Infinite Evolution: Dominating The Apocalypse With My God Tier Items
Chapter 300: Ashen Dragons Arrival
Seth and the unit of 20 had finally reached a stretch of scorched land, not so arduous to scale like the last.
Meaning they were going to reach their destination faster than anticipated, with his scouting skills he had already marked the next outpost of the dragons.
If they arrived sooner, they could use the spare time to recover before launching their next attack.
With any luck the other units would have found their next targets and would have sent him location codes by then.
After all without that he wouldn’t be able to get to the dragons on their end from here.
These other matters could wait, for what brought most anticipation to Seth’s heart was the brief moment of recovery he was going to get.
His essence unit was running low, and a bit of recovery time would help a lot, with his battle suit recovery assist function he should be able to restore about 70% of the lost essence unit.
That... that would definitely be satisfying, already imagining the cool flow of essence channeling through his pathways, Seth hurried his pace.
With mental fatigue already eating at the edge of his mind.
He wondered, glancing at the others, if he was already feeling like this, how were they holding up?
After all they also expended essence just like him to battle, and without proper recovery after so long it was bound to hit them hard.
He sighed helplessly, well, there was nothing he could do, they could just get to their destination sooner, and get some rest, that would be the only help he could provide.
Plus he’d have to delay their next attack for a bit, so the others from the other fronts would gain a bit of rest too...
"I wonder how Uriel and the others are doing." He muttered beneath his voice.
He was also worried about them too, their mission might not be as hellish as the one assigned to his division, but it was still absurdly dangerous.
Seth didn’t know how the dragon forces were placed but he assumed they had to be troop abo-
His thought process suddenly halted, as his instincts spiked.
Tilted upwards, so fast the movement was a blur, the royal purple glare of his pupils simmering brighter as his vision honed into the distant skies.
The unit also halted in their tracks, sensing the sudden tension oozing from Seth’s body.
Their caution raised so high, sensing such a feeling from their leader was like a lamp suddenly igniting in the dark.
Their energy weapons hummed to life as they got into an attack stance, their eyes darting around wary of anything.
But the entire surroundings remained calm, and Seth, their leader, remained still.
Directing his hawking gaze silently at the sky, as though engaging in a staring contest, with whatever lay above the thick carpet of toxic clouds coating the flaming skies.
Well, under here there were no skies, but the ceiling was apparently so high up they might as well be...
Suddenly, Seth’s voice rang out loud and grim, "Retreat, and do not engage!"
The soldiers were startled, at the sudden command, why so sud-
Seth’s voice boomed again cutting their thought processing off, his words giving reply to the question in their hearts.
"Now or you will all be in the way!" he yelled louder as his expression twisted into a scowl.
His genetic battle suit revving with full power, his grim bone spear equipped, pulsing right into his grasp.
While the soldiers reacted promptly, their leader was so agitated that whatever was coming was definitely beyond their level to handle.
Their hearts shook, could it be a monster like that of which they encountered on just arriving to this cursed island?
A beast carrying powers and abilities beyond the awakened grade?
It couldn’t be right? They wondered, still holding doubts as they burst into full retreat.
That rush of fear that overcame them a few minutes back, could that be the source?
How come they couldn’t sense anything now?
No overwhelming presence of a threat, no stifling pressure of a higher form of essence.
The group moved fast and far, while their leader Doyle followed protocol and alerted the other units led by members of his team.
The others had to be aware ahead of a possible delay...
Back on Seth’s end, he stared silently at the sky, tracking a huge frame of a dragon lurking above the dense carpet of obscuring toxic gasses.
Holding such chaotic dense flame essence, his vision couldn’t penetrate through.
But that didn’t stop him from marking the location of the enemy.
The fact that such a large beast got this close to him without alert made him wary.
His fingers twitched, as a talisman appeared in their grasp, while the other tightened around his grim bone spear.
Right now Seth couldn’t tell if this foe was beyond the awakened grade, or if it wasn’t.
But he was ready regardless of the outcome, he had delayed too many dragons to be made nervous by one.
At most right now he was wary...
Seconds ticked by, and finally the cloud of toxic gasses stirred as a colossal silhouette sank down.
Massive wings, beating slightly against the wind at a tilted angle supporting the massive dragon’s descent.
Seth’s eyes narrowed at the sight, a black scaled dragon?
’Well... that was new.’ he observed in silence, his muscles coiling strong ready for action, while he maintained visual contact with the beast.
Plus... it was an awakened rank beast? Well then...
Without a second thought Seth returned the talisman back into his inventory.
Cain only allocated three to each division, they could summon mythic figures of the human race also dwelling in between dimensions like Eden and the Genesis Nest.
These humans carrying powers they’ve long cultivated beyond the awakened grade were their only weapons against dragons beyond the awakened grade.
So he had to manage them carefully, only utilizing them if need be like Cain had warned him.
Staring at the hulking beast, as it slowly landed a few miles before him, the terrain rattled and quaked in its wake.
The beast’s long neck lowered, craning its face low to examine its prey.
While Seth remained still, watching and silently anticipating the dragon’s next move.
When suddenly, before either party could do anything, his skin stung and itched as a certain pet companion stirred.
The glyph winding down his arm, writhing, the glyph dragon relaying its emotion directly to Seth...
Excitement, hunger, longing and intense want.
This little guy... it wanted to eat this dragon?
