Chapter 66: Who?

He grabbed Lucy by her shoulders once more.

"Please tell me all of this is a joke, right?" as he shook her.

But her eyes remained empty as she stared at him, visibly uncomfortable by his sudden closeness.

"Sorry, but can you let me go?" as she tried to push him away softly. ’’I am feeling a bit weird.’’

As she fell forward without any warning, gaining the attention of Professor Alem.

Steven held her close, unsure what he should do.

"Kid, is everything alright with her?" Alem asked, looking concerned, as he hurried over.

"Something is wrong with her memories; she doesn’t seem to remember anything." Steven answered, laying her on the ground softly.

Hearing his words, his professor seemed to relax slightly as he finally arrived next to him.

"It’s normal for people to forget a painful fight right after; it’s to protect yourself.’’ Alem spoke softly, still checking Lucy for any injuries.

"It’s not just that; she doesn’t seem to remember anything at all, not even her own name.’’ He tried explaining as he watched Alem’s face darken.

"Ms. Trellen, can you come over here for a moment?" he yelled towards the group of worried-looking staff members.

Elizabeth flashed, stepping just next to them. "What’s wrong, Professor Alem?" As she stared down at Lucy.

"There seems to be a case of partial or complete memory loss with this young girl. ’’ He spoke, sounding truly bothered by her condition.

Elizabeth only let out a sigh, staring at the unconcious girl. ’’Not our duty to hand her to the medical team. ’’ Her voice was as cold as ice, not showing a hint of sympathy.

Alem stared at her with a judging gaze, only giving Steven a small nod of disappointment. ’’Ms. Trellen is probably right; the medical staff will know how to handle this.’’

Steven stared at both completely different teachers; even though Elizabeth was a demon, her reaction was abnormal. In comparison, this Mr. Alem guy seemed to be the ideal for a teacher.

After the staff took Lucy with them, Elizabeth disappeared too, positioning herself next to Yumoth, who still looked troubled.

Steven stepped away too; after all, the event still wasn’t over since Elizabeth hadn’t announced anything.

Meaning everyone that had been carried away would be counted as having lost a fight.

They would all lose one hundred points, meaning they failed the event if they didn’t gain any afterwards.

As he stepped towards Edward, who had been waiting at a tree, staring into the distance.

"You know they will be counted as beaten and lose points for their loss, right?" he asked the blond man, who slowly turned towards him.

’’Most likely, even when they got beaten by somebody on the outside, the rules are clear.’’ He sounded slightly bothered by the possibility.

’’I might have an idea how we could fix that if you agree.’’ His voice was dead serious as he stared at Edward.

Who only curled his brow interested, "What’s your plan, Bright?"

"Pretty simple: you and Lumiel both count as diamond class members in the event, so if we were to tell the staff you were both beaten by June and Lucy, they would gain points back."

"Not a bad plan, but they need one hundred points to pass, meaning we would only bring them back to zero," as his interest seemed to dwindle away.

’’Lucy has a diamond crystal; it would bring her up to a hundred, and about June... I will leave the event too for her points. ’’He was dead serious.

Edward stared at him conflicted. "What about you and Merency? Don’t you two need the points too?" Edward sounded extremely suspicious of Steven’s unusual, horrific being.

’’Don’t worry. ’’ As they pulled out two diamond crystals. ’’We have more than enough for ourself and even hidden some more.’’

Putting the crystals back away, Edward let out a sigh of agreement. ’’

I guess that leaves us no other choice. ’’

The young blond man stepped away, walking to a teacher explaining something to Jim, as he then pointed to Lumiel and then to his wounded arm, acting like he was in great pain, as even Steven could hear his screams.

The teacher nodded agreeingly, still with slight disappointment visible on his face as he called the medical staff over, who took Edward with them on a stretcher.

Making his way over to one of the medical staff, he cleared his throat. "Argg, hey, are you there?" Tap him on the shoulder weakly.

As the guy turned towards him, Steven acted like he could properly walk. "This June girl really got me good; I don’t think I can continue the event anymore."

"Are you sure, young man? You look rather fine to me," the staff replied, inspecting him only slightly, ready to move on from him.

But Steven gave him a death glare. "Yes, I am sure; I can barely stand anymore.’’ Acting like he nearly fell forward from just talking to somebody.

The staff stared at him disappointed but then called over some help as a group of medical staff members inspected him carefully.

Steven was moved on a stretcher and carried away outside the forest with surprising speed, as each of the staff members was a powerful magician too.

As the staff returned back to the university, he could see the rest of the diamond students being carried there too.

Finally being placed down in the empty great main hall, they were probably still waiting for the research of the fight to finish before they could start any treatment.

Taking a deep breath, Steven turned himself invisible while nobody was watching as he moved through the dark hall.

He followed the mana of Merency, who was still unconscious, as he stopped just next to her temporary bed.

"I am sorry all of this happened because of me," he whispered.

Pulling out the two diamond crystals, they would be counted as her assets after the event had finished.

Placing them inside her hand, Steven turned around, walking back to his own bed.
