Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 310: Control and Counterattack
Chapter 310: Chapter 310: Control and Counterattack
After the six-tailed woman finished speaking, the four-tailed woman spoke up.
"Second Sister, why do you make it sound so hopeless? If the three of us sisters work together, we might just be able to take down this monster! Besides, the reward for completing the world task is bound to be immense. This could be... a perfect opportunity for our bloodline to evolve again and gather more Power!"
The appearance of the three fox women, and their conversation, undoubtedly added a huge new variable to this seemingly hopeless battle!
However, the four-tailed woman’s words failed to convince the other two to make a decision.
In the center of the battlefield, the Mokla Giant Tree once again revealed its terrifying Ability.
On its thousands of branches, which had previously looked dead and withered, eerie flowers instantly bloomed at a speed visible to the naked eye.
The flowers then rapidly swelled and ripened, bearing dark brown fruits, each the size of a small person.
Like overripe produce, these fruits fell to the ground, bursting open the moment they touched the soil!
Rising from the husks were Puppet Guards, made of twisted branches, with crude humanoid silhouettes and stiff movements!
"What the hell are these things now?!" Simon Holt’s scalp tingled as he watched the dense crowd of puppets stand up.
In the distance, the nine-tailed woman in the red robe named Corva narrowed her eyes, rapidly weighing her options.
’I do want to kill this giant tree and get the bountiful rewards from the world task.’
’But my renowned Charm Control techniques, and the vast Puppet Legion I gathered earlier, were like child’s play before this giant tree’s absolute strength, easily dismantled by it.’
"We’re leaving." Corva finally made her decision.
Her voice was calm but left no room for argument. "This monster’s Power level is far beyond our estimates.
"We carefully orchestrated a plan to lure that acid-rain-wielding Titan Python here, intending to reap the benefits. Instead, the python had its Life Essence absorbed by this thing. Even if the three of us combine our strength, I’m afraid we’ll struggle to inflict any fatal damage."
She held her umbrella, thinking to herself, ’If only I knew where this monster’s core Weaknesses were... A pity.’
Hearing this, the six-tailed white fox woman visibly sighed in relief.
She no longer hesitated. With a light wave of her slender hand, dreamlike pink petals scattered from her body, instantly enveloping the three of them.
The next second, the petals dissipated, and the figures of the three fox women vanished without a trace, having completely escaped the perilous battlefield.
But in the instant before teleporting away, Corva’s gaze once again fell in Seraphina Sullivan’s direction, a complex, unreadable emotion flashing in her bewitching eyes.
’I wonder if these people... will survive in the end.’
Seraphina Sullivan, of course, had no intention of dying here!
In a short period, the Mokla Giant Tree had already used a series of Skills: [Flowering and Fruit Formation] to create Puppet Guards, [Ten Thousand Entanglements] to strangle anyone who got close with endless vines, and [Life Absorption] to devour the residual Life Force of the dead on the battlefield.
Just these few moves had wiped out most of the remaining aberrant monsters and Players, demonstrating its overwhelming dominance.
Seraphina Sullivan also noticed the disappearance of the three fox-tailed women.
With the departure of their controller, the red petals lingering in the sky rapidly lost their effect. The Players and monsters who had been lucky enough to survive and were just regaining their senses wanted to flee in terror.
But the entire battlefield was already choked by chaos and the subsequent tide of monsters, cutting off any path of retreat.
"It’s no use! Our escape route is completely blocked!" Brandon Barton’s face turned grim as he looked at the monster tide behind them, which was also swarming madly toward the giant tree.
"We can’t get out! Our only choice now is to fight for our lives and look for a chance to survive in the midst of battle!"
They now had no path of retreat. On all sides were bloodthirsty aberrant creatures and the out-of-control Mokla puppets.
Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes narrowed as she watched several roaring Puppet Guards and Aberrant Poison Lizards charge at them.
She took a deep breath, and facing the surging horde of monsters, she opened her mouth and blew gently—
[Sweet Fragrance]!
A pink mist, nearly invisible to the naked eye but carrying a strangely sweet and cloying scent, spread out in an instant like a soft veil, sweeping over the area in front of her!
Seraphina Sullivan watched as the monsters enveloped by [Sweet Fragrance] instantly became stiff and sluggish.
’It’s just a Control Skill.’
’As if I don’t have one of my own.’
"What’s this?" Larry Olsen moved closer out of curiosity, wanting to see what the pink mist was. He even subconsciously reached out to touch it.
But as soon as he got close, he accidentally inhaled a wisp of [Sweet Fragrance] and instantly froze on the spot, his eyes vacant, as if he’d been hit by an immobilization spell.
"That fragrance is the boss’s attack for the enemies! Don’t get in the way! Eat this!" Simon Holt had been holding a grudge and looking for payback. Seeing Larry Olsen walk right into it, why would he hold back?
Without a second glance, he swung his [Continuous Bone-breaking Hammer] and smashed it down with all his might!
BANG!
Controlled by the fragrance, Larry Olsen couldn’t dodge at all. He took the full force of the hammer and was sent flying like a broken sack, landing right at the feet of a group of monsters that were slowed by the scent but still advancing...
After a few sickening crunches of breaking bones and the wet thuds of mangled flesh, Larry Olsen went silent.
Everyone: "..."
Simon Holt, however, clapped his hands and sighed with a look of feigned innocence and regret. "Oh, Larry Olsen, can’t even take a hit? I was just trying to help you with the monsters, tsk tsk..."
Samson Sharp and Lily Holloway watched Simon Holt’s theatrical display, knowing full well it was blatant retaliation.
Charlotte Carter’s thoughts were unreadable.
Heath Summers and the others were confused, wondering why their own people had started fighting.
She sniffed the air and asked doubtfully, "This fragrance... actually smells pretty good?"
The others, including Brandon Barton, Victor Sharp, and even Samson Sharp and Lily Holloway, also smelled the sweet scent spreading through the air.
They didn’t know the fragrance’s effect, and it never occurred to them that Seraphina Sullivan’s [Sweet Fragrance] was an indiscriminate area-of-effect Control.
And so, the moment they inhaled the fragrance, everyone, including Simon Holt, found their movements becoming sluggish and stiff to varying degrees!
Their consciousness wavered for a moment as well!
’I can’t possibly defeat the Mokla on my own,’ Seraphina thought. ’So I’ll have to control everyone.’
She had no desire to cause any infighting at a time like this.
"Now! It’s time to counterattack! We have to work together!" she shouted, her voice carrying the power of her Sweet Fragrance to command the others.
With her Control active, Brandon Barton was the quickest to react. His eyes hardened as he unleashed [Guaranteed Cutting Blade] once more!
Countless invisible slashes crossed the Space, viciously hacking at the Mokla Giant Tree’s thick trunk and the branches preparing to entangle them!
Heath Summers also forced herself to focus, raising her hands high to summon a thundercloud again!
Frenzied silver lightning, like divine punishment, rained down upon the giant tree, bolt after bolt!
In an instant, cracks from the slashes and scorch marks from the lightning began to appear all over the Mokla’s massive body.
