Infinite Evolution: Dominating The Apocalypse With My God Tier Items

Chapter 301: I Will Pry The Answer From Your Corpse!

  • Next Chapter

Since Seth had obtained this companion pet it had never relayed such intense complex emotions for him before.

Mostly relaying worry when it sensed its master in distress, excitement when Seth won battles and achievements.

Its mind was simple and incapable of complex thought, so it hardly bothered Seth and mostly rested forgotten.

Not that Seth would overlook such an asset, but it was just that so far there hadn’t been any enemies worthy of forcing him to merge with the glyph dragon.

But now standing before the hulking dark scaled dragon, looming over him, as the glyph dragon stirred communicating its overwhelming want.

Seth had never felt the glyph dragon so active before, it made him wonder, did the glyph dragon need to feed on dragons to get some kind of boost?

But that never made sense, he had killed and encountered so many flame dragons, and it had never reacted.

Plus the glyph dragon was of a different species and its origin was most likely not of earth, since Seth had acquired the pet egg from the flash sale system he couldn’t say.

But one thing was certain, this dragon must be special.

Just as he had this thought, his screen flickered, a screen he hadn’t seen in quite a while popped up.

A quest tab...

[Quest Allocated!!!]

[Quest: Feast of the Abyss...]

[Details: a creature bearing the mark of the abyss stands before you, a perfect meal for your pet companion the glyph dragon...]

[Rewards: pet companion evolution, Stat assimilation innate trait.]

Seth blinked in shock, short, brief and direct, a meal?

This beast? His eyes trailed upwards meeting the curious gaze of the black scaled dragon.

Seth wasn’t quite frightened that he would have to face this beast, that was the least of his worries.

It was the fact that since the glyph dragon was a parasite type pet, feeding it meant he’d have to devour it himself.

Judging by the size of this beast it had to have at least several metric tons of meat.

How the fuck was he supposed to devour that?

A low rumble resounded as a draconic tongue blended into the atmosphere quaking the land, as will warped them into understandable contexts for Seth.

"Human, are you the one?" The dragon asked, its tone lax and curious, almost playful.

Seth remained calm and unflinching, the dragon’s words causing him to halt his thoughts. His brows raised as he replied.

"The one? Except you are looking for a humble human strolling through to enjoy the view I will have to politely say ’I am not!’" His expression deadpan, he spat out a load of bullshit.

The dragon suddenly burst into uproarious laughter, its neck swinging its massive head backwards as its tightly tucked wings slacked down.

Maws lining with ivory glinting ferocious fangs, the dragon scoffed, "Father was right, humans are indeed the funniest!"

Suddenly its head lowered, closing on Seth in a blink, its snout so close to Seth’s helm, if not for the protective visor his nostrils would have been choked full with the foul mouth odour of the beast.

But he remained still, Seth had long assimilated to the working of a broader universe, he no longer read only reactions and expressions.

In a world where reactions and expressions varied based on one’s race, he was better off measuring them based on their gait balance, minute muscle movements and essence flow if perceivable.

So by judging these factors he could tell the dragon wasn’t making a move to attack... not yet.

"You little things are quite amusing," the dragon’s tongue rumbled, Seth’s helm diffusing out the excess noise while it spoke.

Its nose flared as it sniffed in Seth’s scent, its head retracting farther, "you say you’re just a passerby, yet you reek..." the dragon started, its eyes glowing as one of its claws stamped against the earth.

Seth’s brows raised, "Reek?" he asked, sneakily taking a whiff of his underarm.

He blinked in confusion, "reek of what?"

The dragon’s lips stretched its jagged teeth in full display, wearing a ferocious grin as it spoke its voice booming even louder. "You reek of the blood of my kin... tell me little human how many have you slain?"

Seth shrugged, ’well that was worth the try.’ he thought to himself, the instant he sensed essence mobilization from his opponent.

It seemed it was about to engage, he glanced at his essence unit stat...

[Essence Unit: 304/752]

He wasted no time, giving a mental command to mark his battle support.

"Activate, Essence reserves..."

Same second his armour hummed, as a chilled flow of refreshing essence seeped through his pores, flowing directly through his pathways and settling at his core.

His numbers climbed up in an instant...

[Essence Unit: 701/752]

Not perfectly full, but still okay... now Seth had a choice, find a way to ditch this foe and focus on the mission or engage and continue the mission after.

Normally option one was the most optimal choice but...

"Fuck it! Those rewards better be worth it!" he hissed as his essence roiled into action.

The dragon’s eyes glowed as the seams of its scales rippled with waves of crimson.

"No answer huh?" The dragon’s voice resounded as its wings arced, its claws digging trenches into the terrain as its gaze towards Seth shifted.

Its demeanour losing all playful air, as a will of an apex predator stirred, the temperature rising to impossible degrees as clouds of ashen mists surged out of its frame.

Seth’s form flickered, an astral path lighting up in his wake, as the dragon’s enormous wings clapped down upon him.

It was like a sonic rupture, as the air cracked, its fine manipulation of flame essence suppressing the sparks ignited from morphing into explosions.

The scorched earth shook, as the entire underground plane felt the impacts of the wings.

As the air compressed and shot out, the position Seth was once occupying reduced to nothing but a crater.

The dragon’s eyes remained locked on its distant prey, its throat rumbling as a wave of red welled.

Its voice boomed, "I will pry the answer from your corpse then..."

In the far distance, the astral path dimmed, and Seth’s armour revved ready for action.
