Chapter 92: Chapter 92: A Windfall Title

"Knights! They’re real Knights!"

Panic was written all over the Guard Captain’s face.

But more than panic, he was filled with confusion. ’The war has only just begun; how could Knights be fighting on the front lines so soon?’

’Doesn’t the opposing Diamond Town only have two Knights? Have they all been sent to the front? If so, should an uprising break out in their rear, Diamond Town would collapse from within. Aren’t they worried at all?’

’He knew that Long Eagle Town of the Wata Duchy, the town behind him, also had two Knight powerhouses, but neither had left its walls. Across all the various defensive fronts, there wasn’t a single Knight. And now, two enemy Knights had appeared on the Northwest Defense Line alone. What could they possibly do?’

"Messenger! Messenger!"

The Guard Captain shouted hysterically. ’This news has to be relayed to the Baron of Long Eagle Town at once.’

Di Baen and Selvin faced the endless tide of enemy soldiers, seemingly unconcerned.

Using their Giant Swords as conduits, sharp streams of Sword Qi raged forth, reducing the swarming enemy soldiers to mangled flesh and a rain of blood amidst the whistling onslaught.

This terrifying scene of slaughter sent a chill down the enemy’s spines.

In just a short time, twenty to thirty enemy lives had been mercilessly reaped.

The distant archers’ fingers were raw and bleeding from their bowstrings, but the volleys of arrows they fired were blocked by an invisible wall of air surrounding the two Knights. Though there were only two of them, they gave off the oppressive presence of an impregnable fortress wall.

"No retreat! Anyone who falls back will die!"

The Guard Captain brandished his Cross Sword, waving it high in the distance, his entire arm trembling.

Forced by the Guard Captain, the frontline soldiers could only brace themselves and charge. This time, they didn’t advance in waves to feed the enemy kills, but surged forward together in a dense horde. Even when some were cut in two by Sword Qi, others still charged on, trampling the bodies of their comrades underfoot.

"Such fearless bastards..."

Di Baen muttered under his breath. As he watched the enemy soldiers begin to close in, not a trace of panic flickered in his eyes.

Selvin remained silent, every swing of the Giant Sword in his hand claiming several lives.

At last, thanks to their comrades’ desperate push at the cost of their own lives, some soldiers finally broke through to Di Baen and Selvin.

As the enemy Guards brandished their Long Spears and thrust toward the hearts of Di Baen and Selvin, Di Baen let out a great roar.

From the already terrifying and bloodstained Giant Sword, a great ball of searing flame suddenly erupted. It transformed into a fire serpent, incinerating the soldiers before him.

At the same time, Selvin swung his greatsword, stirring up a Hurricane. The wind and fire mingled, instantly sweeping into the ranks of enemy soldiers.

In an instant, a wave of screams erupted.

The enemy soldiers, who had just been desperately attacking, completely shattered. In a mad panic, they trampled over one another as they began to flee.

The corpses covering the ground were trampled beyond recognition as blood flowed freely across the ground.

Not far away, Vili, who was just arriving, witnessed this terrifying display of Extraordinary Power.

His pupils constricted, his expression turning to one of shock.

"They’re... Senior Knights!!"

The Frost Knight Breathing Technique contained a detailed description of Knight Powerhouses.

When one masters the breathing method and the Combined Techniques, the first wisp of Fighting Spirit is generated within the body. After a long period of continuous honing and accumulation, this Fighting Spirit reaches a certain threshold and undergoes a qualitative change. This allows the Cultivator to infuse their entire body with Fighting Spirit, gaining the boon of Extraordinary Power. This is a Junior Knight.

Next, once a Junior Knight can perfectly coordinate their breathing method and Combined Techniques, they can release the Fighting Spirit within them through a medium or directly, achieving Fighting Spirit Detachment. This is a Middle Knight.

In the final stage, a Middle Knight further refines their Fighting Spirit. Upon undergoing another transformation, they gain control over certain Supernatural Powers.

It could be Huo Lie, Hurricane, or Light... This is all determined by the attributes of the Knight’s Breathing Technique. For example, if Vili were to become a Senior Knight, he would control the Power of Ice granted by his Frost Breath Technique.

However, the Senior Knight stage was exceedingly difficult to reach. Even Baron Kels and Olay only had the Cultivation of Middle Knights. So, the realization that Di Baen and Selvin were actually Senior Knights truly shocked Vili.

"They’re actually... Senior Knights..."

The enemy Guard Captain watched his fleeing subordinates, his face ashen.

’Against powerhouses of this caliber, even our two Knights from Long Eagle Town would be forced to flee in disarray.’

’He felt as if he could already see the outcome of the border standoff between Long Eagle Town and Diamond Town...’

After a long moment, he finally gripped his Cross Sword tightly and shouted with grief and indignation, "Retreat!"

Hearing the enemy’s order to retreat, Di Baen and Selvin stopped in their tracks. Looking at Vili and his men arriving in the distance, they knew they didn’t need to interfere in what came next.

"Thank you both for your assistance."

Vili wasted no more words. Leading the dozens of Guards behind him, he launched the final charge.

Against an enemy that had completely lost its will to fight and was now fleeing in disarray, Vili’s few dozen men were like ferocious lions, swiftly overrunning the defensive line.

Any stragglers who were too slow to escape were caught; they were either killed or taken as prisoners.

The final assault lasted little more than ten minutes before it was all over.

Just as Vili was about to inspect the aftermath of the victory, the Title Attribute Panel abruptly popped up before his eyes.

"You have led your subordinates to victory in your first battle. Title acquired: [Junior Commander]. Reward: 0.5 attribute points."

"With the [Junior Commander] title, the soldiers under your command will have their solidarity naturally increased, reducing internal friction. Furthermore, when you personally command them in battle, your soldiers’ morale will be significantly boosted."

[Vili Ferren—Constitution: 4; Intelligence: 3; Remaining Attribute Points: 1]

’I can get a reward for this?’

Vili suddenly felt like he’d gotten something for nothing. He’d only been responsible for cleaning up the battlefield, yet he’d received a title for it.

"A title for free..."

Vili muttered to himself.

"What did you say, sir?"

Sandoor, at his side, hadn’t heard clearly and thought Vili was speaking to him.

Vili shook his head. "It’s nothing. I was just saying..."

"Hmm, the war between the two duchies will likely continue, but Diamond Town’s crisis should be over soon..."

Vili glanced at the two Senior Knights in the distance, a look of envy and anticipation in his eyes.
