Letting out a helpless sigh, there was no use worrying over spilled milk, with a swipe he pulled the origin system screen back into view.

Tapping to reveal his full status, as soldiers slowly stumbled awake around him but he ignored them for now as they were obviously still incoherent...

His eyes lit up, "Oh my!" he muttered pleasantly, his lips spreading into a grin, replacing the scowl stemming from loss.
