Chapter 447: Chapter 447: Poisoning the Monster, Making the Poison

Dr. Ford’s brow furrowed again.

"The sheer size and Life Force of a Cataclysm-Class Monster are terrifying. To inflict lethal damage with poison, the required dose would have to be astronomical!

And delivering such a massive amount of poison precisely into their bodies would be another immense challenge."

Chet Lucius, however, read between the lines of Seraphina Sullivan’s words.

He looked at Seraphina Sullivan, his gaze sharp. "Miss Sullivan, you seem to have given this method some thought?

Could it be... that you possess some special poison formulas? Or... a way to solve the delivery problem?"

’I remember Seraphina Sullivan saying her sister had the Ability to control plants,’ he thought. ’Some Highly Poisonous plants could perhaps provide the raw materials.’

’As for delivery...’ His mind went to Seraphina Sullivan’s mysterious sniper rifle. ’Maybe... she can create some kind of Special Bullet that can inject poison?’

Seraphina Sullivan didn’t admit to it directly, only saying calmly:

"It’s just a concept. Flora and I found some mutated plants on our journey that were extremely toxic. We might also be able to find pesticides in the ruins of a city’s agricultural supply store. As for delivery... there’s always a way. For instance, we could poison their food or water, or inject it after creating a wound.

If this method works, not only will it validate a potential way to kill giant monsters, but a successful kill would also provide a complete monster corpse for Dr. Ford to study. It would kill two birds with one stone."

Chet Lucius’s eyes flickered as he weighed the risks and rewards of the proposal. Finally, he slowly nodded. "It’s certainly worth a try.

If we can really find an effective method against Cataclysm-Class Monsters, even if it only weakens or repels them, it will be a huge boost to our survival and mission success."

Dr. Ford looked at the two young people before him—one calmly proposing a bold idea, the other decisively supporting the risky endeavor—and couldn’t help but sigh. "You young people... your ideas are truly bold, and your nerve is even bolder!

But... scientific research sometimes requires just this kind of bold thinking and adventurous spirit.

If you really plan to try this, this old man will do everything in my power to help analyze the poison’s components and its potential Effect!"

With the bold new plan to "poison a Cataclysm-Class Monster," the team’s objective seemed to sharpen, dispelling some of the monotony and oppression of their long journey.

They followed the ghastly, giant footprints along the highway, simultaneously searching through the ruins of towns they passed, each destroyed to varying degrees.

Seraphina Sullivan and Chet Lucius made a "point" of looking for chemical plants, pesticide warehouses, or any place that might have stored highly corrosive or Highly Poisonous chemicals.

Of course, this was mostly for show, for the benefit of Dr. Ford and Sharon Lynn.

In the ruins of what looked like a small chemical plant warehouse, Seraphina Sullivan "luckily" found several perfectly sealed metal containers. In reality, they were empty bottles she had taken from her Space. Using the excuse of cleaning and inspecting them, she went into a relatively enclosed room by herself.

With a flicker of thought, she activated her [Pharmacist] Profession Ability!

She held out her right hand, palm up, as her spiritual power began to converge with some kind of strange Energy.

A faint light seemed to flicker in the air. Droplets of a viscous liquid—some inky green, some deep purple, some even giving off a bizarre fluorescent glow—materialized out of thin air above her palm, dripping with precision into the metal bottles.

The liquid gave off a heart-stopping, cloyingly sweet and foul stench. The smell alone was enough to make one dizzy—this was the [Highly Poisonous Potion] she had "concocted" using her Profession knowledge.

Although limited by materials and proficiency, this was far from the ultimate poison capable of killing a Cataclysm-Class Monster. However, its toxicity would definitely have a significant weakening, or even lethal, Effect on large creatures.

Soon, the bottles were full. Seraphina Sullivan sealed them and attached simple labels.

Using a pen she’d found, she wrote "Unknown Toxin - Caution!" on them.

Then, with a "relieved" expression, she brought them out.

"Dr. Ford, I found something! These containers were well-sealed, and it seems the residual chemicals inside mixed and created some unknown, highly toxic substance!"

Seraphina Sullivan handed the bottles to Dr. Ford.

Dr. Ford kept his distance, carefully observing the color and state of the liquid inside the bottles. He then cautiously sniffed the faint odor lingering in the air, his expression immediately turning both excited and grave.

"This color and smell... it’s highly unusual!

Sullivan, your assessment was correct. This is very likely a Highly Poisonous substance created by the accidental mixing of several chemicals!

We must store it with extreme care!"

He immediately found some cushioning material, carefully wrapped the bottles of poison, and placed them in his research sample case.

Meanwhile, Seraphina Sullivan had told Sharon Lynn to stay far away. The young girl’s face was a mixture of fear and curiosity.

Chet Lucius watched from the side, naturally understanding what Seraphina Sullivan had done.

His perception of her Abilities deepened.

And at the same time, his vigilance grew.

A Player with superhuman sniping skills who could also create such a potent poison on a whim—the threat she posed was self-evident.

"The poison is ready. Now the biggest problems are finding a suitable ’test subject’ and... figuring out how to make it ingest the poison safely?"

Dr. Ford said, looking at the carefully wrapped bottles with a mix of anticipation and anxiety.

He was anticipating the research breakthrough a successful experiment would bring, but he was also anxious about the immense risks of the actual operation.

Seraphina Sullivan didn’t answer directly. Instead, she used her [Bird Manipulation Technique] again, controlling a small bird to fly high into the sky and expand their reconnaissance range.

"Let’s find our target monster first. We’ll figure out the rest when we get there." Her voice was calm, as if she already had a plan.

Chet Lucius nodded as well, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon as if he were sensing something.

The group pressed on, tracking the footprints and constantly adjusting their direction with the help of Seraphina Sullivan’s "eye in the sky."

Finally, after passing through an industrial park that had been razed to the ground, Seraphina Sullivan saw their target through the bird’s shared vision—

On a vast, relatively flat expanse that might have once been farmland or pasture, a colossal, mountain-like figure was moving slowly.

It was a terrifying behemoth, over fifty meters tall and nearly a hundred meters long!

It had a silhouette similar to a prehistoric Stegosaurus, with two rows of bony plates lining its back. But these plates weren’t pure bone; they glinted with a dark, metallic luster, and their edges were as sharp as blades.

Its thick limbs were like colossal pillars, and with every step, the ground boomed with a dull roar, leaving a deep crater in its wake.

A long, spike-covered tail, like a battering ram, dragged behind it. A casual swing was enough to flatten a swath of remaining ruins.

This was the owner of the giant footprints they had seen on the highway!

"Found it! It’s the monster that left the footprints!" Seraphina Sullivan retracted her spiritual power and pointed toward the open land.
