I Write Novels in a Zerg Prison
Chapter 335: Pregnant Female Zerg Ulysses: 'I’m afraid we’ll fuck the Zerg egg out of existence.' An Ruo mumbled, quietly whispering into Ulysses’s ear.
Ulysses looked at the test results displayed on the light screen. Although he had already expected this, actually seeing the result still brought a sense of relief and joy, as though everything had finally settled into place.
His entire body felt light, almost floating, like the euphoria after getting high. He instinctively looked for his male and happened to meet An Ruo’s stunned gaze.
He smiled at him.
“Male Lord, our Uromia is here.”
Uromia.
Their hatchling.
Their little Umi.
He had crossed the universe and spacetime to come to their side.
An Ruo felt his nose suddenly sting. He didn’t even know how he had gotten to Ulysses’s side.
He wanted to hug him, but was afraid that in his excitement he might fail to control his strength and hurt Ulysses or the fragile egg inside him.
In the end, he merely held his hands loosely beside Ulysses’s waist and abdomen, full of joy and cherishing affection.
When had Ulysses ever been treated like something fragile?
Seeing An Ruo looking as if he desperately wanted to hug him but didn’t dare, he was even a little confused.
“Male Lord, please don’t worry. The hatchling is still inside the egg and hasn’t grown sharp claws yet. It won’t hurt you,” Ulysses reassured him softly.
Strictly speaking, it couldn’t even be called an egg yet.
It was still only a fertilized ovum.
But even after the hatchling broke out of its shell, it wouldn’t hurt its Male Father.
That was a very obedient and intelligent child.
Even from a young age, it had been very good at keeping its claws and scales retracted. At an age when other Female Zerg hatchlings would still occasionally sprout scales and claws uncontrollably, it had already been able to freely control its Zerg transformation.
The experiences from those worlds had become blurred after they ended, but whenever Ulysses deliberately tried to recall them, everything naturally surfaced in his mind.
Ulysses remembered many things.
The scene after the hatchling broke out of its shell, when An Ruo lifted it from the eggshell and carefully held it in his arms, was especially vivid and remained fresh in his memory.
When Ulysses himself had hatched, he had never received his Male Father’s embrace.
His hatchling had.
Hearing Ulysses say that the hatchling wouldn’t hurt him left An Ruo speechless.
That wasn’t what he was worried about at all.
He was clearly worried about...
An Ruo looked at the scan displayed on the terminal light screen and couldn’t help feeling anxious.
“So tiny.”
It looked far too fragile.
As though it would shatter at a touch.
As though it might disappear if he blinked.
Ulysses wrapped an arm around An Ruo and had him sit beside him, their bodies pressed together as they looked at the image inside the gestational sac on the screen.
He explained,
“The Zerg egg is only two weeks old right now. The gestational ovum has only just formed. It’ll take another few weeks before it develops into an embryo.”
During the previous two weeks, the yolk released by his body had combined with the male pheromones stored inside his gestational sac, forming a fertilized ovum.
The gestational ovum was currently extremely small.
Even on the scan, it looked like nothing more than a dot.
It would take about four months for the embryo to grow to the size of a fist, and six months for it to reach the size of a mature Zerg egg.
By then, it would be time to give birth.
An Ruo had learned about all of this before.
But when everything actually happened right in front of him, he was still deeply shaken.
It was difficult to imagine that a body as powerful as Ulysses’s, practically like some ferocious cosmic beast, was nurturing a hatchling inside.
But perhaps it was precisely because he was so powerful that he could bear the heavy responsibility of gestating a hatchling.
Together with Ulysses, An Ruo learned a great deal more about pregnancy and raising hatchlings, as well as the things they would need to prepare next.
They had already studied all of this in other worldlines.
But going through it again, now that everything had truly arrived, both of them studied very seriously.
“Should we tell Selerus about the pregnancy?”
An Ruo suddenly remembered that they should share their joy with their family and friends, so he asked Ulysses.
Of course they had to tell him.
Selerus was Ulysses’s most important family member.
The only question was when.
That was what An Ruo was asking.
Ulysses had also considered this. He first opened Selerus’s recent updates and took a look.
His Female Father had gone traveling.
