Chapter 557: Chapter 554: The Manifestation of Disease

The Young Healer looked down at Senluo Island, his light flickering, and said nothing for a long time...

"Have you ever considered whether they want to become like this?" Elder Ladi asked faintly.

The Young Healer still didn’t speak.

"A healer shouldn’t just cure a patient’s illnesses and injuries; they must also respect them. It is not a healer’s place to look down from on high and choose the ’correct’ healing method for them."

"But they are just creatures with little intelligence. They don’t know what they want, nor do they know what is ’correct.’ They don’t even think about what they have become. I am just making them better, helping them evolve to a higher state," the Young Healer explained.

"Then what if, in the future, a more intelligent civilization captured you and transformed you into what they believed was the ’correct’ form? Would you be willing?"

"..."

The Young Healer fell silent once more.

Elder Ladi continued, "You have never considered things from the patient’s perspective. All you care about is ’curing’ them. To you, patients are just tools to prove yourself, to prove that you are no different from other healers."

"You’ve never listened to your patients’ hearts. You treat them as nothing more than fictional data in the Healing Space. Because of this, you find no joy in the act of healing itself and feel none of the excitement that comes with a patient’s recovery. You cannot empathize with them. All you care about is whether your healing earns you the approval of other healers. That is why you are forever empty, forever lost..."

The Elder’s words were like a powerful gale, causing the ball of light that was the Young Healer’s head to flicker violently. He was clearly beginning to doubt himself.

"Elder Ladi, am I sick?"

The Young Healer asked Elder Ladi the same question again. His tone was filled with hope; he wanted to hear that familiar answer.

However, Elder Ladi did not give him the answer he wanted.

"You are sick," Elder Ladi said gently.

Upon hearing this, the Young Healer’s body slumped. He had actually anticipated this outcome all along but had just been deceiving himself.

After a moment of silence, the Young Healer twisted his body and broke free from Elder Ladi’s embrace. He glanced at Elder Ladi, then turned toward Mo Ling and Xi and slowly walked over.

The flame-like light trembled, appearing extremely unstable, as if the Young Healer was undergoing a difficult internal struggle.

He walked up to Mo Ling and said softly:

"Kill me."

His words were so shocking that Mo Ling didn’t know how to react at first.

"Why?" Mo Ling asked, confused.

"It’s the only way to heal both me and Senluo Island."

Mo Ling was very surprised. He pointed at Xi beside him and said, "Can’t you let Xi heal you?"

"No. This is my Healing Space. No matter how powerful he is, he cannot affect the master of this space. The only one who can cure everything is you," the Young Healer explained earnestly.

Mo Ling still didn’t quite understand. "How am I supposed to kill you?"

"Just like you did to the Rainbow Virus in the lake. I could feel it. You severed its connection to the Healing Space, giving it a death that cannot be healed."

Hearing the Young Healer’s words, Mo Ling immediately recalled using his teleportation on the "strange fish" infected with the Rainbow Virus in the lake.

’So now, this Young Healer wants me to use my teleportation on him?’ Mo Ling was very surprised.

"You will die," Mo Ling said seriously. No creature could escape the effects of his teleportation. Even though this was inside a Healing Space, Mo Ling knew his teleportation would affect reality and could even cause unforeseen consequences.

"Death is what I want. My death will stop the spread of the healing power, and it will also completely heal me," the Young Healer said resolutely.

Mo Ling looked to Xi, seeking his opinion.

"Senior, I’ll follow your lead," Xi said with trust.

The decision now rested in Mo Ling’s hands. As he looked at the culprit who had made all of Senluo Island unrecognizable, his resolve hardened.

The Young Healer’s body trembled. He could already sense his impending death. From this strange healer before him, he, the master of this space, could feel a killing intent that terrified him.

However, that feeling of being torn asunder never came...

"Xi, you can feel the emptiness in him, can’t you?"

"Yes, Senior."

"Then why can’t I feel it?"

"Maybe I’m just more sensitive. I can often feel the emotions of other healers, and that feeling is even more pronounced inside a Healing Space."

"Then can you let me feel it too?" Mo Ling asked seriously.

"I’ll try..."

Xi gently took Mo Ling’s hand, while his other hand plunged directly into the small body before them.

Following Xi’s guidance, Mo Ling fell into a sea of blazing light. It was like the inside of a sun, surrounded by scorching rays, but when they struck Mo Ling, he only felt a pleasant warmth.

However, hidden within this light were some incongruous black dots.

They were like pieces of black charcoal, floating amidst the light.

These dim black dots were constantly expanding, as if they wanted to devour everything around them.

’Sunspots.’ For some reason, Mo Ling was suddenly reminded of this phenomenon. The black dots before him indeed gave him a strange sense of déjà vu.

"Senior, that’s his emptiness. Those black dots."

Hearing Xi’s reminder, Mo Ling was secretly glad he had made the right choice.

’So this emptiness is something you can actually ’see’...’

The Healing Space would manifest all illnesses in a physical form. Since the Young Healer said he was sick, there had to be a concrete object representing that sickness, something that could be "seen."

Not only that, but Mo Ling also guessed that the emptiness Xi kept talking about might be the root of the disease. That was why he had asked Xi to help him feel its presence. And now, he could indeed "see" this very real emptiness.

And now that he could see it, everything became much simpler...

Mo Ling aimed his teleportation frame directly at the black dots floating in the light.

"Xi, I’m going to start the treatment. Hold on tight and don’t let go."

"Okay, Senior! I can hold on for a long time," Xi’s voice held a trace of excitement. He seemed overjoyed to be fighting side-by-side with his senior.

"Good."

Mo Ling responded softly and activated his teleportation on the black dot in front of them.

The dim black dot vanished without a sound, as if it had never existed.

"Senior, a lot of the emptiness is gone!" Xi reminded him excitedly.

So, the emptiness could be destroyed. As long as he eliminated all of it, he could cure the Young Healer’s sickness.

At this thought, Mo Ling was filled with a new fighting spirit.

"Let’s continue!"

"Yes, Senior!"
