Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Title: The Regressor

Soon, Aeon and the successful examinees reached the designated building. The entrance doors slid open automatically, ushering the students inside.

What greeted them was an enormous hall capable of accommodating thousands of people. The floor was laid with polished white marble, giving it a sleek and striking aesthetic.

Standing before the crowd was a lineup of five individuals from different races. Leading them was a human man with neat black hair and sharp blue eyes. He wore a crisp, professional black suit and maintained a flawless posture.

Once all the students filed into the hall, the man spoke. His smooth, commanding voice instantly silenced the ambient chatter echoing through the space. ℯℯ𝑙.

"May I have your attention, new students." He said, letting the room quiet down completely.

"My name is Edward Strelinski. I am the Head Residence Supervisor. My team and I will be responsible for your safety, well-being, and accommodation throughout your time at the academy.

If you encounter any issues within the residential areas, you may come to us at any time. We will do our best to ensure that your stay here is safe, comfortable, and peaceful."

He smiled faintly before throwing out a remark that caught the students off guard.

"I am quite certain that idiot Tharos didn’t bother explaining much to you, so I will clarify a few basic points. As for the finer details, you will find personal wrist guards waiting in your assigned dorms; everything else you need to know will be accessible through them."

The examinees were taken aback. This man had just casually called Tharos—that towering, terrifying powerhouse an idiot, all while maintaining a perfectly placid smile.

"Now then, allow me to break down the class structure," Edward continued. "The class system dictates your specific academic placement based strictly on your final examination ranks."

"The hierarchy is divided into five tiers: C, B, A, S, and SS. The SS Class is reserved exclusively for the top 20 students, who will study together in the same elite class. S Class comprises ranks 21 through 60. A Class spans from rank 61 to 100. B Class covers rank 101 to 120. Lastly, C Class handles ranks 121 through 200."

Edward paused, letting the structural breakdown sink in before moving on.

"The residence system operates on an identical tiered framework. More details will be provided by your respective Residence Managers standing behind me. Now that the general introduction is out of the way... where are the top 20 rankers? Step forward and follow me. I will escort you directly to your premium living quarters so you can settle in."

Without waiting for a response, he turned on his heel and headed toward the left side of the hall.

Aeon and the other nineteen elite students stepped forward, exchanging brief glances. Until this moment, they hadn’t seen each other’s faces clearly. Only Aeon’s immediate circle was familiar with one another. The remaining top rankers were complete strangers.

Well, except for one.

From the right side of the moving line, a girl suddenly waved at Aeon with a bright smile. It was Seraphina. She happily skipped to the front of the group, deliberately walking backward just to keep her eyes locked onto Aeon while offering a cheerful wave.

Aeon’s brow furrowed slightly. He knew exactly who she was—or rather, he knew of her. One of his Nihilborns had already relayed their bizarre encounter with her during the cultist ambush.

Replaying the memory through his Nihilborn’s perspective had left Aeon deeply shocked and utterly bewildered.

’She’s the only one who knows the existence of the Nihilborn, Except the Akashic Records and my system.’ Aeon thought, examining her fluid movements. ’How is that even possible? And what did she meant by saying "not at this point in time"? She literally called me "hubby." Is she... from the future?’

Determined to find answers, Aeon prepared to activate his Infinite Eyes of Omniscience. Tiny golden geometric patterns began to coalesce within his irises. However, he quickly suppressed the ability, deactivating it before anyone could notice.

’No. There are too many watchful eyes in this hall; this isn’t the right environment to expose my visual traits. System, display her status window instead.’

[Certainly, Master]

[Name: Seraphina Veylith]

[Race: Half Angel/Half Fallen Angel]

[Title: The Regressor]

[Path: Warrior]

[Cultivation rank: D-]

[Talent rank: Divine]

[Special Talent: Space-Time Sovereign](Divine-rank)

[Physique: Heaven-Fallen Physique](Divine)

[Bloodline: Celestial Duality Bloodline](Ex)

[Affinities: Space-Time(Divine), darklight(Divine)]

Aeon didn’t even have to look down to read the rest of her status window. His eyes were glued instantly to her title.

’I knew it. She really is a regressor.’ Aeon thought, a wave of validation washing over him as his working theory was definitively proven. ’System, provide the description for her title.’

[Title: The Regressor]

[Description: An entity who has successfully traveled back to the past while retaining the complete memories of their previous life cycle. Granted a secondary opportunity to rewrite their destiny, sever past regrets, and forge an entirely altered timeline.

A second beginning. A changed fate. A future that is no longer bound to the path of history.]

