I Write Novels in a Zerg Prison
Chapter 296: What If An Had Been the One Who Married Ulysses (2): When a Male Zerg Says He Misses You, It Usually Means He Wants to Sleep with You
Ulysses did not know what the Male Zerg’s objective was, but what he did know now was that his Male Lord had become the Male Zerg standing before him.
He wasn’t sure whether his original plan could still be used. This change outside his calculations made Ulysses frown.
When he looked at the Male Zerg again, his vigilance had risen to the absolute maximum.
Things had become complicated.
Even though the other party looked completely different from the Zerg in his memories from head to toe, legally, they were recognized as the same Zerg.
Originally, this would not have mattered much to Ulysses. It wasn’t as though he absolutely had to marry that particular Male Zerg. But this Male Zerg was clearly far more sophisticated, and therefore more dangerous. Even Ulysses was no longer certain whether he could emerge from this unscathed.
No. From the moment a Female Zerg chose to enter a marriage, there had never been any possibility of emerging completely unscathed. The only difference was how much he would lose, how much he would ultimately gain, and whether he could accept the price.
Originally, Ulysses had been ninety percent certain.
Now, he wasn’t sure.
This was an unstable factor, filled with variables. Perhaps it would push everything toward an unforeseen outcome—the worst possible outcome.
Ulysses did not stay long. Using his heavy military workload as an excuse, he temporarily left the house that now contained a Male Zerg, even forgetting to retrieve the documents he had originally intended to get from the study.
But documents he was willing to leave in this house were not particularly important in the first place. Ulysses paused for only an instant before continuing forward, choosing not to turn back for them.
Perhaps there was a hint of avoidance involved.
This newly appeared Male Zerg made him uneasy. He worried that he might suffer a devastating setback because of him, just like those Female Zergs who had fallen into the quagmire of marriage.
An Ruo wasn’t quite accustomed to Ulysses suddenly leaving like this, but fortunately, he had always been highly adaptable and quickly accepted the current situation.
Back when he had been in the Military Region Prison, Ulysses had also appeared suddenly and then suddenly left—the kind of sudden where he literally tore open space.
After their marriage, Ulysses, as Marshal, likewise had many matters to deal with. It was just that they lived together, so they could see each other for much of the day. Ulysses would even come find him during his lunch breaks, so An Ruo had never felt his absences particularly strongly.
Now, things had merely returned to how they had been when they first started spending time together.
An Ruo had an entire enormous villa all to himself. Other than him, there were only a few robot Zergs handling various household affairs.
He thought this was an excellent opportunity to write.
While Ulysses was away, he tidied up a room to use as a study and shut himself inside.
He did not choose Ulysses’ original study. Ulysses had a special status, so his study was bound to contain plenty of confidential material. Whether something was actually classified or not, it still wasn’t something An Ruo ought to know about. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂
Sometimes maintaining a little private space was better for both of them, just as Ulysses never interfered with his writing.
He only climbed on top of him.
An Ruo threw the distracting thoughts out of his mind and focused on writing. For a time, his writing flowed as though divinely inspired, his ideas connecting seamlessly.
Not once during the past month had writing felt this effortless. The words flowed naturally from his fingertips, joining the flow of his thoughts to construct the story.
The robot Zerg outside passed the study several times and lingered outside the door, uncertain whether it should bring him something to eat or remind the esteemed Male Zerg to have a meal.
The intelligent system ran through a series of searches and ultimately chose, according to the usual practices of Male Zerg households after marriage, to ask the Female Lord of the household first.
At the Military Region, Ulysses received a message saying that the Male Zerg had spent the entire afternoon inside the room at the end of the second-floor corridor without coming out. The robot butler asked whether it should go inside to check on him or remind the Male Zerg to eat.
He was an adult Male Zerg.
Surely he wouldn’t starve himself to death.
Ulysses had no intention of interfering. Even though, according to what marriage required of a Female Lord, he was supposed to do exactly that—take care of every one of the Male Zerg’s needs, from clothing and food to housing and transportation, without overlooking a single detail.
