Immortal World : MILF Dual Cultivation
Chapter 96: The Final Clash
The blood-red sun hung low on the western horizon, casting a fiery glow over the peaks of the Crimson Nimbus Sect. The green-stone arena, having witnessed the sweat, blood, and shattered dreams of thousands of disciples today, now sat bathed in the solemn light of dusk.
Out of the ten thousand outer sect disciples who had stepped into the Illusory Forest at dawn, only two remained standing in the center ring.
The other semi-final matches had blurred past in the hour since — Lu Changge cutting through his own opponent with the same cold efficiency Lin Tian had shown against Tie Shan.
The Grand Finale had arrived.
The arena held a deathly, suffocating silence. Even the spectators’ breathing had gone shallow. The disciples already eliminated watched the center ring with equal parts reverence and fear, none of them quite believing they were watching the final match of a tournament that had claimed thousands of their peers.
On one side stood Lu Changge, the undisputed Number One Genius of the Outer Sect.
He wore pristine white robes fluttering in the evening breeze, a three-foot profound-steel sword humming with dense spiritual energy in his grip. His cultivation sat at the very edge of the Qi Gathering Realm — a Half-Step Foundation Establishment expert, his Qi so thick it formed a visible white mist around his body, drawing murmurs from disciples who had never seen a peer this close to breaking through.
On the opposite side stood Lin Tian.
Still in his plain obsidian robes, broadsword resting against his shoulder. He hadn’t touched a single recovery pill, showed no trace of fatigue. Beneath the Abyssal Shadow Veil, his lake of Foundation Establishment liquid Qi sat calm and hidden — to the world, still nothing more than a body-refiner at the 10th Layer of Qi Gathering.
"Lin Tian," Lu Changge said, his voice carrying the ring of unsheathed steel. "I watched your battle with Tie Shan. To shatter the Abyssal Rock Physique with a single punch — your flesh and blood are terrifying."
He raised his sword slowly, tip aimed at Lin Tian’s heart. Spiritual energy swirled around the blade, forming tight, sharp vortexes of wind.
"But a cultivator’s true power lies in the Dao," Lu Changge continued, eyes narrowing with pride. "A mortal body, however strong, cannot outrun a flying sword. I won’t make the mistake the others made. I won’t let you close the distance. The Azure Dragon Piercing Art will finish this from afar."
Lin Tian’s expression stayed unreadable. He looked at Lu Changge not as a threat, but as one more stepping stone on the path ahead of him.
***
High above, on the white jade platform, the air had turned heavy.
Instructor Qing sat at the edge of her chair, thighs pressed together, her uniform damp with sweat. Every glance at Lin Tian sent his Yang scent crashing into her senses, the Fire-Poison in her meridians shrinking back in fear, leaving an aching emptiness behind that only he seemed able to fill.
He’s facing Lu Changge — a long-range specialist, she thought, breath ragged. If Lin Tian can’t close the gap, the sword Qi will wear him down piece by piece. Show me how you break this, Lin Tian.
Beside her, Elder Bai watched with a different kind of intensity, her usually chaotic mind finding an odd stillness whenever she studied the rhythm in his footsteps.
"The match begins — now!" the Deacon roared, hand chopping through the air.
BOOM!
The instant the command fell, Lu Changge exploded backward, pulling fifty meters of distance between them in a single motion.
Spiritual energy flared around him, gathering into a shape Lin Tian recognized instantly from the technique manuals he’d skimmed — the opening stance of the Azure Dragon Piercing Art.
Not a word out of him this time, Lin Tian noted. Maybe the last two beatings finally taught someone in this sect not to warn their target what’s coming.
Lu Changge swung his sword horizontally. A twenty-foot crescent of azure sword Qi tore through the air, shrieking like a roaring dragon, ripping through the green-stone tiles as it raced toward Lin Tian, leaving a scorched furrow in its wake.
A clean, long-range attack — built to keep a brute-force fighter locked out entirely.
Lin Tian didn’t panic. He didn’t even raise his broadsword.
Insight Eye.
Crimson runes flared behind his eyes. The world slowed. The roaring wave of sword Qi peeled open in his vision, its spiritual density thick at the center and dangerously thin along the edges — a flaw common to anything cast below Foundation Establishment.
