Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 338: Space Bullet and Flower Therapy Bullet
Chapter 338: Chapter 338: Space Bullet and Flower Therapy Bullet
Upon learning about the special effects of the bullets, Seraphina Sullivan’s interest was immediately piqued, and she decided to test a few more of her Skills.
Next up was the Anesthetic Bullet, created from the Anesthetic Skill.
The Effect this time was much more "normal."
It hit another zombie in the shoulder, and the bullet’s kinetic energy knocked it back.
Faint traces of the Anesthetic spread from the wound, but the effect was negligible on a zombie that had long since lost its ability to feel pain.
A direct hit to the head, however, was just like an Ordinary Bullet, causing a fatal, penetrating wound that splattered brains everywhere.
’It seems the Anesthetic Bullet’s special Effect will only manifest when facing enemies with tenacious Life Force that can’t be killed in one hit. Against creatures like zombies, with their obvious Weaknesses and lack of pain, it’s primarily just physical damage.’
Seraphina analyzed.
With each test, her understanding of the Universal Sniper Rifle deepened. She was also profoundly stunned by the effects of the bullets created from her Skills.
The most surprising of all was the Space Bullet, created from her Scavenger’s Farm Skill.
Channeling this Skill felt particularly strenuous, and the consumption of her spiritual power was noticeably higher.
The "bullet" that formed in the chamber wasn’t a solid object. It was more like an extremely unstable, slightly distorted, minuscule spatial singularity.
Aim, fire!
The instant it struck a zombie’s head, there was no loud BANG, no brilliant flash.
Centered on the point of impact, a basketball-sized spherical region—along with the zombie’s head and part of its neck—simply and silently... vanished!
The cross-section was as smooth as a mirror, as if sliced by the most precise instrument imaginable.
It was as if that patch of Space itself had been scooped out of existence.
The zombie’s headless body swayed for a moment before collapsing to the ground.
Seraphina tried shooting a crumbling Wall next.
As before, a smooth, spherical hole instantly appeared in the Wall, the bricks and steel rebar within vanishing without a trace.
’Space Cutting... True damage that ignores all defenses?’ Seraphina sucked in a sharp breath.
This power was terrifying. It would probably be incredibly effective against heavily armored units or enemies with special defenses.
The cost was equally staggering, though. With that one shot, she felt a massive chunk of her spiritual power drain away.
Another discovery left Seraphina at a loss for whether to laugh or cry: the Flower Therapy Bullet, derived from her Flower Therapy Skill.
In the spirit of experimentation, she took aim at a zombie with a mangled leg and fired.
The bullet struck its chest, but instead of causing the expected destruction, it burst into a soft halo of healing light, carrying the fresh scent of flowers!
The halo quickly seeped into the zombie’s decaying body.
The scene that followed left Seraphina utterly dumbfounded.
On the spot where the zombie’s chest was hit, the putrid flesh actually stopped decaying. There were even faint, weak buds of new flesh squirming into existence!
The rotting flesh on the stump of its mangled leg also seemed... a little "healthier"?
’A Flower Therapy Bullet... with a healing Effect?’ Seraphina was completely speechless.
’Is this supposed to be an attack or a heal? Am I healing a zombie?’
Thankfully, since it was a torso shot and not a headshot, the healing halo couldn’t reverse brain death. The zombie remained a walking corpse and hadn’t been "resurrected."
Still, the effect was so ridiculous she was at a loss for words.
’Maybe it could be used for ultra-long-range first aid on a critically wounded ally in an extreme situation?’
’The Space Bullet’s power is terrifying, but its cost is immense. The Flower Therapy Bullet’s Effect is just bizarre... As expected, these Skill-based bullets each have unique properties. I can’t just judge them at face value.’
Seraphina concluded, a light sheen of sweat on her temples.
Continuously forming bullets from various Skills and firing them was a significant drain on her spiritual power.
’Very powerful, but the cost is high.’
She rubbed her temples, feeling mentally depleted.
But a confident smile soon spread across her face.
’A high cost?’ For someone with the Crimson Gemstone Talent, that wasn’t a problem at all!
The gemstone sigil between her eyebrows was continuously and steadily absorbing the chaotic Energy that permeated the zombie-infested world, an amalgamation of viral radiation and the Aura of despair.
It converted this into pure crimson Energy, endlessly replenishing her reserves.
As long as she wasn’t continuously firing the most costly Special Bullets, she could maintain high-frequency sniper support for a very long time.
THWIP! THWIP! THWIP!
The faint, rhythmic reports of a rifle echoed intermittently from the high-rise rooftop.
Each soft crack meant another wandering shadow in the distance had fallen still.
Seraphina knelt in her sniper’s nest, her eyes peering through the scope she had formed from spiritual power, calmly searching, locking on, and firing.
She alternated between bullets created from different Skills to adapt to targets at various distances and angles. At the same time, she was further familiarizing herself with the Universal Sniper Rifle’s traits and the real-world combat effectiveness of her different "ammunition" types.
She used the Clean Bullet to eliminate zombies near their stronghold, preventing them from leaving behind contaminants or attracting more of their kind.
The Anesthetic Bullet and the more basic Ordinary Bullet were her standard choices for mid-range targets.
Occasionally, for small clusters of zombies, she would try using the Blast Flame Bomb—converted from her Flame Continuous Punch Skill—to create localized fire and chaos.
Time slipped by in her focused hunt.
When she looked up again, peering at the sky through the shattered glass curtain wall, she realized the once-gray sky had been completely swallowed by a deeper darkness, as if saturated with ink.
There were no stars, no moon—only the sporadic, eerie flickering of phosphorescent lights from unknown sources deep within the city’s ruins.
That, and the dying embers of fires that had yet to burn out, outlining the menacing silhouettes of the buildings.
After several hours of fighting, Seraphina realized that she and Sean Chandler were the only two Players in the entire area.
She hadn’t seen a single other Player.
She called up the system panel and glanced at her quest list.
[Main Quest 2: Eliminate a cumulative total of ordinary zombies (3,214/30,000)]
The number had grown significantly in the last few hours.
Flora Sullivan and her Pet Legion had contributed significantly to that number, efficiently clearing several hundred zombies within a small radius.
But Seraphina’s own kill count from sniping was also substantial, especially with the high-efficiency, mid-to-long-range takedowns granted by her Hundred Shots Hundred Hits trait.
However, she had made no progress on the other two quests.
[Main Quest 3: Discover and collect information on special zombie variants (0/10)]
[Main Quest 4: Obtain gene samples of the special Zombie Virus (0/3)]
’Haven’t seen a single sign of one...’ Seraphina frowned slightly.
Ordinary zombies were numerous, but their threat level was relatively constant.
The hidden "special variants" were the real danger—and the key to completing her quests.
’Where could they be?’
’What forms will they take?’
A faint pang of hunger rumbled in her stomach, and the continuous drain on her spiritual power had left her feeling fatigued.
Seraphina glanced down. Sean Chandler’s figure flickered across a platform on a floor closer to the ground. The whoosh of his punches carried up to her; he was clearly also making the most of his time, clearing out the zombies near the building.
’It’s completely dark now. I should rest for a bit and recover my strength,’ Seraphina decided.