Ulysses turned off his private terminal, yet the words he had just read still flashed through his mind.
The Male Zerg had been busy doing something in the room at the end of the corridor all afternoon. Who knew what he was doing in {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} there?
The room at the end of the corridor... It offered considerable privacy, was on the same floor as the master bedroom, and was close by. It was quite suitable for use as a punishment room, or perhaps as the Male Zerg’s entertainment room.
Ulysses formed a conjecture.
The Male Zerg was probably arranging his playroom. After spending an entire afternoon setting it up, it was surely going to be quite something.
The Male Zerg certainly seemed exceptionally invested in it.
A trace of mockery flashed through Ulysses’ eyes.
Although the other party was not that Male Zerg, all Male Zergs were fundamentally the same. Moreover, he possessed the exact same identity as that Male Zerg, making it even easier to associate their behavior with one another.
Ulysses could uncover neither this Male Zerg’s true identity nor any other information about him, so he could only approach him with even greater caution.
Ulysses remained at Military Headquarters for a week. After finishing some matters, he deliberately cleared an entire day and prepared to return home, taking the opportunity to see the punishment room the Male Zerg had prepared for him.
Since the stage had already been built, wouldn’t it be a shame if there were no actor?
Before leaving, he changed into a white shirt instead of his military uniform.
Blood would show especially clearly on white.
As he walked through the Military Region, he overheard the military Female Zergs discussing some novel.
In fact, he had frequently heard similar discussions over the past few days.
A romance between a Female Zerg and a Male Zerg. A Male Lord from the future meeting his Female Lord when the latter was still young, beginning a love story filled with affection and tolerance, as well as the novelty of getting to know each other all over again.
Ulysses scoffed at the idea and had no interest whatsoever.
Only Female Zergs who had little experience of the world and still harbored fantasies about Male Zergs would be attracted to a story like that.
But as the craze intensified, the contents of the book spread throughout the entire Military Region, and even across the entire Federation. Discussions could be heard everywhere, and even Ulysses could not help feeling somewhat concerned.
He didn’t know whether allowing so many Female Zergs to immerse themselves in beautiful fantasies about Male Zergs and romance was really a good thing.
But he had no time to interfere with such matters right now, nor did it fall within his jurisdiction.
For now, he needed to deal with his own affairs first.
Standing outside the villa, Ulysses straightened the cuffs of his pristine white shirt and pushed open the door.
The house was quiet.
A few more traces of a Male Zerg’s daily life had appeared in the living room.
A vase filled with brightly colored flowers had been placed on the table. An intricately patterned woven blanket covered the sofa, accompanied by several soft cushions in adorable shapes. A three-tiered tray filled with fruit and snacks sat on the coffee table, and a painting created with a Male Zerg’s Psychic Power now hung on the wall...
Ulysses stared at the painting for a while.
It depicted a garden beneath the night sky, with a Male Zerg and Female Zerg standing side by side. There were no defined lines or meticulous details in the painting, only blocks of color, making their facial features impossible to discern. All that could be seen was that the Female Zerg had long black hair, while the Male Zerg had long hair as luminous as moonlight.
Ulysses stood silently in place for a moment.
Then he withdrew his gaze, questioned the robot butler, and headed upstairs.
The Male Zerg was still inside the room at the end of the corridor.
According to the robot butler’s report, he spent most of every day in that room and only came out to eat, sleep, or occasionally enjoy the scenery in the garden.
That surprised Ulysses.
The visitor records were completely clean. He was certain no other Female Zerg had come here.
Then what exactly did the Male Zerg do alone in that room?
Surely he wasn’t playing with himself?
Or perhaps he was constructing some meticulous plan, repeatedly rehearsing exactly how he would use all those implements?
Ulysses admitted that he could not understand this Male Zerg.
But as long as he was a Male Zerg, there could not be much fundamental difference.