A flashy technique. Hollow at the seams.
Instead of meeting it head-on, Lin Tian called on the second gift he’d claimed from Lady Yun’s conquest — the Abyssal Void-Shadow Empress Art.
A supreme technique built for assassins. Not raw force, but a body merged so completely with shadow and wind that it seemed to stop existing.
He took a single, feather-light step.
To the crowd’s horror, his figure blurred. He didn’t leap over the wave or smash through it — he simply glided left, slipping through the thinnest edge of the crescent by a hair’s width.
The sword Qi missed him entirely, detonating against the barrier behind him.
Before Lu Changge could process the miss, Lin Tian was already gone from where he’d been standing.
He moved like something built for silence. His robes folded into the dying light. His steps disturbed nothing — not a grain of dust on the arena floor, not a single blade of the sparse grass along its edge.
"Where is he?!" Lu Changge’s divine sense swept the arena, frantic. "How does a body-refiner move like an assassin?"
Panic broke his composure. He swung wide, scattering dozens of smaller sword Qi blades in every direction, hoping the storm alone would force Lin Tian back into view.
Lin Tian wove through the chaos like a leaf caught in wind. The Insight Eye mapped every blade’s path before it landed. He leaned back from one, let it pass a hair from his nose. He turned his shoulder into another, letting it slide harmlessly by.
He closed the distance fast, and yet somehow felt like nothing was there at all.
On the platform, Elder Bai rose to her feet, violet robes stirring.
This isn’t just movement, she thought, her mind racing. He’s reading the ripples in the sword Qi and stepping into the gaps where it’s thinnest — treating the technique like an array, and dismantling it with his feet.
Instructor Qing’s grip on her armrest had cracked the spirit-wood. Her breath came heavy, color rising on her neck.
His strength was never the whole of it, she thought, restless. That agility, that read on his opponent — I need him in my quarters. I’ll examine this warrior myself.
Down in the arena, Lu Changge was drenched in cold sweat, spiritual reserves nearly spent, and he hadn’t so much as grazed Lin Tian’s robes once.
Then the shadow vanished from his sight entirely.
He spun, desperate to cover his blind spot.
Too late.
A crushing weight settled on his right shoulder, heavy enough to buckle his knees and drop him hard onto the stone.
He turned his head, eyes wide with dawning terror.
Lin Tian stood behind him, blocking the last of the setting sun, his broadsword resting light against Lu Changge’s shoulder, its blunt edge grazing the side of his throat.
Lin Tian hadn’t spent a single drop of his liquid Qi. Combat sense, the Insight Eye, and shadow footwork alone had been enough to dismantle the Outer Sect’s greatest genius.
"Do you concede, junior?" Lin Tian’s voice was low, even, carrying weight that needed no volume.
Lu Changge stared at the blade on his shoulder. One twitch of the wrist, and his head would already be on the ground. Whatever pride he’d walked in with lay crushed beneath something he had no name for.
He let go of his sword. It clattered against the stone.
His head dropped.
"I... I concede," he whispered. "Your skill is beyond me."
Three full seconds of stunned silence. Then the arena broke, ten thousand voices roaring at once.
"He won! Lin Tian won!"
"He didn’t use a single technique! Pure footwork and instinct broke him!"
"He’s a monster — the true King of the Outer Sect!"
Somewhere in the crowd, a disciple who had mocked him back at the Task Hall just days earlier stood frozen, unable to reconcile the two images in his head.
The Deacon steadied his own shock and raised a hand skyward, voice carrying across the peaks.
"The final match has concluded! The winner and Champion of the 142nd Inner Sect Promotion Tournament — Lin Tian!"
Lin Tian lifted the broadsword off Lu Changge’s shoulder and slung it back across his own. No cheer, no boast — just a slow sweep of his eyes across the roaring crowd, letting the weight of it settle without a word.
Then he tilted his head toward the floating jade platform above.
He could feel the hungry, conflicted stares of Instructor Qing, Elder Bai, and Elder Liu locked onto him — the seeds of obsession already taking root in three of the Inner Sect’s most powerful women.
The Outer Sect is conquered, he thought, a dark smirk settling in. The Inner Sect’s gates are open now. Madam Shen waits in the new estate. Time to claim what’s mine, consolidate this foundation, and begin the real work.
