I'm Trapped in the Block
Chapter 442 - 439: Submerged
Chapter 442: Chapter 439: Submerged
"What in the world are you trying to do?" the Little Elf demanded.
"I want to return to the very beginning and make a new choice," the Waterman replied.
"Let the sea drown everything. It will begin here, flowing into the abyss, drowning the forests, the deserts, and the oceans themselves. The sea will claim all, and then..."
"Start anew."
"This time, there will be no Slothful, nor will there be any Joyful Ones. I will be a proper god, using wishes to eliminate all suffering."
"When the tea gets murky, you just brew a new cup. Eventually, you’ll brew the most fragrant cup of all!"
The Waterman extended its hand, catching a raindrop. It then flicked its hand forward, and in mid-air, the raindrop instantly transformed into a raging river, surging downward.
The Little Elf was now too stunned to speak.
It suddenly thought of something and looked up at the ever-heavier rain.
"Is this... seawater?"
’This isn’t rain, this is the sea! It wants to drown the entire world!’
Mo Ling finally understood. This escaped god had its plan laid out long ago. From the very beginning, it intended to drown everything and start over!
’The Great Flood...’
Watching the raindrops grow larger and larger, Mo Ling finally realized the gravity of the situation.
"We have to stop it."
"Target it. I’m going to initiate a teleport."
"Right."
Mo Ling and the Little Elf began to work together seamlessly.
Soon, a square frame appeared where the Waterman had been, cutting off the continuous downpour. The Waterman’s body vanished instantly.
The rain didn’t stop. In fact, it grew even heavier.
"That wasn’t its true body," the Little Elf reminded him.
Dawn City was shrouded in heavy rain. Liquid was everywhere. Any single raindrop here could be a part of the god’s body.
Mo Ling had guessed as much. Dealing with a god couldn’t be this simple.
"Can you find its location?"
"I need some time. The traces here are too chaotic."
Raindrops pattered down relentlessly. All the liquid was in motion, and the dark clouds continued to generate new rain. The god had deliberately hidden its trail, and the water vapor permeating the city muddled its presence.
"I know what to do."
Mo Ling understood that he had to find a way to slow the downpour to buy the Little Elf time.
"Go higher. Target the dark clouds above."
Following Mo Ling’s command, Olive slowly ascended. Its shape changed, becoming more distinct, and its field of view widened accordingly.
’That’s high enough...’
Mo Ling expanded the teleportation frame again, aiming it at the thick, dark clouds in the sky.
Immediately after, his teleportation tore a massive, square-shaped hole in the dark clouds, and sunlight poured down through the opening.
In the area Mo Ling had cut out, the sky was now clear.
"It’s working! The traces are much clearer now," the Little Elf said excitedly.
"Then let’s keep going."
As he spoke, Mo Ling aimed at another section of clouds.
BOOM!
With a sonic boom caused by the massive pressure change, huge chunks of dark clouds were instantly stripped away, and a clear sky gradually began to take over Dawn City.
This created a bizarre phenomenon:
The parts of Dawn City still under the dark clouds were being lashed by a torrential downpour, while just across the street, it was sunny and bright. Sunlight shone on the rain-drenched buildings, causing a faint mist to rise.
But the dark clouds continued to spread, locked in a stalemate with the clear sky.
Mo Ling’s teleportation kept breaking up the accumulating cloud masses, but they would reconverge in the distance. The dense, dark clouds would then reclaim the clear sky and unleash the heavy rain once more.
Even though Mo Ling had stretched the teleportation frame to the limits of his vision and was teleporting at maximum speed, he was still just holding the dark clouds at bay.
The water level in Dawn City was also rising higher and higher.
’This isn’t working. As long as the rain keeps falling, the water will just keep accumulating.’
Dawn City’s drainage system seemed to be at full capacity. Many low-lying areas were already submerged, and the river that ran through the city had begun to overflow its banks, flooding nearby buildings.
This unnaturally heavy rain had far exceeded the original design limits of the drainage system.
"It’s no use! The traces are getting more chaotic. Its presence is everywhere in the city," the Little Elf said, sounding anxious.
"Wait! I understand now! No wonder I couldn’t find it. It’s been here the whole time... All this rain is it! The rainwater throughout the entire city is its body, which is why its traces are everywhere! By now, it has already flowed into the sewers and crawled over every building as water vapor."
"It never intended to hide! By completely diffusing itself, it makes itself impossible for us to deal with!"
The Little Elf was filled with regret. "If only I’d realized sooner..."
While struggling to fight back the dark clouds, Mo Ling offered some reassurance. "Don’t worry. It won’t succeed."
"Why?"
Just as the Little Elf asked, a gleaming artillery shell suddenly rose in the distance.
The shell ascended slowly, and upon hitting the cloud layer, it detonated, violently blasting a hole through the clouds.
Immediately after, more and more shells began to rise. They were launched from all over Dawn City, striking the cloud layer above and annihilating the rainwater within them.
"It underestimated humanity. This is the city that holds back the Abyss, after all..."
The people of Dawn City had noticed the square-shaped hole in the clouds early on. They must have realized something was wrong, and now, they had begun to take action.
Under the artillery barrage, the dark clouds in the sky were instantly and completely dispersed.
However, the water vapor in the sky was still continuously gathering. Before long, the dark clouds began to condense into masses again.
This was met with another volley of artillery shells that completely dispersed the clouds.
But the dark clouds were like a persistent plague, clinging to the skies above Dawn City. They even began to spread between the high-rises, creeping downward, entrenching themselves while accelerating their convergence.
Now, the artillery was useless. The people couldn’t risk destroying their own buildings to disperse the clouds.
The sky-blotting clouds pounced on Dawn City like a giant beast. The rain began to fall once more, and the already flooded streets saw the waters rise again, spreading to submerge even more streets and buildings.
The artillery fire ceased, and the raindrops once again fell without restraint.
"Is there any other way?" the Little Elf asked, watching in despair as the dark clouds spread wantonly between the buildings.
"There has to be," Mo Ling said firmly.
And sure enough, at this critical moment, the door to the rooftop was pushed open.
A young man impeccably dressed in a suit and holding an umbrella walked out.
He stepped into the pooled water, walked over to the spot beneath Olive, and glanced up at the ever-thickening clouds between the buildings.
"Thank you for your help."
The young man nodded toward Olive, expressing his sincere gratitude.
"Dawn City has activated its emergency protocols. You don’t need to intervene any further."
The young man stared at the dark clouds, a hint of surprise in his eyes.
"It’s been a long time since anyone dared to cause trouble in Dawn City."
"This one, I’m afraid, has picked the wrong fight."