Ulysses believed all the answers would reveal themselves once he stepped through that door.
He stopped in front of the room and knocked.
The keen hearing of a top-tier Female Zerg allowed him to hear the sound of a chair shifting inside, followed by hurried yet light footsteps.
Click.
The door opened.
The Male Zerg’s delighted face appeared before him, and he immediately broke into a smile. His pleasant voice followed.
“Ulysses! You’re back~”
An Ruo’s eyes were filled with delight.
The moment he heard the knock, he knew Ulysses had returned. The robot butler only used the call bell accompanied by a voice announcement. Ulysses was the only one who knocked like this.
He had not seen Ulysses for a long time.
While writing, he hadn’t noticed the passage of time, but now that Ulysses was standing before him, An Ruo suddenly realized how much he had missed him.
He wanted to throw himself into Ulysses’ arms.
He wanted to wrap his arms around his waist.
He wanted to hug him.
The last remnants of his rationality still managed to suppress the impulse, making him ask about Ulysses first.
“You haven’t been back for so long. You must’ve been really busy and exhausted, right? Have you eaten yet? Do you want to eat something first, then take a bath and get some proper rest? Oh, right! I found this really delicious fruit. I want you to try it...”
An Ruo chattered away as he reached for Ulysses’ hand.
The first time, he grabbed nothing. Thinking he had simply missed, he paid it no attention and reached out again, this time taking Ulysses’ hand and pulling him downstairs.
Ulysses stiffly followed the Male Zerg out.
At the instant he turned around, he looked past the Male Zerg into the room behind him.
It did not resemble the punishment room he had imagined.
There was a desk and chair inside. Pure white translucent curtains fluttered in the sunlight. On the light screen atop the desk, which had not yet been put away, was a half-finished manuscript.
Some of the words on it looked strangely familiar...
This was a study.
Ulysses only had time to glance at it and memorize the general contents of the text before the Male Zerg pulled him away.
His entire body stiff, he followed behind the Male Zerg, staring at the hand holding his.
The touch was warm and soft.
It reminded him again of the Male Zerg’s bright eyes when he saw him just now, his cheerful voice, and his radiant smile.
It was enough to make a Female Zerg fall in love.
This Male Zerg was far too skilled.
Ulysses calmly analyzed the situation. After trembling slightly, his silver eyes filled with vigilance.
The Male Zerg was still happily sharing one thing after another, his pleasant voice brushing past Ulysses’ ears with a warm, tingling sensation.
He talked about the delicious fruit he had eaten, a sweet and juicy golden fruit that Ulysses absolutely had to try.
He said he hadn’t been able to find the kind of roasted meat he used to enjoy in the robot chef’s menu database, which was a little disappointing.
He said Ulysses hadn’t come home for the past few days.
He missed him a little.
Ulysses’ silver eyes remained fixed on the Male Zerg’s back as he continued coldly analyzing the meaning behind his words.
When a Male Zerg told a Female Zerg that he missed him, it usually meant he wanted to sleep with him.
This was outside Ulysses’ original plan.
That Male Zerg’s rank had been far too low compared with his own, making him incapable of marking Ulysses. His personality was also twisted, and he delighted in tormenting Female Zergs stronger than himself through cruel means.
According to Ulysses’ original expectations, his married life would have been spent entirely inside the punishment room.
But now...
The Male Zerg before him was clearly different.
He was capable of marking him.
Ulysses thought that perhaps he was about to experience things he had never anticipated.
Since he was already willing to use his own body as a piece on the board in pursuit of that future, he would not care about sacrificing a little more of it.
He could simply treat it as being bitten by a star beast.
But the mark of a high-ranking Male Zerg was different after all.
He might be influenced by the mark and lose the ability to make rational judgments concerning this Male Zerg.
He might also...
Become softhearted toward him and find himself unable to strike.
He might even become bound by his commands, unable to break free.
Ulysses resisted the thought of things developing in that direction.
