Immortality Starts With Selling Pills
Chapter 64: Meeting His Parents.
Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Meeting His Parents.
Derrick explained the system like it was some mysterious teacher he had who was a grandmaster in alchemy or maybe even beyond that level.
"He likes to remain hidden from the prying eyes of the world. He is teaching me alchemy, so I will be selling my own pills."
In Derrick’s words. His teacher was a greedy merchant who only would sell him pills for money.
But sometimes he would give him rewards for free, and he had even taught him Alchemy.
Keira could feel that Derrick was not lying to her, and yet something was off with his words.
Seeing her sitting in silence, he asked, "What? Are you jealous I have another teacher? I met him long before I met you, and I haven’t seen him in a while."
"Besides, he cannot teach me how to fight like you do. So, I am really grateful for that as well."
Keira laughed and asked, "Me? Jealous? Where did you get that?"
Even though she said that, Derrick saw her tense shoulders relax.
She seems happy. Even though her face had the same carefree smirk as always, he could tell that with his ability to read people.
Screech!
The vehicle came to a halt, and Derrick finally realized they were already at his house.
He did not ask Keira; she knew about his address without him telling her.
Instead, he asked, "Do you want to come inside?"
"Hmm?" Keira was surprised.
"I am sure my family would love to meet you. Rebecca has been bugging me about you too."
Keira may seem to be lost in thought, but she noticed something: "You call your mother by name?"
"It—it’s complicated." Derrick did not say anything else.
Seeing how he did not want to explain further, she respected her wishes.
Click.
She opened the door of the car and climbed out. She turned around to see Derrick staring at her, still sitting on his seat.
"What? Are you coming or do I have to go in and see them myself?"
Derrick chuckled. He climbed down and opened the front gate to let Keira inside.
Buzz.
Instead of just directly letting her in himself, Derrick pressed the door bell.
"Coming!" Soon, he heard Rebecca’s voice coming from the other side.
It took her less than a minute to open the door.
The moment she opened the door, she saw Derrick standing on the other side. "Derrick? I thought you were not coming back home tonight? Did things not go well with your teach—"
With a teasing smile on her face, Rebecca started speaking but stopped midway when she saw a woman sanding behind Derrick.
Keira’s smirk was replaced by a thin smile. She raised a hand and pressed it firmly on Derrick’s shoulder. "Would you mind telling me what you have told others about me?"
Rebecca’s face turned blank as she seemed to have realized what she had done.
She looked between Derrick and Keira and asked, "Is she..."
Derrick nodded with a painful smile on his face. He looked like he had swallowed a fly.
"Ahem, why are you two standing there? Come inside." Rebecca led the two of them inside, where Cassandra was lying on the sofa, reading a book.
"Cassie... come and greet Derrick’s teacher." Rebecca sternly glared at her daughter’s casual posture.
Cassandra did not flinch under her gaze and slowly stood up. She looked at Derrick and then at the beautiful black-haired woman with purple highlights.
"Nice to meet you. I am Cassandra." She waved her hand with her usual bank expression. "I love your hair, by the way."
"Thanks. I like your personality. Straight and Direct." At first Keira thought Cassandra was just another teenager. Rebellious and disrespectful, but once she was happy to find otherwise.
Rebecca walked into the kitchen and brought two glasses of water. Offering one to Derrick and Keira.
Just as Derrick took a sip of water, Cassandra replied back to her.
"I can see why Derrick slapped your ass."
Pftt...
Ahem!
"God, Derrick. What are you doing?" Rebecca slapped his back when he sprayed all the water in his mouth.
Even though she was scolding him, there was a faint grin on her face.
Keira merely smiled at Derrick and did not say anything in return.
Yep. She is angry. Seems about right. Derrick wanted to be anywhere but in that room at the moment.
For the next half hour, they sat there and talked about Derrick and Keira.
Rebecca was eager to learn more about the woman who was potentially Derrick’s future love interest.
She did not care if she was his teacher or not. Apparently, morals in their society were quite lax because of the low population.
Humans bred like animals and got butchered like ones too.
So their population was neither too high nor too low, but the government still promoted more childbirth.
They had many schemes in place.
"I will set the table. You should wash up." Rebecca suddenly got up to leave for the kitchen.
Keira tried to stop her. "No. No. No. I have to go back home, Rebecca. Please don’t bother with the dinner."
"Derrick, tell your teacher she is not going anywhere tonight." Rebecca did not even turn around and skipped to the kitchen.
"You heard her." Derrick leaned his head towards Keira with a smirk. "You are not going anywhere. By the way, do you live alone?"
Kiera’s lips twitched, but she sighed and leaned back into the sofa.
"I am never coming to pick up your call ever again." She clicked her tongue in annoyance and crossed her arms, pushing her bountiful breasts up, making them jiggle.
Cassie stared at the two of them before her eyes followed the movements. She looked down at herself and then back at Keira. Her expression turned sour, but she did not say a thing.
"I have a family house too, but I prefer to live alone, away from all the drama."
Derrick did not know why, but he felt sadness from Keira even though she showed none on her face.
"Then you are sleeping here tonight. You can take my bed if you want to sleep alone since I plan to stay away the whole night."
Before she could answer him, Keira walked back in and said, "How could that be? She can sleep with me. My bed is too big just for me."
