Chapter 343 - 342: Gu Cangming, The Eternal Calamity Demon Lord

  • Next Chapter

A Demon Lord could dominate countless weaker demons, yet the difference between Sha Wujue and Gu Cangming was not simply a difference in cultivation. It was a difference in the depth of their foundations, in the authority they possessed over the laws of the Demon Realm, and perhaps even in the eras that had shaped their understanding of the Great Dao.

The pressure continued to spread.

Far beyond the ancestral territory of the Spatial Calamity Clan, an ancient mountain range trembled beneath the force of the descending aura. The mountains had remained untouched for countless years, their peaks buried beneath layers of demonic mist, while enormous formations concealed the region from the spiritual senses of ordinary Demon Lords.

At the center of the range stood a colossal black mountain whose summit pierced the uppermost layers of the Hollow Beyond.

The mountain was not a natural formation.

It was the remains of an ancient demonic fortress, a place that had once served as the seat of a power so terrifying that even the strongest forces of the previous era had avoided approaching it without permission. Its walls had long since collapsed, and the surrounding formations had fallen into disrepair, yet the pressure emanating from its depths had kept every living creature away.

At the highest point of the mountain, within a chamber sealed by countless layers of ancient runes, a man sat upon a stone platform.

His appearance was difficult to describe.

He wore a simple black robe that seemed to absorb the surrounding light, and his long silver hair flowed across his shoulders like a river of moonlight. His face possessed the calm, almost indifferent expression of someone who had witnessed the rise and fall of countless civilizations, while faint dark markings covered his arms and disappeared beneath the sleeves of his robe.

He was Gu Cangming.

The Eternal Calamity Demon Lord.

For countless years, he had remained in seclusion, allowing the world outside to change while he examined the deepest mysteries of the Great Dao. He had witnessed two eras of the Demon Realm, survived catastrophes that had erased entire lineages, and fought opponents whose names had become forbidden within the ancient records.

Yet throughout all those years, he had rarely interfered with the affairs of the younger Demon Lords.

Their conflicts were insignificant compared with the questions he had spent his existence attempting to answer.

Now, however, the pressure spreading through the Hollow Beyond had disturbed the ancient formations surrounding his seclusion chamber.

The runes covering the walls began to flicker.

A thin crack appeared across the stone platform beneath him, followed by another that spread toward the chamber’s entrance. The spatial barriers that had remained stable for countless years trembled beneath the force of his awakening, and the ancient laws surrounding the mountain began to align themselves around his body.

Gu Cangming slowly opened his eyes.

They were neither crimson nor black, but a deep, ancient gold that seemed to contain the reflections of countless stars. The moment his gaze emerged from beneath his eyelids, the surrounding darkness retreated, and the entire mountain range became illuminated by a faint golden radiance.

He remained seated for several breaths.

Then he raised his head.

The pressure he had been suppressing throughout his long seclusion began to spread outward, not because he intended to threaten the Demon Realm, but because his body was finally responding to the changes that had disturbed his rest. The ancient formations surrounding the mountain collapsed one after another, and the spatial laws that had remained dormant for countless years began to circulate with renewed intensity.

Gu Cangming slowly exhaled.

The breath passed through the chamber like a silent storm, erasing the remaining dust from the walls and scattering the fragments of the broken formations into nothingness. His silver hair moved gently around his shoulders, while the dark markings on his arms brightened beneath his sleeves.

He looked down at his hands.

For a moment, his expression remained indifferent.

Then he slowly stretched his arms outward.

The movement was unhurried, almost casual, like a man who had remained seated for too long and had finally decided to rise. Yet the moment his arms extended, the ancient laws surrounding the mountain responded as though they had received an irresistible command, and the pressure spreading through the Hollow Beyond increased dramatically.

The sky trembled.

Across the Demon Realm, countless spatial layers began to vibrate, and the ancient formations that maintained the stability of distant territories flickered beneath the pressure. Rivers of demonic blood surged from their banks, mountains cracked from their foundations, and enormous beasts emerged from their lairs only to collapse beneath the weight of the overwhelming presence.

Even the Demon Lords felt the change.

Some immediately rose from their thrones, while others abandoned their cultivation and stared toward the distant horizon with expressions of disbelief.

They had experienced the auras of countless powerful beings, including Demon Lords whose cultivation approached the threshold of the Demon Emperor realm, but the presence now spreading across the Hollow Beyond carried a depth that made their own power feel insignificant.

Gu Cangming had awakened.

The Eternal Calamity Demon Lord, whose might was spoken of in two eras, had finally opened his eyes.

And the consequences of that awakening would not be limited to the Demon Realm.

As Gu Cangming slowly stretched his arms, the spatial pressure surrounding the ancient mountain continued to expand. It spread beyond the Hollow Beyond, moving through the fractured layers that separated the Demon Realm from the Nine Provinces, and the immense force eventually reached the boundary where the Nine Heavens Ward had been struggling to contain the growing threat from beyond.

The ward trembled.

At first, the change was almost imperceptible, appearing as a faint vibration along the ancient formations that sustained the barrier. The immense structure had already suffered considerable damage from the repeated incursions of powerful demons, and its surface was covered with countless fractures that glowed with a sickly purple light.

Then the fractures began to widen.
