Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Keira’s Message

Derrick pulled out a bunch of pills from his inventory and placed them in an open dish on the counter.

These were the pills, he would like to call as failed products.

Each one of the pills were lower than 50% in purity, the minimum benchmark of the pills he was now selling on his site.

Derrick picked up one of the lumpy, uneven pills and set it down on the purity scale.

The digital screen flickered and settled on a dismal number.

32%

He grabbed another one from the pile and tested it.

14%

None of the fifty pills sitting on his desk had a purity level over fifty percent.

Some of the earliest ones he had crafted were as low as ten percent, packed full of leftover waste and raw impurities.

Many Alchemists and people in the pill business might try to sell these pills.

But to him, they were worse than trash.

But even trash has use sometimes.

And now he could put use to his failed pills.

I wonder how the cauldron works. Derrick picked out the ten pills with the lowest purity from the dish.

All of them were sitting somewhere between ten and twenty percent.

He threw them straight into the dark cauldron.

"Now, I just need to activate the cauldron and channel my energy through it," Derrick muttered softly to himself.

He placed his palms flat against the cold metal surface for just a second.

Derrick sent a small spark of his Enhanced Energy into the heavy vessel.

As soon as the power transferred, he pulled his hands right back and stepped away.

The cauldron came to life all on its own.

Its ancient runes began to glow with a soft, steady light.

Derrick turned on his All-Seeing Eyes to watch what was happening inside.

His vision pierced right through the thick metal casing, making the cauldron look completely transparent.

Inside, the cauldron was doing all the heavy lifting by itself.

The ten lumpy pills melted down under the automated pressure, dissolving into a pool of dark, murky liquid.

Without Derrick having to guide anything, the cauldron automatically separated the clean essence from the black specks of waste.

Thick, dark smoke bubbled up from the mixture and hissed out through the top vents.

The murky liquid cleared up rapidly, turning into a bright, glowing green stream.

The cauldron pulled the clean essence together, condensing it into three solid, smooth spheres right at the bottom.

HISS!

A small puff of sweet-smelling steam rose into the air as the cauldron finished its work and went quiet.

Derrick leaned over to check inside the vessel.

Sitting at the bottom were three perfectly formed, glowing green pills.

Derrick picked one up and set it down on the digital purity scale to test it.

The screen flickered for a second before settling on a final reading.

95%

Derrick let out a breath and smiled, feeling a rush of excitement.

He didn’t even have to control the process.

The cauldron had taken ten completely failed pills, stripped away the waste automatically, and turned them into top-quality pills all on its own.

Derrick picked up the second pill from the cauldron and set it down on the purity scale.

The digital display flickered for a brief second before locking onto a number.

100%

Derrick stared at the screen, unable to believe his eyes.

He quickly grabbed the third pill and placed it onto the glass sensor.

Once again, the screen flared with the exact same result.

100%

Derrick stood frozen in place, utterly shocked by what he was seeing.

Before he could even process the results, a crisp chime echoed inside his mind.

A bright system notification panel flashed to life right in front of his eyes.

[Quest Completed: Create 1 Flawless Pill]

[Objective: Produce a pill with 100% purity — Complete]

[Rewards Distributed: 10 Enhanced Pills]

When the light faded, ten perfectly smooth, dark-red pills were resting within his inventory.

"I could do it like this too?" Derrick wondered out loud, completely stunned.

Up until now, he had been trying to create a flawless pill but the closest he came to was 98%.

But he had not expected to complete the mission like this.

Derrick looked down at the remaining forty failed pills resting in the open dish.

His eyes gleamed with excitement.

If the cauldron could turn ten garbage pills into two flawless ones, there was no reason to stop now.

He scooped up the rest of the lumpy, uneven pills.

He dropped them all straight into the dark cauldron.

He repeated the earlier process once more.

HISS!

A heavy cloud of sweet-scented steam burst from the release valves.

The cauldron went quiet, its bright runes slowly fading back to normal.

Derrick walked over and peered down into the deep chamber.

A neat pile of gleaming green pills sat at the bottom.

He took them out and tested every single one on the digital purity scale.

When he finished testing the entire batch, a huge smile spread across his face.

Added to his first test, he was left with six 100% pure, flawless pills.

The remaining ones came out as ten high-grade pills, all with a purity level above 95%.

"With this, I don’t have to worry about any of my resources going to waste." Derrick kept going and did the same with the low level pills he had gotten from Beth.

Even with her talents, Beth also ended up with bad pills.

...

After clearing out his workshop and locking up the gear, Derrick headed over to the gym.

When he walked inside, Maki was standing behind the front reception desk.

She looked up at Derrick with an unusually serious look on her face.

"Keira left a message for you," Maki said quietly.

Noticing her solemn tone, Derrick instantly felt that something serious was going on.

Maki handed him a folded slip of paper.

Derrick took the paper without asking why Keira had written a physical note instead of sending a text message.

"Meet me tomorrow noon at the Sunshine Hospital room 706 and bring fruits."

Derrick folded the paper and put it in his pocket. The first thought that came to his mind...

Keira is injured?
