The Hollow Beyond had never possessed a true sky.

Its heavens were a vast expanse of bruised purple and sickly black, filled with swirling clouds of corrosive miasma and violent storms that carried the stench of ancient slaughter. Rivers of dark blood flowed between jagged mountains, while enormous skeletal structures protruded from the earth like the remains of creatures too powerful to be forgotten, and the distant horizon remained obscured by layers of demonic mist.

This was the Demon Realm.

A place where the weak were devoured, the strong ruled through fear, and even the most powerful beings understood that their authority could be challenged by someone stronger. Demonic clans rose and fell through endless conflict, their histories written in blood and conquest, while the surviving lineages clung to whatever power they could accumulate.

At the center of a vast plateau stood a towering palace constructed from polished black bone.

The structure rose above the surrounding mountains, its walls engraved with ancient demonic runes that pulsed with a faint crimson light. Countless formations surrounded the palace, forming layers of spatial barriers that prevented ordinary demons from approaching without permission, and the enormous gates were guarded by statues carved from the bones of ancient beasts.

This was the ancestral stronghold of the clan that had produced the Four Spatial Calamities.

Deep within the palace, inside a chamber whose walls were covered with silver spatial patterns, a middle-aged man sat upon a throne carved from the skull of an ancient Void Beast. He possessed a broad frame, dark silver hair, and a pair of crimson eyes that seemed to contain the violent storms of the Demon Realm itself, while the black demonic armor covering his body was engraved with countless runes that shifted whenever his aura fluctuated.

His name was Sha Wujue, the Clan Head of the Spatial Calamity Clan.

He was a Demon Lord whose cultivation had reached the Peak Void Refinement realm, and his mastery of spatial laws had allowed his clan to establish itself among the most dangerous forces within the Hollow Beyond. Although he had not yet crossed the final boundary into the Demon Emperor stage, his authority was so immense that even other Demon Lords treated him with caution, particularly when the conflict involved the territories controlled by his clan.

At that moment, Sha Wujue was examining a series of ancient spatial records when the silver markings on the wall suddenly trembled.

His hand stopped moving.

A moment later, four silver lights appeared above the stone table before him, each one representing a spatial mark that had been connected to one of his children. The first light flickered weakly, while the second and third had already begun to fade, and the fourth remained suspended in the air with an unstable glow that suggested the connection had been severely damaged.

Sha Wujue’s expression changed.

He immediately extended his divine sense toward the marks, attempting to determine what had happened, but the moment his consciousness touched the first light, it shattered into fragments of silver energy. The second followed, then the third, and within the space of a few breaths, three of the four lights had disappeared completely.

The chamber fell silent.

Sha Wujue stared at the empty space above the table.

For a moment, he seemed unable to comprehend what he had just witnessed, because the disappearance of a spatial mark did not necessarily mean that its owner had died. The Sacred Grounds were filled with unstable spatial layers, and it was possible for a connection to be disrupted if its owner entered a region where the surrounding laws interfered with transmission.

But the marks had not merely been disrupted.

They had been destroyed.

The distinction was unmistakable to a Demon Lord who had spent countless years studying spatial laws, and the realization caused a cold pressure to spread through the chamber.

"Xie Luo," Sha Wujue whispered.

His gaze shifted toward the second and third marks.

"Hei Zang. Mo Yan."

The names escaped his lips one after another, each one carrying an increasingly dangerous weight. These were not distant subordinates whose deaths could be dismissed as the cost of maintaining the clan’s authority, but his own children, the heirs he had raised and trained to become the Four Spatial Calamities.

For countless years, they had traveled through the Hollow Beyond, using their mastery of spatial laws to hunt powerful and seize resources from territories that weaker demons would never dare approach. They had survived battles against formidable enemies, escaped from ancient ruins that had swallowed entire armies, and returned from missions that should have ended in their deaths.

Yet three of them had died within the Sacred Grounds.

Sha Wujue slowly rose from his throne.

The movement was simple, but the entire palace trembled as his aura began to expand. The silver runes covering the walls brightened, and the spatial barriers surrounding the chamber activated automatically, attempting to contain the pressure radiating from their master.

The formations failed almost immediately.

Cracks spread across the silver markings, and the stone floor beneath Sha Wujue’s feet began to collapse. A low growl emerged from his throat, growing louder with every passing moment until it became a roar that shook the entire ancestral stronghold.

"WHO DID THIS?"

His voice erupted through the palace.

The sound traveled across the plateau, shattering the windows of distant towers and causing countless demons to collapse beneath the pressure. The enormous gates trembled, the skeletal statues surrounding the stronghold cracked, and the rivers of dark blood flowing through the nearby ravines surged violently as the earth responded to the wrath of a Demon Lord.

Sha Wujue’s eyes burned with crimson light.

He had no idea who had killed his children.

The shattered spatial marks contained only fragments of the final disturbances, and the traces left behind were too incomplete to identify the cultivator responsible. He could not determine whether his children had encountered an ancient guardian, a powerful human cultivator, or an unknown entity that had entered the Sacred Grounds from some distant region of the Nine Provinces.

But the uncertainty only intensified his fury.

If a powerful enemy had killed his children, then Sha Wujue would find that enemy and tear apart everything connected to them. If the Sacred Grounds themselves had caused their deaths, he would destroy the ancient realm and scatter its fragments across the Hollow Beyond, ensuring that no one would ever again dare to send his bloodline into such a place without his permission.

His fists clenched.

The black armor covering his body began to glow with crimson runes, and the spatial laws surrounding him twisted into a violent storm. The pressure spread outward from the palace, sweeping across the plateau and reaching the distant mountains, where countless demonic beasts fled from their nests as the ground began to split apart.

"Gather the clan!" Sha Wujue roared.

The command spread through the palace formations, reaching every surviving elder and commander within the ancestral territory. Demonic figures rushed from their residences, their expressions filled with fear and confusion, while several powerful Demon Kings immediately descended toward the central plateau.

None of them dared to approach the chamber without permission.

They could feel their clan head’s anger spreading through the surrounding space, and even those whose cultivation had reached the Peak Demon King stage found it difficult to remain standing beneath the pressure. The entire ancestral territory had become a storm of spatial turbulence, with the silver barriers surrounding the palace flickering as though they might collapse at any moment.

Sha Wujue stood before the shattered stone table.

His remaining spatial mark flickered weakly above the surface, representing Sha Luo, the eldest of his children and the only one whose connection had not yet disappeared completely. He reached toward the mark, attempting to establish contact, but the moment his divine sense touched it, a faint transmission entered his consciousness.

The message was incomplete.

Nevertheless, it carried enough information to confirm what he had feared.

Three of his children were dead.

And the one responsible was a cultivator named Lin Yuan.

Sha Wujue’s expression twisted.

"Lin Yuan."
