The world went silent, dragons laid still almost as though frozen in time, as ripples of divine energy pulsed brilliantly around the godly knight.
Bowing before her master, eyes glowing gold beneath her visor, her voice echoed thick with reverence.
"Greetings Master!"
Seth examined the knight in awe, a Remnant Incarnation indeed.
A knight of the divine, surely this guy should be able to fend these beasts off, buying Seth the space he needed to recover.
Plus there was a looming issue of the transformation...
[Warning! Further Draconic Transformation will be Activated in... 21s]
His gaze sharpened, "Protect me by all means!" He ordered, before his eyes snapped back shut, as his bones and organs damaged from the ambush attack pieced themselves together.
The goddess knight nodded, the solemn glow in her eyes thickening, "As you command my liege!"
Her frame rose to a full, staggering height of about 16-17 feet tall, towering over Seth even in his current state.
At a height that could be considered a giant in comparison to humans, but still quite small before a fully grown dragon.
A morphing glow gleamed in the divine knight’s grasp, coalescing into a sword glinting with a lethal edge.
In her other hand, a round shield, carrying the emblem of a sun peeking over the horizon, her presence growing stronger.
From armour to weapon everything gleaming gold, she turned to the dragons, her eyes scanning through the rabid frames of the horde finally settling onto the colossal frames of the two of the nine dragon prodigies.
Ignis and Blaze.
The orbs of light flickering beneath the Knight’s visor gleamed with disdain, as her cold, feminine but no less intimidating voice boomed.
"Anyone who approaches shall leave their heads behind!"
The command was cold, unwavering and threatening just like the speaker.
Ignis and Blaze glanced at one another, but still cautious they didn’t approach, they didn’t have to.
Roaaaaaarrrrr
Crazed roars tore through the skies like thunder, crimson-eyed dragons finally shedding away the instinctive fear of the divine, lunging en masse.
The maws flowing with streams of drool, throats pulsing with crimson charges, as the beasts attacked.
Knowing no fear, knowing no hesitation!
"Hmph!" The knight’s snort resounded.
Her shield gleamed, as a dome of protection encased Seth’s frame mid-air, while her blade on the other hand flipped.
A cluster of humongous beasts rushed her way, wings rippling red, as they streaked forward ready to claim Seth’s life.
In their eyes the knight never existed, their sole prime target had always been Seth, everything else was an obstacle.
And obstacles had to be trampled...
The knight took a slow deliberate step forward, her sword bursting into motion.
The relentless enemies caring not for her approach, instead tilting to snake around her frame and lunge for their target when...
A sharp flash sparked, a silent sound like the resonance of a sword slicing through the wind followed.
The dragons still charging, didn’t even understand how they died, everything just went dark.
All dragons that dared creep into range all reduced to bloodied decapitated projectiles.
The sword slice streaking so fast even the two spectating from afar felt a shudder at the sight, cause even they couldn’t track the movement of the knight’s weapon.
"S-should we still attack? Our plan is to delay, and the human doesn’t seem to be moving." Ignis nervously sputtered.
After all there was no need to risk themselves if this human wasn’t going to be heading to the core in this state anyways.
Blaze shook its head grimly, "Wrong! We have to strike now, that attack that got him to this state was a lucky strike, I can’t say with certainty we can deal that much damage again, especially since the element of surprise isn’t on our side any longer, and now he has help!"
The dragon’s thought was well reasoned, if they let Seth recover, hindering his advance would be far tougher.
Ignis growled reluctantly but didn’t object.
"So then how do we attack?..." Ignis’ voice rumbled low.
Blaze’s slits flickered, glancing at the distance, at the edges of the stretch of land where it all ended, leaving a massive, abysmal darkness beyond.
"I think I know what caused the storm previously!" Blaze muttered.
Its pupils turned towards the crazed hoard attacking relentlessly, while being slaughtered the moment they got within range of the enemy.
The match wasn’t close at all, it couldn’t even be classified as a battle but a one-sided slaughter.
