I'm Trapped in the Block
Chapter 447 - 444: Mirror Fissure
Chapter 447: Chapter 444: Mirror Fissure
’Transcendence... doesn’t it exist?’
After arriving in the Sea of Creation, Mo Ling had acted as all sorts of gods and observed the world through the eyes of countless creatures.
He now shared the same feeling as the Little Elf:
Transcendence didn’t exist.
The living have their suffering, and gods have their worries. No one could achieve true transcendence.
Just as Mo Ling was lost in thought, the Little Elf suddenly shifted their shared perspective to a certain spot.
"Your companion seems to be trapped."
At the Little Elf’s reminder, Mo Ling quickly focused his attention on the puddle.
He saw Li Luo riding the Lego Bird, circling aimlessly within a constantly folding, mirrored space.
"It looks like they’ve accidentally stumbled into a mirror fissure."
"A mirror fissure?" Mo Ling asked, confused.
"Yes. I told you before that the Sea of Creation is like a factory. There are fissures between the different ’pieces of equipment,’ and they must have slipped in through one of them," the Little Elf explained, carefully observing their predicament.
"Can you get them out?"
"Of course."
As it spoke, the Little Elf erupted in a golden light that sank into the small puddle before them.
"We’ll have to go there ourselves. This is a little... troublesome."
The moment the Little Elf finished speaking, Mo Ling felt his vision suddenly lurch forward, plunging into the calm little puddle.
Then, countless mirrored surfaces flew at him. Mo Ling felt himself pass through layer after layer of mirrors, then slip into the intersecting corners between them, reflecting endlessly.
Finally, his vision stabilized. Mo Ling found himself stationary within a strange, mirrored space. Oddly shaped mirrors formed a bizarre, hollow world that enclosed him at its center.
"This place is so strange... It’s both a fissure and a Divine Sacrifice Site," the Little Elf said, perplexed.
"You don’t know where this is either?" Mo Ling asked, surprised.
"I only just became a god. Of course I don’t know everything," the Little Elf explained, surveying the surrounding mirrors.
Their perspective circled the area, and the Little Elf, seeming to have discovered something, said in surprise, "Have you noticed? This place is a cube. A block. Just like your head."
"A cube?" Mo Ling didn’t quite process that for a moment.
After the Little Elf’s reminder, he finally realized it: there were exactly six mirrored faces. All six were squares of the exact same size, forming a perfect cube.
"It really is a cube. A very uniform one."
Mo Ling looked all around, but he couldn’t find any sign of Li Luo or the Lego Bird.
"Where are they?"
The Little Elf didn’t answer his question. Instead, it kept rotating their perspective, making Mo Ling a little dizzy.
"How strange... a simulated scene has actually overlapped with the mirror fissure..."
"What does that mean?" Mo Ling didn’t understand.
"It means... we’re currently in a real place and, at the same time, in a world simulated by the Sea of Creation. The two locations have overlapped."
Hearing the Little Elf’s explanation, Mo Ling was stunned. "That can happen? Aren’t simulated worlds supposed to be fake?"
"Not necessarily," the Little Elf immediately retorted. "The collective wishes of some races can create real worlds."
"When I was granting wishes with my companions before, one race’s wish was ’to create a habitable world.’ So, their simulated world became a real world, and their entire race migrated into it."
Listening to the Little Elf’s explanation, Mo Ling thought of the Balloons.
The Balloons were creatures that had crossed over from a simulated world into reality.
If creatures could become real, then of course, a world could too.
’But what does "overlap" mean?’
’Both real and virtual at the same time?’
"Does a place like that really exist?"
Mo Ling looked at the mirror before him. Layers upon layers of mirrors stretched out, reflecting the mirrors opposite them, creating an endless, receding vista.
But Mo Ling couldn’t see himself. He and the Little Elf had merely extended their consciousness here; they had no physical form for the mirrors to reflect.
However.
"What is that?"
Mo Ling had discovered a blurry human figure on the mirror’s surface. Completely transparent, it stood motionlessly on the other side, looking at him.
Seeing the strange figure, the hairs on Mo Ling’s arms stood on end. He quickly alerted the Little Elf, "Look! Up ahead! What is that thing?"
"Ahead?"
The Little Elf slowly moved their perspective closer to the mirror, and the figure approached in tandem.
But to Mo Ling’s surprise, despite how conspicuous the transparent figure was, the Little Elf said in confusion, "There’s nothing there."
’The Little Elf can’t see it?’ Mo Ling was startled.
Now that they were in front of the mirror, the figure’s outline was perfectly clear:
It looked like a human sculpture made of glass, its entire body emitting a smooth sheen, standing perfectly still before the mirror.
"You really can’t see it? It’s a sculpture, just like those glass ones we saw in the trench, except this one is human-shaped..."
Mo Ling described the glass sculpture’s appearance in detail, but after listening, the Little Elf still said, puzzled, "There is nothing in the mirror in front of me."
’It seems I’m the only one who can see it.’ Mo Ling’s heart sank.
Suddenly, he recalled what the Little Elf had said earlier.
’This is an overlapping space... Could it be that the Little Elf and I aren’t in the same place right now?’
Mo Ling quickly shared his theory with the Little Elf.
After hearing him out, the Little Elf thought for a moment before confirming, "That’s very likely. We’ve been separated, one on the side of reality and the other in the simulated world."
"In other words, even though our perspective has arrived at the same location, we’re seeing two different worlds."
At that very moment, beside the small puddle, the ethereal forms of Mo Ling and the Little Elf were overlapping.
And yet, here in this bizarre mirror fissure, their perspectives had been split between unknown planes of existence.
It took Mo Ling a long moment to recover from his shock.
He looked at the glass sculpture before him again, a bold hypothesis forming in his mind.
"Move back a bit. About two meters," Mo Ling said to the Little Elf.
The Little Elf did as Mo Ling asked, moving their shared perspective back two meters.
On the other side of the mirror, the glass sculpture also retreated two meters.
"Move one meter to the left..."
The glass sculpture on the other side mirrored the movement, staying perfectly centered in Mo Ling’s view.
"Can you flip the perspective? A full one-eighty."
"I’ll try."
The Little Elf did as instructed, flipping their entire perspective upside down.
And the glass sculpture flipped over with it.
"Look behind us."
The Little Elf quickly spun their view around.
On the mirror behind them, there was still a glass sculpture.
Mo Ling could now be certain of his hypothesis:
’This glass sculpture... it isn’t someone else. It’s me!’