Aeon carefully digested the system’s description, a smile playing across his mind. ’Hahaha! This is incredible. A genuine regressor. I used to read about this trope constantly in manhwas and web novels, but seeing it for real is wild. And she called me her husband... Was I actually married to her in the original timeline? It would explain how she knows about the Nihilborns. I certainly wouldn’t expose them to just anyone, except for someone I deeply love and trust. I’ll have to find the perfect private moment to question her.’

An intense surge of excitement coursed through him. The universe was vast, and the mysteries unfolding before him were becoming increasingly fascinating.

He shifted his gaze back to the rest of her status attributes. This time, he could barely maintain his stoic expression, his mind reeling from sheer awe.

’Holy shit... Is she the literal protagonist of this world? I thought Sophia and Elysaria possessed absurdly high baseline stats, but Seraphina is on an entirely different level. Not only is her raw talent rank at the Divine rank, but her physique and special talent are at Divine as well. I absolutely must form a bond with her. I can’t wait to get them.’

Aeon’s thoughts raced. Initially, his plan was to isolate himself in a private quarters to get the space and time affinities he will get from Elysaria.

But now, seeing someone who possessed a special talent explicitly tailored for Space-Time Sovereignty, his priorities instantly shifted.

The conceptual prospect of the authority over the fabric of space and time was intoxicating. However, it also birthed a deeper mechanical question.

’Did she used her own spatial-temporal abilities to

regression back into the past? I’ll unearth the exact process of how her regression occurred when the time is right.’

Before long, the group of twenty elites followed Edward to a separate exit. The entrance was framed by a set of massive, beautifully carved wooden double doors, which remained tightly sealed.

Edward stepped forward, pressing his palms flat against the wooden handles. He channeled a visible current of bright blue energy directly into the framework.

After a few seconds of continuous resonance, the locking mechanisms disengaged, and he pushed the doors wide open.

Click! WHOOOSH!

What greeted them on the other side wasn’t an ordinary corridor or an outdoor view of the standard campus grounds.

Instead, a towering, swirling pillar of vibrant purple energy dominated the threshold, completely obscuring the landscape beyond. A powerful, condensed gust of air blasted past the students from the gateway.

"This is a localized teleportation gate," Edward explained, gesturing toward the swirling rift. "It will transport us directly into your exclusive residential sector. Now then, let’s move out."

Without missing a beat, Edward stepped straight into the energy pillar, his body disappearing instantly. Aeon and the remaining nineteen students followed suit, plunging into the gateway one by one.

Following a brief, disorienting flash of sensory blindness, the group materialized in an entirely different zone. Although it was still nighttime, the environment was miles apart from anything they had previously witnessed within the academy’s public sectors.

It was a magnificent, sprawling district intersected by pristine roads and illuminated by elegant neon borders. Impeccably manicured flower beds and towering trees lined the pathways.

Colossal, residential estates occupied the landscape, though each structure was deliberately separated from its neighbor by hundreds of meters to ensure privacy.

High above their heads, beautiful floating islands hung suspended in mid-air, defying gravity and adding an ethereal grandeur to the nighttime sky.

As the students stood admiring the breathtaking view, Edward turned to face them, a composed smile on his lips.

"Welcome to the SS-rank residential zone. The top 20 rankers of each academic year reside exclusively within this district. You see those floating landmasses drifting above us? Those are reserved strictly for the top 3 scoring examinees. That is where you three will be living," he stated, pointing a finger directly toward the highest floating island.

His smile widened slightly as he continued his speech. "You might find yourself wondering why the top 3 are granted floating islands while the remaining seventeen elites occupy the luxury villas on the ground. The answer is simple: Nexus Academy values raw talent and tangible results above all else. It is entirely irrelevant whether you are a prince, a princess, or a commoner. As long as you maintain dominance at the apex, you will receive unmatched privilege and respect."

"However, ownership of these floating islands is far from permanent. Every three months, a formal challenge window opens. Any student who wants to can challenge the top 3 for their positions. If you win, you inherit their rank and all the premium privileges that come with it. Alternatively, you can earn academy points to purchase a personal floating island for yourself."

Hearing the high-stakes rules, several students who were dissatisfied with their initial placements cast sharp, burning glances toward Aeon and the other two top rankers. Their eyes radiated clear battle intent, their minds already plotting how to usurp those coveted sky properties.

Clap!

Edward sharply clapped his hands together, instantly snapping the students out of their aggressive reveries.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

In an instant, a synchronized group of twenty professional staff members materialized before them. The men wore immaculate, tailored butler suits, while the women were dressed in elegant, refined maid attire.

"These personal attendants will escort each of you directly to your assigned residences," Edward concluded with a polite nod. "Best of luck to you all. I sincerely hope you thoroughly enjoy your time within this sector." After saying those words, Edward vanished in a blur of motion.