And like deranged sheep offering themselves for slaughter, the dragons kept lunging, the fear of death absent from their hearts.
Their bodies piling into heaps and their blood flowing like streams.
Now Blaze couldn’t make these dragons attack more strategically, while it could give these lesser breeds command, it couldn’t be too complex or their madness would override it.
That was the cost of such power...
But that didn’t matter as Blaze wasn’t planning on giving complex orders anyways...
The dragon’s eyes locked on an attacking dragon, lunging for the divine knight, his will forming an instant mental communication connection.
But the crazed beast in question barely reacted, its full focus fixed on destroying its prey in one fell swoop.
Only the moment it was a step away from entering the knight’s range, among the group of four others of its kin.
Suddenly a voice boomed in its mind.
"Self Destruct!"
The mad dragon didn’t hesitate, without fear as a hindrance, the reverse flow of essence was triggered instantly.
Its flame core ruptured instantly, and its essence flooded and bloated its pathways.
Sensing this familiar frequency, Seth who was silently recovering opened his eyes in fright, as a bloating dragon drifted into view.
"NO-" Seth didn’t speak fast enough, and the knight’s blade already tore clean through the bloating beast’s head.
The knight finally seemed to sense something off... but it was too late.
Barely raising her shield for defence, both separated head and corpse gleamed brilliantly, the mass rupturing instantly after a painful swell, giving way for a cataclysmic, destructive force tearing through the sky and rattling the entire underground plain once more.
Fortunately, Seth was tucked safe within the knight’s protective force field, though cracks kept spreading through the entirety of the structure, it still remained relatively intact, shielding Seth away from the point-blank force.
Seth rose, his wings finally unraveling as the final dislocated bone spot popped back into place.
Meanwhile, suffering firsthand from the full brunt of the explosion was the divine knight, still intact but her presence noticeably weakened.
Blaze’s eyes lit up with glee, Ignis wearing a sinister grin, as both dragons finally found an effective but safe mode of attack.
"You know what to do sister, do not have mercy they would die facing the human regardless!" Blaze warned.
Ignis nodded, her will already spiraling into a mental connection with the dragon nearest to Seth and his knight.
Seth’s heart lurched cold, as what was left of the defensive shield crumbled into glowing motes of light.
The plain below riddled with cracks and uneven as sides of the earth rose and fell.
"Are you okay?" He asked the knight from above.
Nodding solemnly, the knight rose back up, the glow in her eyes refusing to weaken, "I remain strong, my liege!"
"Good." Seth nodded, "I see you’re good at defense, so you focus on protecting both me and yourself." Seth ordered.
Before turning his gaze back to the looming horde, muttering grimly, "I have a feeling that this stunt just now isn’t going to be the last!"
Raging roars rumbled as the dragons streaked into range, eyes glowing with rabid lights.
Seth frowned out of annoyance, by this point even the blind could see these guys just wanted to delay him.
Their aim was never to kill him, well at least that was for the two still-lurking dragons, the rest definitely wanted to rip him to shreds.
His eyes grew cold, as long as those two dragons remained, breaking into the core would be difficult, so first he would have to get rid of them first and foremost!
"Fine!" Seth sighed, his spear rippling dark, as he cocked into a pose.
Purple pulsing through the seams of his scales, "Destroy!" He whispered, his spear bursting forth with a calamitous might.
Within his mental space, two stars ignited bright, Armageddon and Hand of Tide.
The faint towering silhouette of a four-armed asura overlapped over his frame, its eyes glowing with unhinged will to battle as it imitated Seth’s pose as he sent his spear flying.
Raging current of both annihilation and the force of tide condensing at the tip.
The looming dragons only caught a glimpse of a homing streak, before their vision went dark, the force of annihilation tearing through their frames faster than they could process.
Leaving them into nothing but a fading pile of ash.
In one strike an entire group was deleted, the divine knight stared at Seth in awe.
Standing in the skies, Seth glared at the two dragons staying as far as possible away from Seth’s reach.
Seth blinked his focus, shifting to the glowing prompt flickering at the edge of his vision.