He had joined a group of Female Zergs who had successfully completed Psychic Soothing treatment and formed a retired military Female Zerg tour group.
In the latest update, his Female Father had already climbed the tallest snow mountain on an ice-and-snow planet and was leaping down a slope approaching ninety degrees.
A group of retired military Female Zergs were challenging themselves with skiing and having a wonderful time.
His Female Father had been imprisoned in the Military Region Prison for many years.
This kind of relaxation and happiness was rare for him.
Ulysses didn’t want to interrupt it.
If he told Selerus that he was pregnant, his Female Father would be overjoyed—but he would also immediately end his trip and rush back.
Ulysses didn’t want him to abandon his own life and enjoyment for his sake.
Looking at Selerus smiling across the snowy plains in the footage, Ulysses said,
“We’ll tell him in a few days. Let him have a little more fun first.”
An Ruo supported his decision.
Let Selerus enjoy himself.
He would take good care of Ulysses.
As for exactly how to care for a pregnant Female Zerg, there weren’t any tutorials on StarNet.
The Zerg race never taught Male Zergs how to take care of Female Zergs.
An Ruo had no choice but to figure it out himself.
Overall, it basically meant paying attention to whether Ulysses was too hot or cold, protecting him carefully, keeping him from bumping into anything, and making sure a pregnant Female Zerg avoided certain foods...
StarNet knowledge search:
Pregnant Female Zergs are advised not to consume low-energy ores that are difficult to digest, as poor energy absorption efficiency may affect the development of the Zerg egg.
Pregnant Female Zergs are advised not to consume foods exceeding 700°C, as excessively high temperatures may affect an unformed Zerg egg.
Do not drink magma.
Do not bathe in magma.
An Ruo: “...”
Even following these dietary restrictions apparently wasn’t easy.
With the extraordinarily powerful physique of Female Zergs, there really wasn’t much they specifically needed to avoid.
So An Ruo instead wrote down the foods recommended for pregnant Female Zergs.
...
At night, An Ruo continued protecting Ulysses even while they slept.
One hand rested lightly beside his waist while his body stayed a little farther away, avoiding contact with Ulysses’s waist and abdomen.
Before closing his eyes and going to sleep, he even used Psychic Power to implant a mental suggestion in himself.
Once asleep, don’t move around.
Especially don’t randomly roll over or kick.
Don’t throw a leg over Ulysses.
Don’t elbow him.
An Ruo himself had no idea whether he behaved properly in his sleep.
Ulysses had never told him anything or accused him of sleeping badly.
Whenever An Ruo woke up, he was always in Ulysses’s arms, their bodies pressed close together.
Sometimes their legs would be tangled together, and his hands would be resting in inappropriate places...
Those situations still counted as relatively mild.
At worst, he might already be pressed against him or buried inside.
If that happened, Ulysses would quietly postpone getting out of bed and start with a round of morning exercise first.
But Ulysses was pregnant now.
Things were different from before.
Something so careless and rough absolutely couldn’t happen anymore.
That made the mental suggestion necessary.
An Ruo was grateful he possessed Psychic Power and could use it to restrain himself.
Otherwise, during this period, he might not even dare sleep in the same bed as Ulysses.
He knew Female Zergs were extremely strong and wouldn’t break from being touched.
But he had no concrete sense of exactly how strong they actually were.
Subconsciously, he also felt that a pregnant Female Zerg ought to receive more care.
And after seeing that tiny ovum on the scan, looking so fragile, he only felt they needed to be even more careful.
An Ruo lay there properly.
When he was preparing to sleep, he even withdrew the hand that had originally been protecting Ulysses’s waist.
He folded both hands over his abdomen and lay flat on his back, his posture so perfect he could have played Sleeping Beauty inside an ice coffin.
He was ready to sleep.
Ulysses, however, couldn’t.
He was a pregnant Female Zerg.
He needed more male pheromones for nourishment.
Yet for the past several days, his male had not touched him at all.
Even while sleeping, An Ruo refused to press against him.
Ulysses felt thoroughly neglected.
He didn’t understand why this was happening.
He had even wondered whether An Ruo disliked pregnant Female Zergs and simply couldn’t feel desire toward them.
Going several days without pheromone nourishment wasn’t actually a serious problem.
