Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 309: Mokela’s Counterattack! The Three Fox-Tailed Sisters
Chapter 309: Chapter 309: Mokela’s Counterattack! The Three Fox-Tailed Sisters
Seraphina Sullivan watched the swarms of monsters and Players.
’Maybe... with their help, I actually have a chance to take down that Mokla Giant Tree and complete this "world quest."’
’"A reward from the world"... The name alone tells me it’s no ordinary prize. How could I not do everything in my power to fight for it!’
With that thought, Seraphina Sullivan hesitated no longer.
She grabbed Simon Holt by the collar, activating her [Bounce] Skill once more.
After a few light and swift leaps, she carried Simon Holt across the intervening distance, landing steadily behind Heath Summers and the others.
Seeing a stranger suddenly approach, Victor Sharp reacted instinctively.
He was about to strengthen the [Energy Shield] to defend and block them.
"Wait," Sean Chandler said at the right moment, his voice calm and steady. "She’s a friend. Don’t worry."
"Oh?" Brandon Barton and Heath Summers both cast curious glances her way.
Seraphina Sullivan didn’t say much. She simply waved her hand, activating her [Clean Bubble] Skill again.
Several iridescent bubbles floated precisely toward the red petals trying to attach themselves to the outside of the Energy Shield.
The instant the bubbles made contact with the petals, the Charm Energy clinging to them was rapidly purified and dissipated, turning into ordinary motes of light before vanishing.
This clean and efficient display of "Purification" Ability brought a flash of surprise to the eyes of Victor Sharp and Brandon Barton, and they relaxed their guard slightly.
As Seraphina Sullivan set him down, Simon Holt was finally able to get a clear look at everyone behind the rock.
His gaze locked onto Samson Sharp’s shifting expression, Larry Olsen’s evasive eyes, and Charlotte Carter’s pale face. ℴ
The Fury and humiliation he had suppressed for so long instantly surged through him!
He stared daggers at Larry Olsen and Charlotte Carter, his teeth grinding audibly. His eyes were like knives, wishing he could devour the two traitors alive.
The intense hatred was almost palpable.
However, with a greater crisis at hand, Simon Holt didn’t act rashly.
He merely tightened his grip on the Bone-breaking Hammer in his hand.
"The giant tree is about to attack!"
Someone shouted, and everyone’s heart leaped into their throats.
In the distance, the Mokela’s colossal, mountain-like body began to change noticeably.
The giant, twisted face on its trunk—a face that looked like a fusion of countless agonized old men—opened its maw, which resembled a chasm to the abyss!
A terrifying light, a mixture of frenzied radiation and destructive Energy, began to gather rapidly in the depths of its massive mouth.
The air itself seemed to warp and whine under the strain of this Power!
"Wh-what is it doing?!" Heath Summers’s voice trembled as he felt the world-ending fluctuations of Energy.
Seeing this, an item from the Mokela’s ridiculously long list of Skills flashed through Seraphina Sullivan’s mind—[Deformed Energy Cannon]!
The Skill’s description came to mind: *Gathers a vast amount of Aberrant Radiation within its body and fires a destructive beam of Energy. Anyone caught in the blast will either die or be grotesquely mutated.* Seraphina Sullivan’s expression changed dramatically!
"Full defense!" she shouted, her voice laced with an unprecedented urgency.
Before the words even left her lips, she had already acted. With a rapid thought, layers upon layers of shimmering, iridescent [Clean Bubbles] surged forth, tightly enveloping her and the nearby Simon Holt.
She wasn’t sure if the bubbles could completely block the destructive Energy, but she hoped they could at least weaken the terrifying radioactive contamination within it!
Victor Sharp gritted his teeth and pushed his spiritual power to its absolute limit. The light of the pale blue Energy Shield flared, growing thicker and more solid until it resembled a giant inverted bowl, covering everyone in the small party!
The very next second after they had set up their defenses—
BOOM—!!!
An incredibly thick, terrifying beam of murky, dark-green Energy, like the Scythe of Death God from the depths of hell, erupted from the Mokla Giant Tree’s mouth.
Wherever the beam passed, Space itself seemed to tear apart. The monsters and Players controlled by The Woman with the Red Umbrella, who had been frenziedly besieging the giant tree, were instantly vaporized upon contact, not even having time to scream. Not a single trace of ash remained!
In the areas grazed by the beam’s edge but not directly hit, the creatures unfortunate enough to be caught in the energy’s aftershock immediately underwent a terrifying and rapid mutation!
Tumors boiled up from beneath their skin, writhing madly.
Their bones twisted and deformed with sickening "CRACK" sounds.
Within a few short seconds, they had become completely mindless, even more grotesquely twisted living corpses!
A single strike!
The Mokela had instantly wiped out more than half of the monsters and Players surrounding it!
Its terrifying Power made everyone who witnessed it—including Seraphina Sullivan and the red-robed woman in the distance who had seemed so composed—gasp in unison!
"H-how are we supposed to deal with this?!" Samson Sharp’s voice was laced with despair, on the verge of tears.
"I knew it! A world quest is completely beyond us right now! Let’s run! We have to run now, while we still can!"
His shout awakened the survival instincts of many in the group, and they began to consider retreating.
"It’s too late!"
Sean Chandler’s grim voice shattered their fantasy.
He pointed around them. As far as the eye could see, more mutated monsters were converging as if answering an ultimate summons. They poured in from the ruins, from underground, and from the sky, a dense black tide that completely sealed off all escape routes!
"We’re surrounded. There’s nowhere to run."
"Then... then what do we do? What’s going on with all these monsters? Is this tree monster really that attractive to them?" Heath Summers asked helplessly.
Brandon Barton tightened his grip on his blade, his gaze as sharp as a hawk’s. "We have to fight! The only way to survive is to take down this giant tree! Only when it’s dead will this disaster end, and maybe then these monsters will disperse!"
"But... there’s no way we can be its match!" Heath Summers said worriedly. The enemy before them was despairingly powerful.
However, just as gloom settled over everyone’s hearts, Seraphina Sullivan’s sharp eyes noticed the Space around the distant red-robed woman warp. Two more beautiful figures appeared!
The two newcomers were also devastatingly beautiful, but their auras were completely different from the red-robed woman’s.
One wore a simple white dress, her temperament cool and otherworldly. Behind her, six fluffy white fox tails swayed as elegantly as snow lotuses.
The other was dressed in a vibrant, daffodil-yellow outfit, appearing lively and nimble. Four yellow fox tails swished playfully behind her.
"Elder Sister," the six-tailed white fox woman said to the woman in red, her tone worried. "This tree monster is exceptionally strong, far beyond our estimates. A prolonged battle is not in our favor and could lead to unforeseen problems. Shouldn’t we retreat for now?"
But the four-tailed yellow fox woman’s eyes glittered with eagerness as she retorted.
