Chapter 394: Chapter 391: Stiff God

Mo Ling sensed that something was suddenly wrong with the atmosphere.

An unimaginable pressure seemed to be descending upon the area.

Grayish-black stone dust began to fill the air. A domain that could petrify all things was beginning to overlap with this world.

Mo Ling hurriedly looked over at Li Luo and saw that a stone shell was already forming on her skin. Yet, she remained perfectly still, as if oblivious to it all.

The arguing in the sky also vanished abruptly. The Lego Bird’s wings froze mid-flight, covered in root-like stone patterns.

Its head remained frozen with a surprised expression, stuck at the very moment it had cried out in alarm.

Not only that, but all the wandering glass creatures had also stopped moving. At some point, their crystal-clear bodies had become covered in grayish-black stone dust, and the dust continued to spread, eating away at their transparent forms from within.

Across Mo Ling’s entire field of view, the sky suddenly darkened. The petrification was slowly filling the domain. Soon, perhaps, everything here would turn into immovable stone.

’Has a god truly descended?’

However, Mo Ling saw no sign of any god. Aside from everything turning to stone, nothing new had appeared.

’Is the god corporeal or incorporeal?’

Mo Ling had no idea whether the so-called "gods" of the Sea of Creation were powerful creatures or simply bizarre phenomena.

He was completely ignorant about everything here.

’What should I do?’

The petrification continued, and Mo Ling grew more and more frantic. Although the Block was unaffected, Li Luo’s condition was severe; the stone shell had almost completely covered her body.

In his desperation, Mo Ling recalled what the head had said earlier.

"The Divine Altar and the divine object... they’re the petrified stones themselves."

’If I can’t find the god, I’ll destroy those stones.’ Mo Ling quickly made up his mind.

The petrified stones were already battered and broken from the previous battle. Mo Ling aimed his teleportation frame directly at them and activated the teleportation.

The petrified stones were too large, so Mo Ling had to cut them into smaller pieces and stack them inside the Block.

But there were simply too many stones for Mo Ling to store, so he had to eject the teleported fragments, tossing them out onto the mirrored surface.

One by one, the petrified stones floating in the sky vanished, and the pile of rubble on the mirrored surface grew ever larger.

After Mo Ling had shattered the last of the petrified stones, he looked around expectantly.

However, the most worrying thing happened:

The petrification hadn’t stopped. It was still ongoing.

What was more terrifying was that Mo Ling felt as though countless eyes had appeared within the petrifying domain, staring intently at him.

It was an intense feeling of being watched, as if the surrounding stone dust had come to life and was looking toward the Block.

The gazes swirled around the Block, as if trying to probe it, but they were stopped by its metal walls. Unable to penetrate, they could only converge around the Block, their numbers growing.

Mo Ling found his current sensation hard to believe:

’Can gazes be... stacked?’

The atmosphere around the Block grew increasingly oppressive. A vast amount of stone dust appeared in an instant. Although the petrifying gaze couldn’t affect the Block, it could affect the air right beside it.

Before Mo Ling could react, the Block was encased in countless layers of stone shell, unable to move.

’It’s over.’

Mo Ling had never imagined that the petrification was conscious. His act of shattering the petrified stones must have drawn its gaze.

’Could this be the god?’

A flicker of confusion passed through Mo Ling’s mind, but he quickly shook it off.

Right now, the most important thing was to escape.

Aiming the teleportation frame at the area around the Block, Mo Ling intended to break through the ever-thickening stone shell and escape.

But just as he was about to activate the teleport, he heard a tapping sound from behind him.

Something was tapping on the stone shell, trying to let him out.

A moment later, a sliver of light shone in...

A strange-looking creature poked its head in and asked, "Are you all right? How are you feeling?"

It was a strange language, like the scraping of keratin, and should have been impossible to understand. Yet, Mo Ling found he could comprehend it.

Seeing no reaction from Mo Ling, the creature extended a segmented limb and pulled him out.

Only then did Mo Ling realize that the Block was no longer there to protect him; the strange creature was touching his body directly.

’Have I turned into a block-head again?’

He quickly touched his head but didn’t feel the familiar Block. Instead, he felt a round carapace.

’What’s going on?’ He looked at the strange creature and saw it resembled a round pill bug, its pairs of segmented legs constantly rubbing together in a rather peculiar way.

"Why are you just spacing out? How do you feel?"

Mo Ling didn’t know what to say, so he just looked behind him. He saw the stone shell he had just escaped from lying quietly on the seabed, shattered into several pieces.

’Wait, am I on the seabed?’

Mo Ling was taken aback and quickly scanned his surroundings. Everything had changed. This was a murky seabed, with countless particles of dust floating about, just like the stone dust from before.

’This is a completely different place.’

Because of the similar floating gray dust, Mo Ling hadn’t realized it at first.

Mo Ling’s odd reaction aroused the creature’s suspicion. It extended a segmented limb and waved it in front of him.

"Did your petrification go wrong?"

"Petrification?"

"Yeah, weren’t you just petrifying?" the strange creature said, pointing at the shattered stone shell on the ground.

Mo Ling still hadn’t figured out the situation, so he could only remain silent.

At the same time, he began to examine his own body. He discovered that he had also turned into a pill bug, with layers of carapace covering his back and wriggling, segmented limbs on his underside.

’What’s going on now?’

’How could getting trapped in a stone shell change my appearance?’

Moreover, Mo Ling could still feel the existence of the Block Space, but his original body, which had been inside it, had vanished.

Utterly baffled by the situation, Mo Ling stood frozen in place.

Seeing that Mo Ling still wasn’t speaking, the pill bug in front of him assumed he was too devastated by the failure.

It gently patted Mo Ling’s carapace with a limb and said consolingly, "Petrification isn’t that easy to succeed at. The dust density here is too low, it’s not a good place for it. Don’t be discouraged, I’ll take you somewhere better."

And so, this "Kind-hearted Worm" pulled Mo Ling up and started crawling with him across the seabed.

As they crawled, the "Kind-hearted Worm" chattered incessantly to Mo Ling:

"Why are you petrifying all by yourself out here? Why not go to the gathering place?"

"Did some of the other bugs ostracize you?"

"That’s just how those bugs are. If they think you’re stealing their dust, they get really angry and won’t let you have an easy time. They’ll even gang up and drive you out."

"I’ve been driven out before too, but I found a new dust-rich area. No other bugs have ever been there. There’s tons of dust. I’ve already petrified many times."

"I’m only taking you because I feel sorry for you. You can’t tell anyone else, okay...?"
