Chapter 506: Chapter 253: "Bund

The moment that small hand trembled and emerged from the bloody chunk of flesh.

Everyone present for the delivery, especially Situ Yong, saw their grim expressions change drastically in an instant.

They all stared in disbelief at the small hand, as fair as a lotus root.

Its five chubby fingers and the fine hairs upon them were clearly visible. Amidst Mo Kuang’s ravaged abdominal cavity, it was like a white lotus emerging from the mud, unstained—so clean it was unbelievable.

Mo Kuang, who had just let out a bloodcurdling scream, saw his expression change once more. His clear eyes were again stained a pure black. He suddenly tilted his head and grinned with unnerving innocence.

A smooth, bare head pushed its way out. Its facial features were not yet formed, but it had a chubby little mouth that was busy sucking on its fingers.

Mo Kuang was grinning foolishly, but the skin all over his body was shriveling at a terrifying, visible rate, losing its luster in an instant.

Situ Yong and Xi’er were both stunned. Neither had ever witnessed such a bizarre "birth," much less such a miserable "expectant father." It was as if Mo Kuang’s body had been seized. His life force gradually weakened, yet the smile on his face grew wider. As he gazed at the Nascent Soul in his abdomen, his pure black eyes seemed to reveal a glint of what could only be called "paternal love."

While Situ Yong and Xi’er were still at a loss, Zheng Xiu darted between them. He grabbed the small head with one hand and, with a wet POP, yanked it out of Mo Kuang’s body and tossed it aside.

"Stitch him up. Now."

Zheng Xiu acted as if he’d done nothing more than a trivial chore. After he’d tossed the Nascent Soul away, Mo Kuang’s body went limp and collapsed, his breaths shallow and infrequent. Zheng Xiu pointed at Mo Kuang’s stomach and patted Xi’er on the shoulder. With a whimper, she snapped back to her senses, her scalp tingling with horror as she looked at the mangled, bloody abdomen.

The next second, Xi’er held a needle in each hand. In the blink of an eye, her Skillful Hands flew back and forth across Mo Kuang’s stomach. In the space of a few breaths, her hands moved so fast they became a blur, and in a single pass, Mo Kuang’s belly "looked" as if it were stitched shut.

Zheng Xiu stared at the stitched wound, momentarily stunned. ’Damn,’ he thought. ’As expected of the Tailor. She actually embroidered a chrysanthemum on Mo Kuang’s stomach.’

But it was only stitched up on the surface.

Dark red blood continued to ooze from between the stitches.

Mo Kuang’s breathing grew weaker and weaker.

The Surprise Cage had, against all odds, rolled the one ultimate Skill that could heal anything: "Sad Celestial Rain." Xi’er and Situ Yong had finished the difficult delivery just within the time Restriction for using the Skill. A faint green light now enveloped the blade of Broken Moon, the Tang Saber in Zheng Xiu’s hand. The young man smiled faintly, swung the blade through the air toward Mo Kuang’s stomach, and then sheathed it with a flourish.

CLICK.

"Sad Celestial Rain."

Zheng Xiu closed his eyes, and the Tang Saber dissipated in his hand.

The demonic purple halo in the sky faded, and a brilliant green rain of light, like a divine miracle, fell upon Lu Town.

With a single slash, the young man had unleashed a sky full of green light.

"Wow! It’s so green!"

Xi’er’s mouth formed an "o".

Bathed in the green rain of light, the chrysanthemum-shaped wound on Mo Kuang’s stomach healed rapidly.

In the distance, Snake puffed out its chest, letting out a series of "OOH-OOH-OOH-HISS-HISS-HISS" sounds, its face a picture of pure bliss.

The wounds... they’re healing!

It’s back! It’s back! It’s all back!

Tears streamed down Snake’s face in an instant.

It wished it could soak up even more of the nourishing dew-like rain.

After unleashing the ultimate Skill "Sad Celestial Rain" in this manner, Zheng Xiu strode through the ruins, searching for the "Nascent Soul" he had just thrown.

The "Nascent Soul," which looked so much like a Human baby, was already still.

"It died prematurely."

Situ Yong came up behind the young man, his face full of regret. "What a pity! This was a rare ’medical case’ that one might only see once in a thousand years."

Zheng Xiu raised his hand, then hesitated. The Nascent Soul looked so much like a Human infant that he found it difficult to act. ’Perhaps its premature death is the best possible outcome,’ he thought. With that, Zheng Xiu turned away.

But Zheng Xiu’s mind was elsewhere. Having dealt with the "Nascent Soul" and saved Mo Kuang with a single "Sad Celestial Rain," he returned to the spot where Fragrant Maiden and Bai Qiuyue had vanished. He paced back and forth, rubbing his forehead.

He was still trying to understand how Zhu could possess the Ability of an "Incarnation," how he could travel across great distances with no regard for space, and how he could have vanished into thin air right under his nose.

’Where on earth did he go?’

’So his previous method of movement wasn’t just limited to that of a Crow Fosterer?’

’If that’s the case, catching that guy will be harder than climbing to Heaven.’

’Why is it like this?’

’Why?’

’Why is everything about him so similar to a Prisoner?’

’Am I not the only Prisoner between Heaven and Earth?’

’No, that’s not right. The Prisoner’s Deceitful Object is on me. I am Jiazi, the one and only Jiazi between Heaven and Earth! Absolutely no doubt about it!’

’If he’s not a Prisoner, could it be... a similar Ability?’

’That’s it. Perhaps it’s the Ferryman Bai Qiuyue’s Miracle Technique!’

One question after another sprang up like bamboo shoots after a spring rain.

Zheng Xiu suddenly recalled Zhu’s story.

A thousand years ago, after enduring untold hardships, he saw the "Scorching Sun."

’Hmm... could it be that the Scorching Sun he saw a thousand years ago... was... me?’

An absurd thought surfaced.

Immediately after, Zheng Xiu burst out laughing, "Haha."

"Impossible."

Zheng Xiu shook his head forcefully. The conjecture was so absurd and bizarre that he dismissed it instantly.

Zhu was so mysterious. Zheng Xiu had finally managed to catch ahold of Zhu’s trail in Lu Town, and he was truly unwilling to just let him get away.

Then again, perhaps Zhu was hiding in the shadows at this very moment, observing Zheng Xiu’s every move.

Zheng Xiu refused to believe that Zhu would give up so easily. After all, he had spent an entire year in Lu Town plotting as his Incarnation "Fragrant Maiden," all for the sake of the "Nascent Soul"—especially now that the Disaster Prevention Bureau’s unintentional meddling was over.