A Zerg egg’s need for pheromones wasn’t that extreme.
According to the bare minimum standard, once a month was enough for the Zerg egg to grow and develop.
The Federation’s requirement for married Male Zergs was also merely that they provide for a pregnant Female Zerg once a month.
But Ulysses had never lived this abstinently.
Ever since An Ruo moved out of the Military Region Prison and started living with him, he could practically eat every day.
Even during the serialization of a new book, when the frequency decreased, the difference was merely between three or four times a day and once a day.
Now An Ruo had suddenly stopped touching him.
Ulysses was extremely unused to it.
Everything else was manageable.
Even his own desire could be endured and suppressed.
His self-control had always been excellent.
But if An Ruo disliked pregnant Female Zergs, if he disliked what a Female Zerg looked like while pregnant, that would be a serious problem.
In Ulysses’s original plans, he intended to lay as many eggs as possible.
The exact number depended on how many the god was willing to give him.
But as far as Ulysses himself was concerned, five or six wasn’t too many.
Eight or nine would also be fine.
Ideally, he wanted ten.
That would be enough to earn a Federation Female Father Medal, perfectly matching the Federation Male Father Medal he had once awarded An Ruo.
Anyone who saw them would immediately know how extraordinarily well matched they were.
If An Ruo disliked pregnant Female Zergs, then all of those plans would have to be overturned.
In the future...
They couldn’t have any more.
Ulysses lowered his eyes, silently thinking.
But then he felt An Ruo really didn’t seem like someone who disliked pregnant Female Zergs.
He recalled how An Ruo had reacted to his pregnancies in the other worldlines.
In the world where he married An Ruo while still a General, he hadn’t tested for pregnancy as frequently.
He hadn’t discovered the egg until he had already been pregnant for over a month.
Afterward, Ulysses would still often take the initiative and ride him.
Aside from anxiously holding his waist and telling him to be gentler, An Ruo hadn’t reacted in any particularly unusual way.
Back then, Ulysses had often blamed himself for getting too excited and moving too forcefully, making An Ruo hurt and forcing An Ruo to repeatedly tell him to be gentler.
Later, he became much more restrained and paid greater attention to controlling his strength.
He learned to reliably achieve both going deep and coming down lightly.
In the world where the god had been a tentacled species, his gestational sac had received five ova.
The god had blamed himself terribly for making him pregnant with five at once and could practically be described as panicking.
But after Ulysses persuaded the god by arguing that carrying five ova required five times the pheromones, he still received enormous amounts of nourishment every day.
It was just that while filling him, the god always bound him with tentacles and refused to let him move, pulling him spread-eagled and filling him very slowly and gently.
It was torturous for a Zerg.
Yet remembering it afterward made him itch with pleasure.
Ulysses compared those two worlds in which he had received eggs with the present.
He confirmed that An Ruo did not dislike pregnant Female Zergs.
So what exactly was wrong?
Ulysses couldn’t understand.
He experimentally reached toward An Ruo beneath the blankets.
His fingertips landed at the side of An Ruo’s waist, slowly slipped beneath the hem of his sleepwear, and gently stroked downward.
It was a hint.
They had been married and living together for so long.
Of course An Ruo understood Ulysses’s hints.
An Ruo, who had not yet fallen asleep, became almost instantly wide awake from the teasing.
In the darkness, he lightly bit his lip, deeply conflicted.
Ulysses wanted him.
Of course An Ruo didn’t want to disappoint him, and he wanted very much to satisfy him.
But when he thought of that tiny ovum inside Ulysses, looking unbelievably fragile, he could only refuse.
An Ruo pressed down on Ulysses’s hand and gently pulled it away.
“Wait a little longer,” he coaxed softly.
Until the egg was more stable.
An Ruo didn’t actually know how long it would take before it became “stable.”
For humans, it would be after three months.
For Zergs, it should be different.
But surely it would still take somewhere between one and three months?
The ovum was still so tiny.
What if they did it and fucked the egg out of existence?
What if they shook it apart?
The image of the yolk being shaken apart flashed through An Ruo’s mind, and he immediately felt terrified.
Ulysses didn’t understand what An Ruo meant by telling him to wait a little longer.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t wait.
