Chapter 493: Chapter 493: Branch Staff, Besieging the Raging Cat Demon

Seraphina Sullivan looked at the item.

[Branch Staff]

[Type: Enhancement Item]

[Effect: Flourishing Flora—While holding this staff, the power of all plant-based attacks is increased by 30%.]

[Note: What appears to be an ordinary branch is actually a fragment of a scepter lost by a certain forest sovereign.]

Seraphina Sullivan held the branch, silent for two seconds.

Then she turned to look at Flora.

Flora was squatting nearby, staring eagerly at the branch in her hand, her small mouth slightly agape, almost drooling.

"...Here." Seraphina Sullivan handed over the Branch Staff.

The moment Flora took it, her whole body lit up.

Not figuratively, she literally lit up—a layer of emerald light washed over her, the tips of her hair grew wildly, and her entire being seemed to merge with the branch.

"Boss!" She hugged the Branch Staff, her eyes full of stars. "I can feel my Power... it’s gotten so, so much stronger!"

Seraphina Sullivan nodded, the corners of her mouth twitching up slightly.

The item was indeed useless in her hands.

But in Flora’s hands, the amplification was dozens of times greater.

’Worth it.’

Meanwhile, Crystal Lynn had also gotten something good.

It was an egg.

An egg half a meter tall, its surface covered in complex patterns, faintly emitting a warm glow.

Crystal Lynn cradled it in both hands, a look of shocked delight on her face.

"Is that... a pet egg?" Dexter Luther leaned in, his eyes wide. "What’s gonna hatch from it?"

Crystal Lynn shook her head, but she couldn’t hide the smile playing on her lips.

No matter what hatched, for someone with her Beast Taming Talent, one more companion meant that much more combat strength.

Everyone had grown stronger.

After opening the Treasure Chests, the group rested for a few more hours.

As dusk fell and the heatwave outside the garage began to subside, Seraphina Sullivan stood up.

"It’s time."

She took out the [Three Realms Compass] and looked at the slowly moving point of light on its surface.

"Let’s move out."

The group responded in unison, gathered their gear, and walked out of the garage.

The Four Seasons Deer were already waiting at the entrance, their emerald forms like pools of flowing green light.

The night air was still scorching, but it was much better than during the day.

The group mounted the deer and galloped off in the direction indicated by the Compass.

Seraphina Sullivan sat upright on the back of the Four Seasons Deer Alpha, the [Universal Sniper Rifle] already materialized in her hands.

The body of the rifle gleamed with a dark metallic luster, looking exceptionally cold in the night.

The group sped in the direction indicated by the Compass.

This was the night of the second day since the event began.

Along the way, Seraphina Sullivan could clearly sense that the number of people out searching for Treasure Chests and a chance to become a Player was several times greater than yesterday.

It wasn’t just Players.

It was mostly ordinary people.

Survivors who had once only been able to struggle for their lives in the apocalypse.

A light of hope burned in their eyes, desperate to find a [Player Key] within these three days and change their own fate.

"HAHAHA! I did it! I’m a Player now!"

A roar of ecstasy came from the distance.

Immediately after, a heart-wrenching cry rang out from another direction.

"That’s mine! I’m the one who found it first!"

"Get lost! I got it, so it’s mine!"

Screams, roars, gunshots, explosions... they rose and fell one after another.

At this moment, the nature of humanity in the apocalypse was laid bare.

Seraphina Sullivan rode past these sounds, her expression blank.

She didn’t have time for this.

She had only one goal.

...

When they arrived at the Raging Cat Demon’s location, the scene before them left everyone stunned.

The giant Cat Demon was currently under siege.

Not by a few people.

But by many.

"Sullivan! Look over there! It’s Brandon Barton and his team!" Dexter Luther pointed to one side of the battlefield.

Seraphina Sullivan had already seen them.

Or rather, she had seen it even before they got close to the battlefield.

In the dark of night, lightning flashed and thunder roared, dark clouds gathered, fierce winds howled, and rain poured down in torrents.

The terrifying downpour was clearly not natural.

It could only be the Ability of Heath Summers, the Child of Weather.

The young woman who could control the weather, whom they had met once in Kaelen, was now standing behind Brandon Barton’s squad, her hands raised high as she used all her strength to conjure a downpour over the Raging Cat Demon.

The rain fell on the Cat Demon’s blue Flame, making a SIZZLING sound and sending up clouds of white steam.

Those inextinguishable flames finally began to weaken under the torrential rain.

"Nice work!" came Brandon Barton’s roar. "Keep up the pressure! Everyone else, full-on assault!"

But Brandon Barton’s squad wasn’t the only one laying siege to the Raging Cat Demon.

"HAHAHA! As long as we kill this lord monster, we’ll get the Lord’s Sanctuary! Then I’ll be my own king, no more sucking up to any other base!"

A coarse voice echoed across the battlefield.

Seraphina Sullivan followed the voice with her eyes—it was Eugene Jensen.

The leader of Ironwall was currently holding his enormous shield at the very front of his team.

Behind him, dozens of Ironwall members were frantically unleashing damage, all sorts of Skills smashing into the Raging Cat Demon.

"Listen up, men! Kill it! Whoever gets the last hit gets a huge reward!"

"YES, SIR!!!"

But they weren’t the ones dealing the most damage to the Raging Cat Demon.

On another side of the battlefield, another person appeared.

Nicholas Jensen was floating in mid-air, a bizarrely shaped weapon resting on his shoulder.

The thing looked like a giant beehive, its surface densely packed with holes.

The next second—

"BZZZZ—!"

Countless miniature drones shot out from the beehive, like a real Bee Swarm, blotting out the sky as they swarmed the Raging Cat Demon!

Every drone that hit the Cat Demon triggered a violent explosion!

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM—!"

The light from the explosions illuminated half the sky.

The Raging Cat Demon let out a pained screech, the flames on its body flaring violently.

"So many people..." Crystal Lynn murmured. "Are they all here to fight for the Lord’s Sanctuary?"

Seraphina Sullivan didn’t answer.

Her gaze was fixed on the Cat Demon.

Then, her expression changed.

"Fall back!" she snapped. "Everyone, fall back now! The Raging Cat Demon is about to enter its fury state!"

The words had barely left her mouth—

"ROAR—!!!"

An ear-piercing shriek tore through the night sky!

The sound was filled with endless rage and... impending destruction!

Everyone watched in horror as the Cat Demon, originally the size of a truck, began to expand wildly!

Ten meters.

Twenty meters.

Fifty meters.

One hundred meters!

In the blink of an eye, it had become a true behemoth!

It was the Skill, [Gigantification].

The blue flames covering the gigantified Cat Demon’s body turned a blinding, incandescent white!

The temperature was so high that simply being near it caused the surroundings to begin to melt!

It opened its massive maw—

A terrifying ball of Fury, like a volcanic eruption, swept out in all directions!

"Paul Payne!"

Seraphina Sullivan’s voice cut through the chaos.

Paul Payne was already prepared.

He pressed his palms together. His face instantly turned pale, but his eyes were incredibly determined.

[Mysterious Guardian]—activate!

A faint, shimmering wave of Energy instantly enveloped Seraphina Sullivan, Flora, Sean Chandler, Dexter Luther, and Crystal Lynn!

The next second, the Fury washed over them!
