Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Frost Knight Breathing Technique

"There are some matters with the Personal Guard Team that I need to handle. I have to return to Diamond Town immediately."

Vili returned to his room and gave them a brief explanation.

"Are you in that much of a hurry? You haven’t even finished your dinner..." Mrs. Shaven frowned.

Lake had the exact opposite reaction, waving his hand. "Go on, don’t delay your official business."

"Goodbye!" Vilia waved at Vili.

After saying goodbye to his family, Vili walked out of the room. Hesitating for a moment, he went to Wally’s bear den, opened the wooden door, and pulled out Wally, who was in the middle of eating. Leaning close to Wally’s ear, he whispered, "Protect the family well, understand?"

Vili wasn’t entirely sure if Wally could understand his words, but he still had to try and give the instruction.

Olay’s assassination attempt completely exceeded Vili’s expectations; it could very well be the opening signal of a war. He was no longer the same as before. Now that he had stepped into the core of Diamond Town’s power, there was no guarantee that someone wouldn’t target him or his family in secret.

Wally’s bright little eyes darted around. It opened its mouth, licked Vili’s cheek, and then nodded vigorously.

"Did it understand?" Vili still wasn’t sure, but Wally’s actions at least gave him some peace of mind.

Based on Vili’s estimation, Wally’s current strength was at least at the Senior Knight’s Squire level. One step further, and it would become a Bronze Level Magical Beast. This should be more than enough to protect the family.

"I’m counting on you," Vili whispered another instruction to Wally. "Also, don’t lick people. You’re a bear, not a dog."

Under Wally’s reluctant gaze, Vili leaped onto Morion’s warhorse.

"How are the teacher’s injuries?" Vili asked Morion from the back of the galloping horse.

Morion’s tone was heavy. "The injuries are severe. The one who ambushed Lord Olay was a Knight."

"A Knight..." Vili felt his heart grow increasingly heavy.

During the previous assassination attempt on Baron Kels, the mastermind behind the scenes, the Wata Duchy, had only deployed a few Senior Knight’s Squires. But this time, they had sent out a Knight directly.

"But you don’t need to worry, Lord Olay’s life isn’t in danger. Fortunately, Lord Olay is formidable. After clashing head-on with the attacker, he managed to injure the assailant as well. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable."

Morion naturally had a dark cloud looming over his own heart. Everything he had relied on Diamond Town. If something disastrous happened to the town, all he possessed would vanish into thin air.

The two men spoke no more, merely rushing toward Diamond Town under the cover of night.

Diamond Town, the Baron’s Manor.

Inside a recovery room, Olay sat bare-chested, blood-seeping white bandages wrapped from his chest to his back. During their brief exchange, the Knight Level attacker had driven a longsword imbued with Sword Qi straight through his right chest.

Baron Kels and Bamos sat beside Olay. Both wore grave expressions, their faces looking terrible.

"Are you saying you’ve never seen the Knight who ambushed you?" Baron Kels absentmindedly rubbed his ring, deep in thought.

Olay nodded. "That’s right. Although he was masked, I’ve never encountered someone with his build or fighting habits. I can almost guarantee he is an outsider. Unless there’s some unexpected twist, the mastermind should also be... the Wata Duchy."

"This is too much!" Ever since becoming the Baron’s heir, Bamos had never felt such immense pressure on his shoulders.

When two nations clashed, the ones who suffered the most were always the Little Lords caught in the middle.

"Lord Baron." After a knock on the door, before Kels could even grant entry, a Personal Guard rushed inside.

The expressions on Kels, Olay, and Bamos simultaneously turned grim. A Personal Guard would only disregard normal protocol if an urgent intelligence report had arrived.

"News from Storm Town." The Personal Guard handed a tightly sealed envelope to Baron Kels and turned to leave.

"Storm Town..." Baron Kels narrowed his eyes, seeming to realize something. He tore open the envelope and scanned the brief text. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

Sighing, he looked up at Olay and Bamos, who were waiting for the news. "Knight Naver of Storm Town was ambushed and killed."

"Knight Naver is dead?" Bamos gasped in shock.

Olay’s face turned extremely ugly, though a fleeting trace of lingering fear and relief seemed to flash through his eyes.

Knight Naver was the younger brother of Baron Nando of Storm Town. He had just been promoted to the Knight Level a couple of years ago. While he was no match for Olay, he wasn’t someone an ordinary person could harm. Being assassinated like this meant he must have also encountered a Knight Level assassin.

"Is a war about to start?" Bamos couldn’t remain as calm as his father. It felt like a situation he dreaded deeply was on the verge of unfolding.

Baron Kels shook his head. "War won’t start that quickly. At the very least, it will have to wait until the Dukes of both nations issue a war decree simultaneously. Otherwise, not even Count Lumbar can start a war on his own authority."

Bamos let out a sigh of relief, but Baron Kels’s next words made his heart leap into his throat once more.

"However, even if a full-scale war isn’t officially declared, small-scale skirmishes are fast approaching... This is not good news for us." Baron Kels made a decision. "Diamond Town must enter a state of war ahead of schedule. Starting tomorrow, have the Town Hall draft wartime policies to be issued soon. Then, recall all elite personnel stationed outside and deploy them to reinforce the border defenses.

"Also, Bamos, we can’t wait to slowly build your core team over time. You must start forming and expanding it right now."

Once war broke out, Baron Kels simply wouldn’t have the energy to manage everything on his own.

Bamos nodded. "I will start building my team with Vili and Bisen at the core."

"But..." Bamos fell silent for a moment. "Bisen as the core of the Civil Servant line is fine, but Vili... he’s been in Diamond Town for too short a time. Furthermore, his strength seems somewhat lacking..."

In Bamos’s eyes, Vili needed to reach the Advanced Knight Squire Level to command respect. Currently, his true combat power was only that of a Middle Level Knight’s Squire.

Hearing this, Baron Kels didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he looked at Olay. "What do you think?"

Meeting Baron Kels’s sharp gaze, Olay had already guessed what the Baron was thinking.

"My thoughts align with yours, Lord Baron," Olay smiled slightly.

Baron Kels laughed heartily, the previous gravity he had displayed vanishing completely. In its place was a chilling sharpness. "Desperate times call for desperate measures... Improving Vili’s strength is easy. The prerequisite, of course, is that his talent meets the standard."

"Father, do you mean..." Bamos had also guessed the Baron’s intentions.

Baron Kels handed down his decision. "Teach him the Frost Knight Breathing Technique!"
