Chapter 494: Chapter 494: Joining the Battle

The Raging Cat Demon’s overwhelming fury erupted like a miniature sun exploding in the night sky!

The terrifying heat instantly evaporated all the torrential rain Heath Summers had conjured.

The vast expanse of water vapor was instantly atomized, expanding like a blast of white steam before being devoured by the even more scorching flames.

"Watch out—!!"

Brandon Barton’s roar was drowned out by the inferno’s roar.

But Vincent Sharp reacted in a flash. With a push of his hands, a translucent Energy Protection Shield instantly unfurled, enveloping Brandon Barton’s entire squad!

The flames crashed against the Protective Shield, emitting a piercing SIZZLE.

The Protective Shield trembled violently, but ultimately, it held.

On another side, Nicholas Jensen unhurriedly pulled an oddly shaped bracelet from his backpack and slipped it onto his wrist.

The next second, a deep blue shield of light expanded from his body, perfectly sealing him off from the flames.

Inside the shield, Nicholas Jensen adjusted his glasses, watching the sea of fire outside with a deadpan expression, as if none of it concerned him.

But the others weren’t so lucky.

Eugene Jensen had been full of confidence.

He was the leader of the Ironwall Squad, renowned for his defense.

’He thought he could withstand this kind of flame.’

However—

"Boss! It hurts! This fire won’t go out!!"

A blood-curdling scream came from one of his men.

The blue flames on his body burned frantically. No matter how he rolled or slapped at them, they wouldn’t go out.

"AHHH—!!!"

Amidst the screams, the man was reduced to a pile of ash in seconds.

Eugene Jensen’s pupils contracted violently.

He could only watch as his men were devoured by the flames one by one, their bodies reduced to charred corpses.

"No—!"

He roared, but he was powerless to do anything.

When the flames finally reached his own arm, the searing, heart-piercing pain snapped him back to his senses.

A blade flashed.

Eugene Jensen sliced off his own left arm.

The moment the severed arm hit the ground, it was incinerated to ash by the blue flames.

He clutched the profusely bleeding stump, his face ghastly pale and his eyes filled with terror.

The Ironwall Squad was almost completely wiped out.

...

On Seraphina Sullivan’s side, thanks to Paul Payne’s [Mysterious Guardian], the terrifying [Fury] Talent was completely neutralized.

But the heat from the flames was still real.

Even if they weren’t being continuously scorched, the onrushing heatwave was enough to be suffocating.

This was especially true for Flora Sullivan.

As a plant-based being, her sensitivity to fire was far greater than any human’s.

When the terrifying heatwave washed over her, her face turned deathly pale. The green light emanating from her body flickered violently, and she swayed as if about to collapse.

Without hesitation, Seraphina Sullivan raised her hand and cast [Flower Therapy].

A verdant light poured into Flora Sullivan’s body, and some color immediately returned to her face.

Immediately after, Seraphina Sullivan activated another Skill—

[Clean Bubble]!

A huge, transparent bubble expanded from her fingertip, enveloping everyone nearby.

The bubble’s interior was filled with a high concentration of water vapor.

This vapor continuously evaporated against the flames, drawing away heat and keeping the temperature inside the bubble within a barely tolerable range.

Flora Sullivan took a deep breath and gave Seraphina Sullivan a grateful look. "Boss... I’m much better."

Seraphina Sullivan nodded, her gaze locking back onto the rampaging Raging Cat Demon.

"It’s our turn to fight."

Her voice was calm, yet carried an undeniable resolve.

’I won’t let anyone have the Lord’s Sanctuary.’

She slowly raised the [Universal Sniper Rifle] in her hands, its muzzle aimed at the Raging Cat Demon’s massive head.

The [Crimson Gemstone] on her brow began to glow with an eerie light.

Skill—[Space Bullet]!

The moment Seraphina Sullivan pulled the trigger, time itself seemed to slow down.

BANG—

There was no whistle of an ordinary bullet, only a nearly transparent beam of energy that shot from the muzzle, tearing through the air. It left a faint black fissure in its wake—the mark of space itself being briefly ripped open.

The Space Bullet’s target was the Raging Cat Demon’s head.

But just as the bullet was about to strike, the colossal beast of flame seemed to sense the mortal danger and abruptly jerked its massive body to the side!

It dodged the fatal blow.

The bullet sank into its shoulder.

The next second, a terrifying sight unfolded: where the Space Bullet made contact, a chunk of the shoulder—formed of pure, condensed flame—simply vanished into thin air!

It didn’t explode or burn away. Instead, a perfectly smooth, circular hole abruptly appeared on its shoulder, as if that section of space had been completely "erased."

The Raging Cat Demon threw back its head and let out a blood-curdling shriek, its roar laced with pain and fear for the first time.

At the edge of the hole, the flames struggled to coalesce, but they were unable to fill the gap that had been erased by the power of Space.

Everyone on the battlefield saw it happen.

Brandon Barton’s pupils contracted. His gaze locked onto the hole that had suddenly appeared, then followed the bullet’s trajectory to a slender figure standing with a rifle atop some distant ruins.

"Someone else joined the fight?" he asked, his voice filled with shock. "Who is that? That Ability... it’s horrifying!"

The rain clouds swirling around Heath Summers even seemed to pause for a moment.

She looked in that direction, her expression unreadable beneath her rain-soaked eyelashes. ’A Space Ability? Or some kind of special bullet...’

Vincent Sharp sucked in a sharp breath. He instinctively glanced at the Protective Shield he had just deployed and silently calculated, ’If that shot had been aimed at us, could this shield have stopped it?’

The answer sent a chill down his spine.

...

Seraphina Sullivan’s attack had landed, but she showed no sign of joy.

She knew that while the shot had wounded the beast, it was far from enough to kill it.

"Sean Chandler."

"Understood!"

A muffled growl came from behind her.

Sean Chandler’s body suddenly expanded. His muscles bulged, and thick black fur sprouted from his skin.

In the blink of an eye, the burly man vanished, replaced by a massive Great Bear Demon Beast standing a full three meters tall!

The great bear roared, dropped to all fours, and charged toward the Raging Cat Demon.

Fortified by Paul Payne’s Mysterious Guardian, Sean Chandler had no fear of the all-consuming flames.

He charged directly into the sea of fire, his massive bear paws slamming viciously into the Raging Cat Demon as his sharp claws tore through its flesh of condensed flame.

The Raging Cat Demon cried out in pain and twisted its head to spew a pillar of fire.

But the great bear didn’t even try to dodge. It charged through the pillar of fire, clamped its jaws around the Cat Demon’s neck, and the two behemoths began to tear and claw at each other in the ruins!

Flames flew everywhere. With the roars of the bear and the shrieks of the cat, the scene was absolutely stunning.

...

In the distance, Nicholas Jensen stood inside his blue shield of light, his eyes wide with disbelief.

"Holy crap, who is that? So badass! He’s not even afraid of the fire?" he muttered to himself, before it dawned on him. "Wait, why does that Ability look so familiar..."

He narrowed his eyes, carefully studying the great bear’s movements, then glanced at the figures gathered around Seraphina Sullivan in the distance.

"Beastification Ability? Is that... Sean Chandler?" Nicholas Jensen realized with a start. "That’s right. The survivors from Vorlag City entered the Central Base, so it makes sense they’d be here!"