But An Ruo wouldn’t hold him, and it left an emptiness in his heart, along with a faint hidden unease.
He lowered his eyes thoughtfully.
Then he decided to borrow a little external assistance in asking for sex.
“I’m a pregnant Female Zerg. I need pheromones. You haven’t wanted me for several days already,” Ulysses said quietly with lowered eyes.
His hands remained obediently still.
His voice also softened several degrees.
He deliberately placed himself in the weak, passive position of someone who had no other choice.
He knew his god’s sense of responsibility.
He also knew exactly what worked on him.
For the sake of achieving his goal, Ulysses didn’t mind showing weakness before the “enemy.”
Treating one’s male as an opponent and using schemes against him was very wrong and deserved the condemnation of one’s conscience.
But Female Zerg methods of pursuing males were all learned from military strategy.
Ulysses didn’t know any other way.
Hearing him say this, An Ruo suddenly remembered that pregnant Female Zergs required more pheromones.
After writing so many Zerg stories, of course he knew this little piece of setting knowledge.
It was just that he had previously treated it as background lore.
And on the other hand, he had thought that even if Ulysses required pheromones, surely he didn’t need them this early.
Waiting a month should be fine, right?
An Ruo explained what he had been thinking.
In return, Ulysses looked at him as though he were a scumbag Male Zerg.
Of course, Ulysses knew An Ruo wasn’t deliberately being [N O V E L I G H T] a scumbag.
Their species were simply different.
They had grown up in different environments with different ideas.
An Ruo simply hadn’t realized that this behavior was extremely scummy.
“Once a month... technically, that is acceptable...” Ulysses carefully organized his words, speaking with noticeable difficulty and reluctance. “According to Federation regulations, if a Male Lord gives his pregnant Female Zerg pheromones once a month, he qualifies as an acceptable Male Lord.”
How could An Ruo possibly fail to understand what he meant?
He immediately jolted.
Once a month counted as acceptable.
That meant the passing line had to be an extremely, extremely low standard.
Considering how tolerant the Zerg race was toward Male Zergs, that standard might be even lower than An Ruo imagined.
Probably just barely enough to keep the Zerg egg alive.
Could he possibly treat Ulysses and their hatchling according to a standard like that?
Of course not!
An Ruo immediately sat up.
Just remembering that he hadn’t given Ulysses anything for three days made him feel as though he had committed a terrible sin.
He practically wished he could immediately replenish every bit of missing pheromones and give Ulysses the premium package.
But when his hand landed on Ulysses’s waist, he inevitably became worried again.
“The Zerg egg is still so tiny. If we do it, wouldn’t something go wrong really easily?”
Ulysses: “?”
What could go wrong?
His male was about to give him pheromones.
What else could possibly happen?
Accidentally getting pregnant with another egg?
Even Ulysses didn’t dare dream of something that wonderful.
Still, he couldn’t stop the corners of his lips from lifting into a smile.
That made An Ruo give him two puzzled glances.
“What exactly are you worried about?” Ulysses asked as he sat up, looking at the male braced over him.
His mood had become extremely good.
Now that he realized his male hadn’t deliberately been neglecting him and was still willing to be intimate with him, all his earlier gloom vanished.
Now he was merely curious about exactly what An Ruo had been thinking.
An Ruo mumbled something and quietly whispered into Ulysses’s ear,
“I’m afraid we’ll fuck the Zerg egg out of existence.”
Ulysses fell speechless.
Then he burst out laughing.
An Ruo didn’t understand why he was laughing and even pushed lightly against his chest.
But Ulysses looked so good when he smiled.
A smile was such a rare sight on the face of this cold military Female Zerg.
An Ruo stared at him and became a little dazed.
Ulysses pulled him into his arms, unable to suppress the delight in his expression.
Holding his beloved male against him beneath the blankets, he lightly hooked himself around him and gently rubbed against him.
There was a teasing, playful look on his face as he said,
“Male Lord, fuck me. Fuck me to death. Even if you fuck me to death right here in bed, nothing will happen to the Zerg egg.”
An Ruo’s ears instantly turned red.
Even the roots of his ears flushed crimson.
In a panic, he reached out and covered Ulysses’s mouth.
What kind of obscene nonsense was Ulysses saying!?
Had he gone insane???
