Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 448: Hypnotic Aura, Fall Down
Chapter 448: Chapter 448: Hypnotic Aura, Fall Down
Dr. Ford raised his binoculars, his hands trembling slightly with excitement. "It’s an Armored Stegosaurus! A large monster.
"It may not be a catastrophe-class monster, but it’s still extremely dangerous!
"Its hide is incredibly tough. Conventional weapons can hardly penetrate it!
"It couldn’t be more perfect for testing the poison!"
Sharon Lynn hid behind the adults, only daring to sneak a peek before shrinking back, intimidated by the sheer presence of the massive beast.
"We’ve found a monster, but..."
Dr. Ford lowered his binoculars, his brow furrowed. The practical problem lay before them.
"How do we get close to it? And how do we get it to ingest these poisons?
"It must be highly alert, and if we startle it, the consequences will be unthinkable."
Chet Lucius, however, seemed to have a plan already. "We can wait for it to rest," he said calmly, "then approach it quietly and look for an opportunity."
Hearing this, Dr. Ford couldn’t help but shake his head with a wry smile, thinking the young man was being far too idealistic.
"Lucius, you’re making it sound too simple.
"A monster of this size has extremely sharp senses, even while resting. With so many of us, we’ll be easily discovered.
"Besides, even if it is asleep, how are we supposed to pour the poison down its throat?
"How large of a dose and what kind of container would that even require?"
Seraphina Sullivan, however, didn’t immediately dismiss Chet Lucius. She looked at him and saw the steady look in his eyes; he clearly wasn’t joking.
She immediately realized that for him to say such a thing, he must have something to back it up—most likely a special Ability or item.
Sure enough, Chet Lucius gave Seraphina Sullivan and Flora Sullivan a subtle look, signaling for them to play along.
Seraphina understood at once. She immediately turned and said to Dr. Ford and Sharon Lynn, "Dr. Ford, Sharon, let’s head behind those ruins over there and bring back some usable metal plates or containers. Maybe we can figure out a way to build a simple delivery device.
"Chet Lucius, you stay here and keep an eye on the monster’s movements. Be careful."
Although Dr. Ford felt it was a long shot, he couldn’t very well object when Seraphina Sullivan had already sprung into action. So he took Sharon Lynn and followed Seraphina and Flora toward the ruins of a relatively intact factory building not far away.
Once they disappeared around a corner of the ruins, Chet Lucius’s gaze returned to the "Armored Stegosaurus" strolling leisurely in the distance.
He took a deep breath, slowly raising his hands and crossing them in front of his chest, palms facing each other.
An invisible, indescribable wave of Energy began to gather around him.
This wasn’t the aggressive, frenzied Energy of an attack, but one that carried a profound, tranquil, and strange rhythm, as if capable of calming all creation.
Deep within his eyes, a faint golden pattern flashed and disappeared.
Skill activated—[Hypnotic Aura]!
A halo, almost invisible to the naked eye and resembling a pale golden ripple, spread out from Chet Lucius—silently, yet with incredible speed!
The halo swept through the air, across the ground, and over the ruins... finally, it precisely enveloped the massive "Armored Stegosaurus" hundreds of meters away.
The Stegosaurus monster, which had been slowly chewing on some sort of plant, abruptly froze.
It seemed to sense something. Its massive head lifted blankly and shook once, a trace of confusion flickering in its crimson eyes.
But in the next moment, an irresistible, tide-like wave of deep drowsiness swept over its massive body and relatively simple brain without warning.
The drowsiness was so peaceful and comfortable, like a return to some primordial tranquility, that the beast had no will to resist it.
Its eyelids grew as heavy as mountains, and its consciousness rapidly faded.
"BOOM—!!!"
A muffled crash, far heavier than the sound of its footsteps, rang out. The giant Stegosaurus monster’s limbs gave way, and its massive body, like an unsupported mountain, toppled heavily onto its side!
The ground shook violently, and a cloud of dust billowed into the air!
It had... just like that, in broad daylight, out in the open, fallen into the deepest Sleep without any warning!
It even let out a soft snore, like the rumble of distant thunder!
In the distance, Dr. Ford and Sharon Lynn, who were just emerging from the ruins carrying a broken metal plate, were startled by the sudden crash and tremor. They looked blankly in the direction of the sound.
Seraphina Sullivan and Flora Sullivan exchanged a look, a flicker of both understanding and surprise in their eyes.
’Chet Lucius’s Ability... was even stranger and more powerful than they had imagined.’
’The trump cards of this temporary ally were just as unfathomable.’
The first step of the poison experiment.
Getting the target monster to lie down cooperatively—it had been accomplished with such ease, in such an unbelievable way.
Next was the matter of how to administer the poison.
"Lucius, you were right! This monster... it’s really asleep!"
Dr. Ford lowered his binoculars, his face a mask of utter disbelief.
The distant behemoth lay on its side like a small mountain, snoring like thunder, deep in slumber.
But after the shock wore off, the practical problems resurfaced. "Even if it’s asleep, getting close to it is still extremely dangerous!
"If it unconsciously rolls over or even sneezes, it could kill us!
"And... who’s going to be the one to administer this poison? And how?"
He looked at the few bottles of poison, which exuded a dangerous air, then at the slumbering beast in the distance, feeling that this whole plan was completely insane.
Seraphina Sullivan and Chet Lucius exchanged a glance and spoke almost in unison:
"I’ll go!"
"I’ll go!"
They both understood that this mission was dangerous, but it was also an opportunity to showcase their abilities and earn trust.
More importantly, neither of them wanted to back down in front of the other.
Dr. Ford looked at the determined glint in the two young people’s eyes and was at a loss for words. He finally let out a sigh and gave them a solemn warning, "You two... must be extremely careful!
"Don’t push yourselves. If it’s too much, retreat immediately!"
Sharon Lynn also nervously tugged on the corner of Seraphina Sullivan’s clothes. "Sullivan, you have to... you have to come back safely!"
Seraphina Sullivan knelt down and ruffled her hair. "Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon.
"Flora, while I’m gone, protect Dr. Ford and Sharon."
Flora Sullivan nodded firmly, her young face serious. "I will complete the mission!"
With their roles assigned, Seraphina Sullivan and Chet Lucius each picked up two sealed canisters of the Highly Poisonous Potion.
Like two swift cheetahs, they moved silently and rapidly toward the sleeping Armored Stegosaurus.
With Dr. Ford and Sharon Lynn no longer present, the two of them no longer needed to deliberately maintain their Disguise as "ordinary survivors."
Their speed was astonishing. They weaved nimbly between the ruins and rubble, covering the several-hundred-meter distance in no time at all, until they stood beside the beast’s cliff-like body.
Up close, the monster’s terrifying nature was even more palpable.
Its rough, rock-like skin was covered in old battle scars and overgrown bone spurs. Every heavy breath stirred up a small whirlwind, and the air was thick with the heavy stench of a wild beast and a faint, sulfur-like smell of Energy.
