I'm Trapped in the Block
Chapter 389 - 386: Seeker of the Divine
Chapter 389: Chapter 386: Seeker of the Divine
"There’s nothing here."
Li Luo crouched down, lowering her head to look at the reflection in the mirror.
Tiny glass fish swam circles around her body, jellyfish drifted slowly over her head, and bubbles of glass crystal floated up to the mirror’s surface before popping without a trace.
In the mirror, there was only a curious face. Behind her, there was nothing.
Li Luo turned her head to look. The Block was still floating in the air, never having moved, but in the vast mirror of the Sea of Creation, there was no sign of it.
She shifted her position, looking from a different angle, but the spot in the reflection where the Block should have been was still empty.
"You’re not in the mirror..." Li Luo said to the Block, a little surprised.
Mo Ling was also completely baffled.
He hadn’t noticed this phenomenon before. It was only after Li Luo had been away from the Heavenly Shuttle for some time that he realized something was wrong.
There was no reflection of the Block in the mirror.
Sunlight passed through the spot where the Block’s reflection should have been and shone on the smooth mirror surface. This strange phenomenon unfolded right before their eyes.
In the sky, flocks of seabirds flew past, and the same image appeared in the reflection. Everything on the Sea of Creation was projected into the mirror—only the Block was different.
"How could this be?"
Like the glass creatures that lived only within the mirror’s reflection, the Block appeared only in reality.
Mo Ling stared blankly for a long time, growing more and more confused.
Just as the two were puzzling over this, the flock of seabirds in the sky suddenly grew agitated.
One seabird broke away from the flock and flew downward toward them.
A shrill cry from the bird instantly caught Mo Ling’s attention, and he quickly looked up at the sky.
Under the sun, the seabird’s Black Shadow grew larger and larger.
’It’s definitely coming this way.’ Mo Ling instantly grew vigilant.
The Sea of Creation was not a safe place. The strange sights from their previous voyage still replayed in Mo Ling’s mind. ’This sea is more than it seems,’ he thought.
Sure enough, as the seabird drew closer, Mo Ling realized at a glance that something was wrong.
It had no feathers, nor any avian anatomy. Instead, it was made of block after block.
It was a bird constructed from blocks.
As the Lego Bird descended, it suddenly exploded into pieces in midair, then rapidly reassembled into the tall, thin Lego Man they had seen before. It then landed solidly on the surface of the mirror.
It shook its body, stood up, and fixed its gaze on the Block.
Then, it looked at the mirror’s surface.
"It’s not in the reflection at all... It’s transcendence, no doubt! True transcendence..."
Before it could finish speaking, its body suddenly disintegrated and reassembled again, turning into the chubby figure who had apologized earlier.
"Whew, it got out again..." the chubby one said, holding a hand to his forehead in lingering fear.
Seeing the wary Li Luo before him, the chubby Lego Man quickly took a few steps back.
"Excuse me, we mean no harm."
Li Luo didn’t let her guard down, placing her hand on the knot of her Purple wrist-strap.
"What do you want?"
Faced with Li Luo’s question, the chubby Lego Man waved its hands repeatedly. "Nothing! We just wanted to ask... this relic, are you willing to sell it?"
It cautiously pointed to the Block.
"Not for sale." Li Luo refused the chubby Lego Man’s request without a hint of hesitation.
Her decisive attitude left the chubby Lego Man momentarily speechless.
"We can meet any of your demands." The chubby Lego Man unhurriedly pulled out all sorts of relics from the blocks that made up its body.
"These are all very powerful relics. You can trade for any of them..."
"Not trading," Li Luo cut him off directly.
The chubby Lego Man, holding the relics, froze. "Let me tell you what these relics do. For some races, any one of these could be used as a treasured heirloom that protects the entire clan..."
"No need for introductions. I’m not trading," Li Luo bluntly refused again.
"Why would you want to trade such precious treasures for my relic? Doesn’t that just mean my relic is more valuable than all of your treasures? If that’s the case, why on earth would I trade with you?"
Li Luo’s clear logic made the chubby Lego Man freeze up again.
It could only awkwardly put away its "treasures."
"It’s not like that. A divine item isn’t necessarily the most valuable one, but it must be the most suitable one." The chubby Lego Man looked at the Block in the air. "And that is the most suitable one."
"This is your first time at the Sea of Creation, isn’t it?" the chubby Lego Man asked Li Luo.
Of course, Li Luo didn’t answer such a suspicious-sounding question.
Seeing Li Luo remain silent, the chubby Lego Man sighed.
"So it is. If you had spent some time in the Sea of Creation, you would know about these things."
The chubby Lego Man kept its distance from Li Luo and began to speak, as if to itself:
"For us Seekers of the Divine, if we wish to seek a god’s aid, we must find a divine item to attract its attention. A divine item can be anything—a broken piece of crystal from the roadside, or some kind of priceless treasure..."
"But only we Seekers of the Divine know what is most suitable. And your relic is what we believe to be the most suitable divine item."
It looked at the Block, its face full of longing.
"How do you know it’s the most suitable?" Li Luo retorted.
"Of course we know! This is the god we’ve been painstakingly pursuing..." the chubby Lego Man answered hastily.
But seeing Li Luo’s unconvinced expression, the chubby Lego Man thought for a moment and began to explain again:
"Let me give you an example. I understand human culture. You humans also worship gods. When you go to worship a god, is it better to bring fruit? Or is it better to bring a basketball?"
"That depends," Li Luo replied. "Some gods like fruit, and some gods like basketballs."
Hearing Li Luo’s answer, the chubby Lego Man scratched its head in embarrassment.
"There are human gods that like basketballs? It seems my understanding of human culture isn’t deep enough... But this can also be explained."
"Anyway, my point is, that’s how worshipping gods works. You have to know what the god you’re worshipping likes."
"Is it fruit? Or a basketball? Or something else entirely."
"When a civilization forms the cultural symbol of a god, it certainly also defines the god’s preferences. This is all based on something, because the image of a god originates from reality, so naturally it will have an attachment to real-world things."
"As Seekers of the Divine, we of course know the god’s preferences, and we are very clear about what the god wants."
"That’s why we’re so certain that this is the most suitable thing."
As it spoke, the chubby Lego Man pointed to the Block again.
But its words and actions only made Li Luo even more defensive.
"I won’t let you take it to worship some god, let alone sell it to you. Go find something else." Li Luo’s attitude hadn’t changed. She walked over to the Block and stood firmly beside it.
The chubby Lego Man helplessly glanced between Li Luo and the Block for a moment.
"We’ve been searching for a very long time and have never found a suitable item. Without a divine item, we can’t seek the god’s favor. The god won’t even pay attention to us..."
As it was pouring out its grievances, the blocks on its chest suddenly split apart, and a head violently burst through its torso and shot out.
It was the tall, thin one from before.
"Stop talking so much to her! As long as the divine item exists, the god will definitely appear! That is true transcendence! We just have to follow them!"
The chubby one quickly stuffed the babbling head back inside, then gave an embarrassed laugh.
"Even though it’s always having episodes like that, it does have a point... I’ll just follow you..."
