Chapter 505: Chapter 252: New Life

"HISSS..."

After Zhu and Bai Qiuyue suddenly vanished, Snake sensed the danger had passed and finally emerged from the darkness. She furtively put her veil back on, hiding her hideous face, and discontentedly rubbed her chest. A moment ago, Bai Qiuyue’s staff had struck her right on her flat chest. If not for her extraordinary Talent, the heavy blow might have shattered her sternum. The painful attack only made her already unremarkable figure worse. She hoped massaging the spot would help the injury heal and, perhaps, encourage a little growth.

In the distance, two figures rushed toward them across the rooftops under the cover of night.

It was Ye and Jun Buxiao, who were in charge of evacuating the townspeople. As they hurried over, they were shouting in the Eternal World Painting group chat:

Jun Buxiao: "Hee hee hee! A lot of weird things are coming!" Jun Buxiao’s laughter died in his throat. "This is bad! They don’t have shadows!"

"Young Master!" Ye’s voice was breathless; using her Melody for city-wide hypnosis across all of Lu Town had clearly taken a lot out of her. Ye said weakly in the Eternal World Painting, "Almost all the townspeople have been evacuated outside the town. Those widows who gave birth to the monstrous infants... they’re all dead!"

’Damn you... Zhu!’

Although Zheng Xiu was no Saint, hearing that so many widows had died still filled him with an uncontrollable hatred for Zhu. He woodenly hung the Red King Mirror back on his waist, turned to Situ Yong, and said in a flat, almost emotionless tone, "Elder Divine Doctor, you’ll make the incision. Xi’er, you’ll stitch him up. If he’s lucky enough to survive that, I’ll handle the rest."

Xi’er was taken aback. "Young Master, you? Wait, am I really the one stitching?"

What she really wanted to say was that whoever makes the incision should be the one to stitch it closed. But Situ Yong just spread his hands with a helpless smile. His gesture clearly told Xi’er that he only knew how to cut, not how to suture.

Zheng Xiu didn’t answer. He tossed the sticky saber to the Elder Divine Doctor, and then he and the cat strode into the depths of the street.

Ye and Snake met up, lowering their heads to speak in hushed tones.

Mo Kuang’s face was now ferocious, all traces of his former innocence gone as he struggled for his life. But under Xi’er’s control, he lay spread-eagled on the ground, unable to move except for the occasional twitch.

But as Mo Kuang’s struggles and twitches continued, a pained expression slowly appeared on Xi’er’s face. Her fingernails were being torn from her ten fingers, oozing blood. Xi’er gritted her teeth and said, "If you don’t start now, I won’t be able to hold him down much longer!"

"Fire!" Situ Yong steeled himself. He unrolled his scalpel roll on the ground, revealing six blades of varying lengths and shapes arranged neatly inside. Jun Buxiao opened his mouth and blew a stream of fire, heating the tools until they were practically medium-well before nodding to the Elder Divine Doctor, indicating he could begin.

BOOM!

Just then, an earth-shattering tremor erupted from the street corner. The ground split open, and houses began to collapse one after another. A series of terrifying rifts snaked out from the toppling buildings, extending all the way to their feet.

The violent tremor gave the small squad in front of the inn quite a scare; they thought another strange creature had appeared. Looking toward the source, they saw a winged figure soaring high into the air, wildly swinging two Large Curved Sabers wreathed in black flames as it smashed them down.

Another city block collapsed.

Situ Yong had entered his zone, completely ignoring the chaos outside as he began to cut.

SCHLICK!

The moment the searing-hot blade touched Mo Kuang’s abdomen, the skin burst open like a balloon.

BOOM!

At that moment, Little Horse Red King took flight again, cleaving the clouds with a long, narrow, curved saber.

In the distance, the entire top floor of the Yan Chun Building was sliced clean off by an invisible blade aura.

Jet-black blood gushed out like a fountain, staining the Elder Divine Doctor’s hands. He kept switching blades, but the shocking tangle of blood vessels and chunks of flesh inside had long since surpassed the scope of "Human" or even "woman." In the Elder Divine Doctor’s eyes, the structure inside this man’s belly was not something a person could grow. All his past experience was useless here, but with the scalpel already in hand and a life to save, the Elder Divine Doctor could only brace himself and keep cutting.

"Medical Compassion... Medical Compassion... Medical Compassion..."

Situ Yong muttered the words like a mantra as he pulled out more and more chunks of flesh. A small, gory mountain of meat began to pile up on the empty ground beside them, a terrifying sight.

Just then, Little Horse Zheng Xiu, who had demolished half the city, finally rolled his "Sad Celestial Rain" ability and descended from the sky with a blank expression.

"Hurry! Don’t overthink it, just make one clean cut!" Zheng Xiu urged. "As long as he’s still breathing, I can pull him back from the brink! Don’t hold back!"

Situ Yong looked back at Zheng Xiu, dazed. Seeing the unwavering resolve in the young man’s eyes, he could only choose to trust him. Gritting his teeth, he switched to his longest, widest blade—a cleaver nearly the length of his forearm, normally used for separating tendons and chopping bone—and, closing his eyes, he brought it down.

The struggling Mo Kuang suddenly went still. The strange black specks in his eyes receded from the edges back into his pupils. Mo Kuang, now with a dazed expression, was still pinned to the ground. He managed to lift his head slightly and stared blankly at his own torn-open abdomen.

A small, delicate, pale hand reached out silently.

Mo Kuang stared dumbly at the hand emerging from his own gory, mangled abdomen.

After a moment of dead silence.

"AHHHHHH—"

A shrill, helpless, and unending scream, rising and falling in terrible cadence, echoed throughout Lu Town.
