Chapter 409: Chapter 409: All Become Delicacies

But Seraphina Sullivan’s face showed no trace of fear.

"Nightmare God’s Favored? The strongest in the dream realm?"

She repeated Dex’s words, a light swirling in her scarlet eyes, carrying a sense of condescending scrutiny and mockery.

"Sorry, but in my presence, you creatures from the gutter..."

She raised a hand, fingers spread, and with a gentle wave, faced the surging black tide.

"—all of you, turn into delicious food. At least then you’ll be good for something."

The [Pastry Chef] Profession Skill activated—[Sticky Frost Sugar]!

There was no earth-shattering commotion.

Only a cloud of extremely fine dust, shimmering with a dreamy, pale pink light.

As if carried by an invisible wind, it gently drifted out from the direction she had waved, instantly spreading over a large area in front of her.

The pink dust looked beautiful and harmless, even carrying a sweet fragrance.

However, anything the dust touched—whether it was the baring-fanged, pouncing nightmares, the screaming Low Rank minions, or Dex and his teammates standing in the rear preparing to use other Skills, including the ornate carpet beneath their feet and the very air itself—all of it came to a sudden halt!

A layer of translucent, yet exceptionally sticky and tough, pink Sugar Frosting rapidly formed on their bodies.

"Ugh?! What the hell is this stuff?!"

"I-I can’t move!"

"My feet are stuck! Is this sugar?! It’s syrup!"

Dex was both shocked and enraged.

He tried to move, only to find his feet were firmly fixed to the ground, as if mired in the deepest, stickiest tar pit.

He struggled to raise a hand to cast a spell.

But his arm was quickly covered in a thick, sticky, pink sugar shell.

It made his movements incredibly slow and heavy.

His teammates cried out in alarm one after another.

Someone tried to hack at the sugar shell with a weapon, only to send more sugar flakes flying.

The shell seemed to have a life of its own, constantly regenerating and strengthening.

"Boss! Look over there!!"

A teammate, half of his body stuck fast, pointed toward the onrushing tide of nightmares, his voice filled with unconcealable terror.

Dex struggled to turn his head. What he saw next was a scene that would be seared into his memory for the rest of his life—one that might even become his new nightmare:

After the nightmares at the very front touched the pink dust and were immobilized by [Sticky Frost Sugar], Seraphina’s figure cut in among them like a phantom.

She didn’t even use the [Demon Eyes] Spirit Attack.

She simply extended a seemingly fair, slender finger and lightly tapped a nightmare encased in the sugar shell.

Talent: [Magic Cuisine] activated!!

POP! SQUISH! SIZZLE—

A series of soft sounds was accompanied by a flash of bizarre light.

The Split-Mouth Clown nightmare’s twisted body rapidly swelled and deformed.

It turned a crispy, golden-brown, transforming into a giant, grotesque sandwich cookie shaped like a clown’s face that seemed to be fixed in a silent, savage grin, the cracks in its Sugar Frosting resembling greasepaint.

Clayton Quinn’s shadow clone collapsed and condensed, becoming a black lava chocolate cake that constantly oozed black syrup.

The other Low Rank Nightmare Minions transformed into all sorts of strange things.

Some became eyeball macarons skewered with twisted candy canes.

Some turned into cream puff towers oozing with purple jam.

Others simply collapsed into a large, bubbling puddle of caramel pudding.

In just a few short seconds, the once-menacing Nightmare Legion, a symbol of fear and malice, had been spectacularly transformed into piles of bizarrely shaped, yet undeniably sweet-smelling, pastry delicacies!

The momentum of the nightmares’ charge came to a screeching halt.

Hiding at the back of the banquet hall, Princess Truffles’s eyes lit up as she watched.

"Wow! That’s amazing! If I had an Ability like that, I’d never be hungry again, would I?"

But on the other side... "This... This is impossible!"

Dex’s voice had completely changed pitch.

He was now filled with a sense of absurdity and a bone-deep terror.

He stared at the creations he had summoned—the very symbols of the Nightmare God’s authority—now turned into a pile of ridiculous desserts.

His faith and his entire understanding of the world were taking a massive blow.

Meanwhile, the black-haired "Eureka," who had been watching from the rear like a bystander, finally let his perpetually calm expression crack.

It happened when he saw Seraphina Sullivan’s Ability to transform nightmare Energy into all sorts of tangible desserts.

His eyes, as deep as night and seemingly capable of swallowing all light, suddenly narrowed.

He locked his gaze firmly onto Seraphina Sullivan.

Especially when he saw the special Favored Ability flowing from her fingertips.

A low-spoken word, laced with a hint of disbelief and sudden realization, slowly escaped his lips:

"The God of Cuisine’s... Favored?!"

He finally understood why this seemingly ordinary human Pastry Chef could so easily break down, and even digest, the nightmare’s Energy!

Because behind her stood that most ancient, most unreasonable existence, one who could view all of creation as "ingredients" to be cooked and defined.

The God of Cuisine!

The conflict between nightmare and sweet dream, it seemed, had become... more complex and interesting, thanks to the unexpected arrival of this "third-party" Favored.

Seraphina Sullivan stood amidst a pile of "nightmare desserts," the scarlet tips of her hair stirring without a wind. She scanned her "creations" with satisfaction.

Then she turned her gaze back to Dex and the others, who were stuck in place, and gave them a smile that, in their eyes, was that of a demon.

"Would you like to become a delicious dessert, too?"

Seraphina’s earlier words, "I wonder if I can become your nightmare," echoed like a demon’s whisper.

It lingered in Dex’s ears, causing the fear in his heart to grow wild like weeds.

His body trembled uncontrollably.

But Seraphina had no intention of giving him any chance to catch his breath or reply.

After dealing with the nightmares and minions and turning the battlefield into a bizarre dessert exhibition, Seraphina’s scarlet eyes locked onto Dex, who was stuck fast by the [Sticky Frost Sugar].

With a light tap of her foot, her figure darted toward him like a phantom, closing in fast!

"AHHHH! Stay away from me—!!"

One of Dex’s underlings with weaker mental fortitude saw Seraphina’s approaching figure, wreathed in an inhuman red glow and walking with a leisurely pace.

The memory of the horrifying scene from moments before—his comrades and the other nightmares being turned to sugar with a single touch—finally shattered his mind!

He let out a bloodcurdling scream and struggled desperately, but he was trapped by the sticky syrup, unable to move. All he could do was watch helplessly as Seraphina, the very incarnation of fear, drew closer and closer.

The Aura of fear emanating from him was so thick it was almost tangible, becoming a prime source of nourishment for nightmare Energy.

Seraphina’s small, fair hand touched him for an instant,

BANG!

The next second, the man turned into a loaf of bread.

Seeing this happen up close, Dex was scared out of his wits!

He had never encountered an enemy so bizarre, so unreasonable, so powerful!

Her method of attack was completely beyond his comprehension.
