Crawling up to its full height, the dragon’s furious voice tore through the skies.

Eyes burning with smoldering fury turned towards Seth’s direction, the dragon hissed, smoke flaring from its nostrils.

Its slits tightening, and its teeth clenched tight, that human had to pay.

Ash was going to make sure the human would die a horrific and painful death.

In all its life of living, it could count on one claw the number of times it had felt pain.

No one had ever humiliated it like this, its claws dug deep into the earth, as it leveled its weight, its hind leg pressing back like spring ready to propel.

Its wings unraveling to its full size, as a billowing mass of darkness cloaked its scales, drowning the faint traces of fiery red.

The earth cracked and sank, then suddenly... Boom!

The entire plain was leveled, the earth collapsing as the dragon sprang into the skies, its wings commanding the wind with fury, gales pouring wild around its frame as it streaked through the sky.

Eyes glowing with a deadly glint...

Meanwhile on Seth’s side...

He could clearly feel the fast looming presence, but he couldn’t act yet, he wasn’t done.

He remained calm, tendrils of vital essence seeping into the charred bodies of the soldiers.

Their bronze cells reigniting to life, his eyes glowed with calm relief treating them delicately, making sure not to overflow their still recovering damaged essence pathways.

Heavy gales began to rage, the sulphuric wind, whipping across like an unrelenting flood, accompanied with a steady rhythmic flap resounding from afar.

Seth’s senses covered all, and he could clearly feel his foe approaching faster than anticipated.

This was the first time he was witnessing a dragon with awakened innate gene skills, so it was only natural he didn’t mistakenly underestimate the monster’s capabilities.

He could sense the unique frequency of a gene skill activation from his foe, but fortunately it seemed to be only one...

That made sense, after all, these ancient bastards weren’t exposed to the origin, they hadn’t learned to acquire loot drops from the corrupted since they couldn’t access the origin realm.

His mind spiralled, calculating his next move, while his will suppressed the raging emotions of the glyph dragon.

Very soon, the glow around him began to flicker dim, as his supply of vital essence began to dwindle dry.

He spread his sense across all twenty soldiers, and fortunately it seemed what he had supplied them was enough, their dead cells shedding and the active ones rapidly dividing.

Their bodies, entering a phase of rapid recovery.

But therein lay the next problem. How to make sure what followed didn’t swallow them whole?

Seth’s eyes flickered as a dark shadow cast over them all.

A raging presence boiling through the area, as the dragon seemed to have entered a berserk state of some kind.

The wind currents raged more chaotically, as the dragon’s frame shifted, his body swaying to attack in an unforeseen manner.

Seth’s eyes darted upwards in shock, his face twisting into a scowl as his own wings unraveled.

The damned beast unpredictably launched a physical assault; here he was, mustering a plan to get his men to safety from the rage of a dragon’s breath.

But instead he was met with a whipping blur...

"How the fuck is it able to pull that off!" Seth hissed in fury, his wings launching him to the sky, his obsidian scales glowed more brilliantly as his arms formed a guard meeting the dragon’s tail whip!

His wings held their grip on the air, and his will did its best forming a tight anchor, as the subsonic attack lashed into impact!

The air itself broke, the thundering noise of impact, making the earth beneath heave and crack, the bodies of the recovering evolvers below stirring uncomfortably as blood leaked out of their still healing frames.

Seth couldn’t pay heed to any of this, too busy fighting against the force behind the tail’s attack.

"Fuck," he hissed, feeling a bone pop, it was as though this monster channeled its entire weight through the tail whip.

Seth had to fight with all his might in order to remain in place, the fact that he was in the air made it no easier.

His will bled in excess as he tried to hold his space, his wings beating against the force, his veins popping, as he groaned, summoning all his might to push it off.

His muscles ached, pulsing waves of pain sparking across multiple nerve endings, his body still yet to recover from the force he had wielded earlier.

Fortunately, the constitution bestowed by the dragon manifestation held, his veins either popped or ruptured, his tendons drew taut but didn’t snap.

He let out ragged breaths steadying himself in the furious storm of gales as the dragon’s frame never halted.

The beast spun, Seth might have thought of the tail whip but it had more where that came from, sharp glints littering the sky.

The shadows growing darker, as a claw swept Seth’s way.

’How the hell could something be so enormous yet remain sharp?’ Seth hissed his heart shaking in fear not for his safety but in worry of the still recovering comrades below.

This beast was relentless, and all while Seth had hoped to use its breath attack, it didn’t.

Now he had to scrap all earlier calculations, and find a way to relocate their clash.

If this continued, he would never gain the initiative, with him still having to worry about the guys below.

His muscles screamed in pain from exhaustion, his tendons numb, and his joints weak, without vital essence, quick recovery wouldn’t be possible.

This was exhaustion, and his base regenerative capabilities still weren’t enough to meet up to the current demand...

[Vitality: 541/804]

"This should be enough." he whispered silently, still praying his body would hold, his essence roiling like a raging current through his pathways.

Four stars igniting brilliantly to light in the sea of darkness, Seth roared to the sky, his body glowing with overwhelming power as all four innate gene skills flared to life...
