"Lord Baron?"

A flash of confusion appeared in Vili’s eyes.

Ever since he had arrived at the border defense line, Baron Kels had never sent him a message directly. Usually, any missions related to the war were delivered by Cres.

"Come in."

Vili answered.

A Guard walked in respectfully. He handed Vili a sealed document before turning and exiting the tent.

Vili glanced at it. The document’s cover was blank, save for a rhombus-shaped diamond insignia stamped on the bottom right corner.

This was the exclusive seal for documents sent personally by Baron Kels.

Vili opened the document and began to read its contents.

Half a minute later, a look of surprise surfaced in Vili’s eyes.

Two of the five Knights sent by Count Lumbar to reinforce Diamond Town had arrived today. These two Knights would head to the Northwest Defense Line tomorrow to assist him in a surprise attack.

This news had only been passed to him and Cres. The purpose was to avoid internal disputes among the Guard Captains over the initial allocation of the Knights. Otherwise, anyone who learned of this would be scrambling to request support from the Baron.

Vili knew this was the Baron showing him favor. His foundation on the border defense line was currently the weakest, and the Lord Baron needed him to secure a major victory to establish his prestige.

「The next day.」

Vili and Sandoor, along with a few Guards, waited at the entrance to the camp.

It wasn’t until noon that two Knights mounted on Armored Horses arrived at the Northwest Defense Line’s camp.

"Are you Knights Selvin and Di Baen?"

"The Lord Baron has already given me my orders. I am to carry out a surprise attack on the enemy, with you two as the core of the assault."

’Two Knights like Di Baen and Selvin are comparable to over two hundred regular Guards, and I only have a little over a hundred men under my command. It’s only logical that we play a supporting role.’

"In that case, let’s just launch a direct assault tonight!"

Di Baen said without a moment’s hesitation, "I’ve heard the Wata Duchy has about two hundred soldiers stationed at this defense line. He flinched. Looking closer, he saw two armored riders on horseback, rapidly approaching.

A strange expression crossed the sentry’s face. He hesitated, wondering if he should sound the alarm for an enemy attack.

’Is this really an attack? An attack by just two people?’

After a moment’s hesitation, however, he gave the signal and shouted back toward the camp, "We’ve got movement! Someone’s approaching!"

After shouting, he began to fall back toward the camp. His cry had already given away his position, and he couldn’t rule out the possibility that these two had reinforcements from the Lanton Duchy behind them.

As the sentry shouted, the entire Wata Duchy defense line was thrown into a commotion.

Torches were lit one by one, and armored soldiers began to gather at the line.

"What’s the situation?"

A Guard Captain, who appeared to be in charge, frowned as he watched the two approaching figures.
