Chapter 63: Chapter 63: The New House.

"Are you sure we can live here?" Beth looked up at the two-story house, disbelief etched on her face. "How did you even manage to find one so fast?"

Derrick took out his phone and showed her the rent agreement under his name. Signed and approved.

After Keira had reminded him, Derrick used the power of advanced internet and fast proceedings of online agreements with digital verifications to rent a property only 10 mins away from his house and did it all together.

"Come on in. Let’s check out if the place is as good as they showed online." Keira picked up the sleeping mother of Beth Silverheart in her heart and took her inside.

The house was somewhat similar to Derrick’s, but it had a bigger kitchen. There were two rooms on the ground floor, and the top floor had an office.

Derrick chose this place for that room specifically.

This was going to be Beth’s workplace.

I would rather not tell her that I only need her certification to sell the pills I bought from the system.

Maybe I can actually make use of her alchemy skills.

Her talent can only be seen once in thousands of years.

After Derrick learned about her talents in the field, he decided to alter his plans a little and train her with the help of the system.

"I love the place." Beth could not believe how clean every room was. Even her old place was clean because she scrubbed every inch of it herself.

"Good thing. I would hate to take her back." Keira quipped sarcastically from the side. "I will put her down in the room on the corner."

Derrick moved to the side, allowing her to pass by.

"I will help you unpack everything." Derrick picked up a box marked "Kitchen," which Keira had just pulled out of her storage ring before walking away.

He swiftly placed everything in their designated spots.

"Thank you, Derrick. You have done so much for us." Beth walked up to Derrick and helped him place the utensils in their place.

"It is fine." Derrick shrugged like he had not done anything great. "Besides, I am getting something out of this."

"Still..." The warm smile on Beth’s face did not dim. She placed her hand on Derrick’s free hand and gave it a light squeeze. "I want you to know I am grateful for everything."

Derrick paused, feeling the warmth of her hands, and looked over to see the shy yet dreamy look in her eyes.

He nodded.

Ahem!

Before he could say anything a loud cough interrupted the atmosphere.

Beth’s body shook, and she jerked her hand back before turning around to see Keira standing behind her.

Derrick merely gave his teacher an unimpressed look before getting back to work.

"Would you like me to help you unpack the clothes as well?" Derrick asked once he was done.

Beth hurriedly shook her head. "You have already done enough. Besides, I think I will do that tomorrow."

She tied her hair up into a bun and continued, "For now I will cook something for dinner. Mom should be waking up soon. What would you like to have?"

Keira did not answer immediately and looked at Derrick. Her message was clear: she left the decision to her student.

Derrick noticed this and replied, "I would love to try your cooking, but I am sorry, I cannot today. It’s already quite late, and we have to get home as well."

Beth beamed up at the first part, but once she heard the latter words, her face visibly fell.

"I will come see you tomorrow and talk about when we will start the work. For now, send me a copy of your alchemist license. I will use it to register our shop and start promoting it in the meantime."

Beth nodded before taking out her phone.

Ding!

"Hearing the notification on Derrick’s phone," Keira said. "We will be leaving now, girl. I can feel your mother is about to wake up. You have a lot of explaining to do."

Saying that she turned around and headed for the door.

Derrick also bid her farewell and followed after Keira.

Beth watched the door close and Derrick disappear behind it, and her face fell.

Wait... Didn’t he say he lives nearby? Maybe I can see him again then. Suddenly her face brightened once more.

Just as she was daydreaming, a loud voice snapped her out of her thoughts.

BETH! BETH!

Beth’s body jerked, hearing the loud, confused voice. She took a deep breath to calm herself and replied, "I am coming."

...

"So, since when do the responsibilities of a teacher include working as a chauffeur?" Sitting in her car, Keira stared at Derrick in the passenger seat, her eyes colder than a block of ice.

"Come on. I could have handled them, but that would have taken a lot of injuries and blood loss, and I would have gotten killed once I went back home." Derrick let out a strained laugh, unable to look her in the eye as he said. "Besides, I am really grateful you came to help."

Keira turned her head back to the road, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips.

"So, what’s the deal with the girl?" She asked.

"Besides, I never knew my student was such a womanizer. First you made a move on me, and now you are seducing another older girl."

"I am innocent; don’t slander me." Derrick snapped back. "I already told you why I found her."

"Yeah, you want to sell pills using her name. Poor girl, does not even realize she is being used." Keira did not leave a chance to tease him.

"And whose pills are you going to sell instead of hers? That mysterious figure who gave you the pills?"

"Does he/she want to stay hidden that much?"

Derrick could feel her curiosity, but she was limiting herself to not push harder to get an answer.

"I guess you have some right to know." Still overwhelmed by how much she supported him the whole day, Derrick finally gave her an answer. "You can think of that person like a second teacher of mine...."
