Chapter 444: Chapter 441: Prime Minister Turtle

Every time the Waterman killed one of the Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals, it tried to dissolve into a current of water and hide again.

However, each time it tried to hide, more Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals would rush out and drag it back into the fight. Its body, which had begun to dissolve into a current of water, would solidify once more, uncontrollably lashing out at the swaggering creatures.

As for the Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals, despite the ground being littered with the corpses of their comrades, they showed no fear. They simply raised their weapons and charged menacingly toward the Waterman.

Under this onslaught of sheer numbers, the Waterman was being worn down.

Just then, a Shrimp Soldier appeared on the second floor, brandishing a machine gun and strafing the Waterman.

The Waterman was nearly blasted apart by the torrent of bullets.

The sight left Mo Ling utterly stunned.

"Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals can actually use machine guns?"

"They’re just keeping up with the times. They can use other things, too."

Sure enough, just as the young man had said, a moment later—after the machine-gun-toting Shrimp Soldier was defeated—a Crab General carrying a cannon emerged from the side. It fired a shot directly at the Waterman’s back.

The Waterman was instantly blasted to the ground, its form twisting violently.

The Crab General, having been too close, was also sent flying by the aftershock, landing unconscious some distance away.

"The fisherman should be here soon."

The young man surveyed the street below. Before long, a strange, massive turtle crawled out and nudged both the twisted Waterman and the unconscious Crab General onto its shell.

"So that’s Prime Minister Turtle?"

Mo Ling stared at the turtle. Other than its intimidating size, it just looked like a perfectly ordinary, large turtle. It certainly didn’t have the dignified air of a "Prime Minister."

The young man, on the other hand, looked down at the turtle with an excited expression.

"Prime Minister Turtle. It’s been a while."

"Isn’t that just a big turtle?"

"That’s right." The young man nodded. "It’s just a turtle."

His answer was somewhat unexpected.

"Prime Minister Turtle is a type of relic phenomenon, not a specific object or creature..."

Before he could finish, the situation below changed again.

On the turtle’s shell, the Waterman’s form slowly stabilized. While the cannon blast had temporarily immobilized it, it hadn’t caused any real harm.

The moment it recovered, it summoned a current of water, shaped it into a long spear, and plunged it into Prime Minister Turtle’s back shell.

"AHHH!"

Following a bizarre shriek that could not have come from a turtle, the air seemed to freeze. A terrifying gaze materialized in the sky, looking down upon Dawn City. It then began scanning the city, finally locking onto the Waterman, who was still holding the spear.

The great turtle struggled in agony. Blood poured from the hole in its shell, running down the watery spear to the ground below. Its limbs twitched uncontrollably as its body collapsed.

Watching the brutal scene unfold, the young man sighed and continued his explanation.

"Prime Minister Turtle attaches itself to a random turtle anywhere on Earth. Whenever that turtle is killed, the phenomenon simply moves to another one. There is always one, and only one. The host turtle’s life is completely unaffected. It gains no special abilities; it’s just a normal turtle."

"But if that turtle is attacked, it summons the Dragon King."

The young man raised his head and looked toward the sky.

"The real Dragon King."

As if in response to his words, a low rumble of thunder echoed through the sky.

RUMBLE!

With the rumbling thunder, the dark clouds that had been about to disperse began to gather once more.

Seeing this, the Waterman tried to transform into vapor and escape into the clouds, but a powerful pressure suddenly descended upon it, pinning it firmly in place.

The pressure washed over to where the young man stood, but he seemed unaffected. He simply opened an umbrella unhurriedly and held it over his head.

"It’s going to rain."

CRACK!

A deafening clap of thunder pierced the clouds, completely shattering the suppressive effect of the Fake Dragon King Statue. Warm raindrops began to fall once more.

This rain felt strangely thick and warm. The young man stretched out his hand to catch a few drops, rubbing them between his fingers. The rain was as viscous as blood.

He looked up. From under the edge of his umbrella, he could see the writhing Black Shadow among the clouds.

A low roar echoed from within the clouds, and every so often, a glimpse of blurry scales would flash between the dark thunderheads.

The Dragon King had not revealed its body, yet its majesty alone was enough to keep the Waterman from moving.

After struggling a few more times, the Waterman could no longer support its own weight and collapsed, kneeling heavily on the turtle’s shell.

Turtle blood trickled out, mingling with the rain. The Waterman’s body drooped, kneeling powerlessly.

At this moment, the god was stripped of all dignity.

Another Shrimp Soldier appeared in the distance. Wielding a great hammer, it rushed up to the turtle shell. Upon seeing that the Waterman was powerless to resist, the Shrimp Soldier bobbed its head in glee and let out a cheer toward the clouds.

"It’s over," the young man said calmly, still holding his umbrella.

"Help me..."

Suddenly, a faint voice reached the Olive.

"Did you hear that?"

"I heard it. That was its voice," the Little Elf said, certain.

"A wish... a wish..." the voice murmured, as if trying to say something more.

To hear the voice more clearly, the Olive slowly flew off the rooftop and drifted downward.

Finally, once they were hovering above the turtle shell, Mo Ling and the Little Elf could clearly make out what the voice was saying.

"Help me. I haven’t fulfilled a wish yet."

"What wish do you need to fulfill?" Mo Ling asked, confused. "To flood the world?"

"My wish... I don’t have a wish." The voice suddenly grew despondent, and the god’s head drooped even lower. "I cannot fulfill my own wishes."

But then it struggled, raising its head once more.

"The Slothful One, the Joyful One, and one other..."

It suddenly turned its head. Its gaze penetrated the Olive and fixed firmly on the Little Elf.

"You will never find a wish of your own." Its tone held both pity and a trace of mockery.

"Why?" the Little Elf asked, confused.

"Because we can grant wishes. If we had wishes of our own, we could simply fulfill them..."

"If our wish were to become a god, we would become a god. If our wish were to destroy the world, the world would be destroyed... That cannot be allowed. Therefore, we cannot have wishes. We are—the Wishless."

The god’s words struck the Little Elf’s heart like a heavy hammer.

"So, I’ll never find a wish of my own?" it asked in a daze.

"That’s right. You’ll never find one. It’s impossible for us to have them."

The god knelt on the turtle’s shell, speaking with absolute despair.

"We can fulfill the wishes of all living things, create powerful relics, make any beautiful dream come true, even create other gods! But we ourselves are forever lost, living in constant terror, not knowing where we’re going, aimlessly searching for a future that can never exist..."

"There’s no way out... no way out... It’s a curse."

"And... the price."
