Chapter 68: Final Points

Quickly after they were forced outside the great hall under supervision, they were allowed to get changed into their event suits.

Wearing his magically created tailored diamond suit given to him on his first day here, he stared at the mirror in his own room; Ami and Irose were waiting outside.

As he wasn’t allowed to even speak a single word to them.

But even if he could, he had nothing to say, so he could only give them a sympathetic look before leaving them alone to handle the room.

’’What are you waiting for? Get moving.’’ One of the staff members beside him spoke as Steven followed his command.

Walking down the dorm stairs, he could already see the rest of the diamond students standing at the bottom, most of them still wearing bandages.

As Lucy was only staring in the air, her eyes empty, while a guard had to force her forward.

It nearly broke his heart seeing them like that, but he didn’t have time to be sentimental.

Especially because he could feel multiple marks of the finger placed around the mansion while they had been gone.

He should really talk to their security when they returned from the event, because how could nobody besides him notice them?

Shortly after, they were moved toward the already student-packed great hall and escorted towards the two tables of the diamond students.

They seem to be the last to arrive at the event. As they could stare down at the masses of students below whispering.

Until everyone turned quiet as Ms. Trellen entered the main stage, with Principal Yumoth only standing to the side staring at the ground.

"Welcome, everyone." As she walked around her podium, "Some of you might be questioning why I called everyone here?"

"Exactly, wasn’t this an event just for your class and not everyone else?’’ A student from the Emerald table yelled in annoyance.

"Yes, yes, you’re right, but sadly the result of it wasn’t as we had expected.’’ Her voice was flat as she waved her hands towards the diamond tables.

"We had an intruder to our school event, which sadly ended in the death of one of your fellow classmates. Her voice sounded like a provocation to the diamonds.

Meanwhile, the entire hall fell entirely quiet, only their whispers growing. ’’A student had died under the supervision of the teachers?’

"Wait, an intruder? Who would dare attack this school?’’

Their whispers only continued until Steven could hear them loud enough as if they were standing next to him.

’’I am sure all of you got so many questions for us, but please understand we can’t just simply answer all of them.’’ She broke all their whispers apart once again, signalling towards the diamond students.

"Back to what I was talking about, those brave students stood their way against the powerful enemy, holding it off until we managed to arrive.’’

As a wave of short applause went through the students.

As Elizabeth turned her head towards Yumoth, "You want to add anything, Sir Yumoth?"

But he stood quiet, shaking his head in denial.

"Well, if it is that way, then we can continue with the final scores from the event.’’As a golden piece of paper stared floating behind her.

"Beforehand, a special word of thanks to Mr. Eden and Lumiel for acting in their duty as hunters, eliminating over forty students each, that being the second highest of the event."

As she signalled them to come down and stand at the podium.

’’From the four hundred students participating, only half of them managed to pass the exam by gathering enough points and surviving their time needed.’’

As the list filled itself with names ranging from Jade to Sapphire classes, but not a single diamond one being mentioned.

’’Now we will start with the special mentions for each student that did exceptionally well.’’

As she moved her finger towards the sapphire table, "Mr. Trevor, over there, had been the student passing with the most points, a staggering 107."

A wave of applause followed, especially from his teammates, but Elizabeth interrupted their celebration.

"But I personally don’t think that shows the right appreciation, so is this a special case? I will allow him to pass even when getting eliminated early."

The crowd was stunned, and even Steven was confused, since when is Elizabeth so nice to students?

"Coming back to our special mentions, I would love for June Frostes, Merency Moonstone, and Lucy Starpasser to come forward.

All the girls made their way forward except for Lucy, who was grabbed by her wrist by Merency and brought to the podium.

"All of those students managed to gain one hundred points and hold out the two days outside without getting eliminated, and even after all that, they still fought for the intruder with their lives. ’’

As the list behind her completed filling the very top.

The rest of the remaining diamond table that hadn’t participated stared at Steven, who was the only one still sitting.

’’Normally I would end this celebration here and now. Elizabeth spoke once more. ’’But there is one more thing I must mention.’’

Steven could feel the tension increasing in the air as a dark red list formed itself behind Ms. Trellen.

"The students having eliminated most of the whole event, ninety-two to be exact.’’ As a wave of applause was about to start. She moves her hand, cutting them off.

"But sadly, did this student not only gain the lowest score of the whole event with minus one hundred, but he also broke the most important rule of this school and the whole event.’’

Her voice turned sharp, almost spitting her words. ’’Leaving behind your teammates and hiding yourself to save your own skin can’t go unpunished in my event.’’

’’This person will be stripped of their rank and demoted to a lower dorm.’’

As her gaze finally changed from the crowd up to the diamond table.

"So come forward to us, Mr. Bright.’’
