I'm the Only Magus in This Witch World
Chapter 134: Witch of the Rime-Blight’s Disciple
Faye was unusually less talkative, only answering the questions Melisandre asked her with the fewest words possible.
At first, they were simple questions, as though they were genuinely having a casual conversation. How was she feeling? Was she doing well? What was her favorite color? Things like that.
Then the conversation slowly shifted to her first mission, where she had been tasked with killing a goblin but failed.
Then she started to describe the time she found herself in the Faceless Witch’s dimension and how she stayed alive using her serene state.
Faye still answered somewhat timidly, but thanks to Melisandre’s pointed questions, she was able to describe everything in detail, including what had happened with Magna.
The Witch seemed particularly interested in that part, asking even more questions about it.
"Oh, he taught you a method for using your bloodline trait?" she asked, sounding quite surprised.
This part was actually written in the reports she had read, except for the part about Magna, of course.
What the report said was that Faye had an outstanding mastery over her bloodline trait, and using that, she managed to escape from the Faceless Witch.
It was already a very interesting thing to learn that a child like her had mastered her bloodline trait, but now an even more interesting matter had come up.
’’It’s not a method. It’s a game. ’’ Faye corrected her.
During the conversation, her behavior had already started to change. As time passed she became less tense, and her talkative nature slowly began to show itself.
Melisandre laughed. ’’Game? I also like playing games. Teach me what kind of game it is. ’’
Hearing that she wanted to learn how to play the game, Faye got even more spirited. She got up from the couch and started teaching her the acting method.
Melisandre listened to her with the same excitement, and she looked like she was genuinely enjoying it, not faking it at all.
She even tried the acting herself, though she wasn’t quite good at it.
’’Not bad, but you should feel like you really are that character. Even your thoughts need to change. ’’ Faye immediately gave her the pointers that Magna had taught her.
’’Look at me, I’ll give you an example. ’’ She started to enter the role herself.
Melisandre watched her demeanor suddenly change so fast that she was quite taken aback.
Her childish gaze had changed in an instant. Those blue eyes that had been looking tense and evasive just a moment ago were now looking at her with a terrifying indifference.
Her face became so emotionless that it would make anyone wonder what kind of life she had to go through to be able to erase all emotion from her face like that.
But that wasn’t all, as a chilling cold even started to rise from her body, quickly dropping the temperature of the room.
’What a talented child. ’ Melisandre thought silently, genuinely praising her.
She had learned the game herself too, but she thought that even if she worked on it for years, she would never be as talented at it as this child.
And the most important part was that her bloodline trait had become active within mere seconds of using the method.
So far only praise had been running through Melisandre’s mind, until she heard Faye start speaking.
"You came here to my place. Hurt my beloved friend, and now you’re sitting there just hoping everything will go as you wish?"
A jolt ran through the Witch as she suddenly found herself unable to tell whether the girl was actually acting or being serious.
But looking into those empty eyes, showing no anger, no resentment, nothing at all but a cold look, was enough to make her sure of one thing.
’This girl has an incredible future ahead of her. ’
A wide smile appeared on her smooth, dark-skinned face, larger than any smile she had shown so far, as she slowly stood up.
Her shining emerald eyes locked with those ice-blue eyes for a few seconds before she finally spoke.
"Faye, would you like to become my master’s disciple?"
—
"You’re so slow. My mouth can handle more than this."
Magna was still lying motionless on the bed as he spoke while chewing the food in his mouth.
After drinking the medicine, he had quickly started to regain feeling in his body, beginning with his head.
As soon as he was able to move his mouth again, the first thing he asked for was food.
But since he still wasn’t able to move his hands, Renna had to be the one to feed him.
"Don’t talk like the anomaly in this room is me." Renna, scowling, took another sandwich from the trolley and pushed it into his mouth like she was stuffing a trash bag into a bin.
She had never seen anyone eat like this.
Whatever she put into Magna’s mouth, he chewed so fast and gulped everything down in one bite that by the time she turned around, it was already gone.
’Where is all this even going? ’ She wondered if there was some kind of dimensional space in his stomach.
"Give me some juice as well," Magna demanded more after chewing and swallowing an entire sandwich.
’’This? ’’ Renna pointed to one of the drinks on the trolley.
’’No, the orange one. ’’
She picked up the huge glass, filled all the way to the brim, and started pouring it into his mouth.
She watched the orange liquid pour into his mouth and slide down his throat before disappearing. She couldn’t begin to guess where it led, somewhere deep within that endless darkness.
While they kept up this strange feeding ritual, the door of the room suddenly opened.
Faye rushed inside with a cheerful expression. ’’I’m back, hehehe. ’’
She ran and quickly hopped onto the bed, right on top of Magna.
"Ughk!"
He suddenly spat out the meat he had only just chewed, unable to swallow it because of the force of her landing on his stomach.
’’Yuck... disgusting. ’’ Faye jerked back immediately, a few pieces of food landing on her.
Magna wanted to protest and tell her it was her fault, but she beat him to it.
’’You know I passed my Trial just now? ’’ She said excitedly to them. ’’Lady Melisandre even said her master would want to take me as a disciple. ’’
Renna, who was currently cleaning up the splattered food with a piece of cloth, paused. ’’Her master? Who is her master? ’’
She wasn’t surprised to hear that someone from the Tower had taken an interest in Faye. She had already expected Faye to attract the attention of someone there.
Though who it was, was still what mattered.
Before answering, Faye started to giggle. ’’You can never guess. ’’
’’No one wants to guess. Just say it. ’’ Renna gave her a side glance before putting more food into Magna’s mouth.
Faye, though feeling a little disheartened by the lack of excitement she was expecting to see, said with a pouting face.
’’Witch of the Rime-Blight. ’’
The moment the name left her mouth, another loud puff echoed through the room as Magna spat out the food in his mouth again.
