Chapter 348: Chapter 348: The Iron Bear Falls

The arena floor cracked under the weight of the man who stepped onto it.

He was massive.

Not just tall. Not just muscular. He was built like a mountain that had learned to walk. His shoulders blocked out the sun. His arms were thicker than Seraphina’s waist.

And his skin shimmered.

Metallic fur coated every inch of his body, catching the arena light and throwing it back like polished steel. Each breath he took made the air around him vibrate.

The crowd went quiet.

Grand Marshal Vane’s voice cut through the silence.

"WHITE TIGER SECT - VICE-CAPTAIN KORGATH THE IRON BEAR!"

Korgath rolled his neck. The joints cracked like boulders grinding together.

He looked at Seraphina.

"You’re fast," he said. His voice was deep. Rumbling. Like an avalanche speaking. "But speed doesn’t break iron."

Seraphina didn’t answer.

She raised her blade.

Korgath charged.

The ground shook with each step. The reinforced diamond-steel floor buckled under his weight. Cracks spread from his footprints.

He swung.

His fist came down like a meteor.

Seraphina dodged.

The fist hit the floor where she had been standing. The impact sent a shockwave that cracked the barrier behind her. Dust and debris exploded into the air.

Seraphina landed ten feet away.

She was already moving.

Wind Qi gathered around her blade. She slashed.

The wind blade struck Korgath’s chest.

It didn’t cut.

The metallic fur absorbed the impact, scattering the wind Qi like water off stone.

Korgath laughed.

"Is that all you’ve got?"

He swung again.

Seraphina dodged again.

But this time she didn’t retreat.

She flowed around his momentum, sliding past his guard, and struck at his ribs.

The blade scraped against his metallic fur.

Sparks flew.

No penetration.

Korgath grabbed at her. His fingers closed around empty air as she slipped away.

Damon watched from the dugout.

His golden eyes tracked every movement. Every step. Every breath.

She’s testing him, he thought. Looking for the gaps.

But there were no gaps.

Korgath’s Adamantine Bear Skin covered every inch of his body. It was a perfect defense.

Unless...

Damon’s eyes narrowed.

Unless she stops hitting the surface.

He didn’t say anything. He didn’t need to.

Seraphina had trained with him for weeks. She knew what he would say.

Flow like a storm. Don’t resist the rock. Go around it.

She stopped trying to cut through his defense.

She started moving with his momentum.

Korgath swung.

She stepped into the swing.

Her blade came up, not to strike, but to guide. She redirected his momentum, using his own force against him.

He stumbled.

She was already behind him.

Her blade struck the back of his knee.

Sparks flew.

No penetration.

But she was learning.

The joints, she thought. The gaps between the metal.

Korgath spun around.

His fist caught her guard.

The impact sent her skidding backward. Her boots left grooves in the floor. Her arms ached from absorbing the blow.

She looked at her blade.

It was still intact.

But her hands were shaking.

He’s too strong to face head-on.

So don’t face him.

She remembered Damon’s words.

"You’re not a fortress. You’re a storm. Storms don’t fight mountains. They wear them down."

She smiled.

Then she moved.

Not away from him.

Around him.

She flowed like water around a boulder, her steps light, her movements fluid. She struck at his joints. His elbows. His knees. His neck.

Each strike sent sparks flying.

Each strike chipped away at his metallic fur.

Korgath roared in frustration.

He swung wildly.

She slipped under his arm.

Her blade came up.

It struck his armpit.

The metallic fur there was thinner. The repeated strikes had weakened it.

A crack appeared.

Korgath felt it.

He backhanded her away.

Seraphina tumbled across the floor, rolled, and came up on her feet.

Blood dripped from her lip.

She was smiling.

"I found it," she said.

Korgath’s eyes widened.

"You found nothing."

He charged again.

This time Seraphina didn’t dodge.

She planted her feet.

She raised her blade.

And she concentrated.

All her lightning Qi. All her wind Qi. Everything she had.

It flowed into the tip of the Tempest Azure Blade.

The tip began to glow.

Not with light.

With pure, concentrated destruction.

Korgath was ten feet away.

Five feet.

Three feet.

His fist came down.

Seraphina thrust.

The tip of her blade met his chest plate.

For a moment nothing happened.

Then the tip pierced through.

The metallic fur shattered like glass.

The blade drove through his chest plate, through his skin, through his muscle, and struck his core node.

Korgath froze.

His fist stopped an inch from her face.

His eyes went wide.

He looked down at the blade embedded in his chest.

"How..."

Seraphina pulled the blade out.

Korgath collapsed.

The impact shook the arena.

Silence.

Then the crowd erupted.

"AZURE DRAGON! AZURE DRAGON! AZURE DRAGON!"

Grand Marshal Vane’s voice boomed across the colosseum.

"AZURE DRAGON SECT LEADS 4-0!"

Seraphina stood over Korgath’s fallen body.

Her chest heaved.

Her ribs ached.

She could feel the bruises forming under her robes. The impact from his fist had cracked two of her ribs.

But she was standing.

She turned to face the White Tiger dugout.

"Next."

The White Tiger dugout was silent.

Tora stood at the entrance, her amber eyes burning with fury.

She stepped forward.

But the tournament officials held her back.

"Captain cannot fight until Fighter 5," the official said.

Tora’s claws extended.

"I know the rules."

She sat back down.

Seraphina waited.

The crowd chanted her name.

But Damon was already moving.

He stepped out of the dugout.

"Seraphina."

She turned.

He was standing at the edge of the arena, his hand raised.

"Come back."

She hesitated.

"I can keep going."

"I know you can."

He met her eyes.

"But you’ve done enough."

Seraphina looked at the White Tiger dugout. At Tora. At the remaining fighters.

She looked at her blade.

Then she nodded.

She walked to the edge of the arena.

Damon caught her as she stepped off the platform.

Her legs gave out.

He held her up.

"Easy," he said.

She leaned against him.

"Did I do well?"

"You did perfect."

He carried her to the bench where Alena was already waiting with a recovery pill.

Alena pressed the pill to Seraphina’s lips.

"Eat it."

Seraphina swallowed.

The warmth spread through her chest, numbing the pain in her ribs.

She looked up at Damon.

"Four," she said. "I got four."

Damon smiled.

He turned to face the arena.

The crowd was still chanting.

But the White Tiger dugout was stirring.

Tora was standing.

And she was angry.

Damon’s hand moved to the Chaos Devourer’s hilt.

’Your turn, he thought. Let’s see what you’ve got.’
