Chapter 120: Chapter 120: An Exceptionally Powerful Pirate Gang
"Sir Vili."
Vili had just left the docks with the guards when he saw a man on a fine horse, dressed as a guard, waiting for him.
Upon seeing him, the man quickly dismounted and walked over.
"What is it?"
Vili recognized the man. He was a messenger from Baron Enton’s Personal Guard.
"The Lord Baron has prepared lunch. He invites you and Sir Dane to join him."
The messenger stated his purpose directly.
Vili nodded lightly. ’Lunch is secondary. The real purpose must be to brief me on the next steps for fending off the Pirates.’
"We’ll head over right away."
Vili responded.
After receiving Vili’s reply, the messenger bowed, mounted his horse, and rode off. ℴℴ𝘮
Vili didn’t hesitate. He called over to Dane, briefly explained the situation, and they headed to Baron Enton’s Manor together.
In contrast to Baron Kels’s manor, Baron Enton’s Manor was decorated in a much more lavish and flamboyant style. As Vili saw it, the manor had a hint of the Baroque style from the Middle Ages of his past life.
’Perhaps being so close to the ocean allowed the manor designers of Blue Whale Town to have more unbridled imaginations.’
"Knight Vili."
Just as Vili and Dane stepped into the dining hall, a middle-aged man with salt-and-pepper hair rose to his feet and greeted him.
He wore a black, informal dress coat. His figure was slightly portly, and his narrow eyes looked quite sharp.
This man was Baron Enton of Blue Whale Town.
Beside Baron Enton, Jarvis and Condas also stood up. Below them were several core members of Blue Whale Town’s Personal Guard.
"Baron Enton."
Vili nodded slightly and walked to the empty seat immediately to Baron Enton’s right, which had been specially reserved for him. Across from him was Jarvis.
By placing Vili in this seat, Baron Enton was showing him the utmost respect.
Even Condas, a veteran Knight of Blue Whale Town, was seated below Jarvis.
"Now that Knight Vili has arrived, let us begin the meal."
Baron Enton gave the butler a look.
The butler nodded and gestured to the servants.
Then, a succession of delicacies were laid upon the table.
"Everyone, on behalf of Blue Whale Town, I would first like to thank the benevolent Baron Kels and the brave Knight Vili. It is because of your assistance that we have been able to withstand wave after wave of raids from the Pirates."
As he spoke, Baron Enton raised his glass, filled with red wine, and gestured to Vili in thanks.
Seeing this, Jarvis, Condas, and the other Knights also raised their glasses.
They held a fair amount of respect for Vili. In the beginning, everyone, including Baron Enton, had their reservations about Vili. Although they had secured his help, the relationship between the two towns had not been amicable. They all worried that Vili and his guards would just go through the motions, which would have been a very troublesome matter.
However, after half a month, everyone found that this young Knight strictly abided by the agreement between the two towns. When fending off the invading Pirates, he held nothing back and never slacked off. Even his guards were kept under Dane’s strict discipline, contributing immense strength to Blue Whale Town’s defense.
Thus, everyone’s perception of Diamond Town had changed without them even realizing it, and this, in a way, also soothed the relations between the two towns.
"Everything I have done has been the will of Lord Baron Kels and falls within the scope of my duties. There is no need for such courtesy, Baron Enton."
Vili gave a very formal reply.
Hearing this, Baron Enton laughed heartily, raised his cup, and drained it in one go.
Vili and the others followed suit, downing the fine wine.
"Once spring has passed and the Pirates have quieted down, I hope to have more opportunities to discuss the Path of the Knight with you, Knight Vili."
Jarvis set down his wineglass and said to Vili with a smile.
He was adopted by Baron Enton as a child and showed astonishing talent in his youth. Now, only in his twenties, he had already reached the Peak of a Middle Knight. Barring any accidents, his promotion to Senior Knight was only a matter of time.
A man as gifted as Jarvis naturally looked down on ordinary people. However, in Vili’s sudden rise, he had found someone worth conversing with.
In his eyes, only a genius could speak the same language as another genius.
"Of course. Should the opportunity arise, I hope I can learn much from you, Knight Jarvis."
Vili replied smoothly.
After many days of observation, he had already figured out Jarvis’s temperament.
Arrogant and talented, he looked down on everyone. Even the slightest courtesy he showed was just for appearances.
Vili wasn’t particularly interested in that kind of person.
At Baron Enton’s behest, the lunch proceeded at a leisurely pace.
An hour later, the lunch was coming to an end.
At Baron Enton’s direction, the dishes were cleared away and replaced with dessert and drinks.
"Everyone, just this morning, I received a message from Viscount Babila."
Baron Enton suddenly announced at the table.
The moment Baron Enton finished speaking, the lively chatter at the table immediately fell silent.
Everyone present knew full well that what Baron Enton was about to say was the true purpose of today’s gathering.
Vili set his cup down, ready to listen.
"Just last night, a large Pirate Gang attacked Viscount Babila’s Oyster City."
Baron Enton’s tone was extremely grave. "The Pirate Gang is exceptionally strong, and numerous. There were more than five hundred of them!"
’More than five hundred people?’
Even Vili’s expression flickered.
’Although their individual combat strength can’t compare to the town guards, their numbers alone are on par with them.’
’Normally, pirates could never form a group of this size. The only reason they could gather so many people this time must be because the resource shortages this harsh winter forced multiple pirate factions to regroup.’
"The most terrifying part is that this group of Pirates is not only numerous, but also well-equipped and extremely formidable in combat. Their ships are very sturdy, their men are well-trained, and even... during the attack on Oyster City last night, five or more combatants with Knight Combat Power appeared."
As he said this, even Baron Enton’s face showed a grim expression.
"Five or more combatants with Knight Combat Power?"
Jarvis asked back in surprise. Of all the people present, only he would be so casual in front of Baron Enton.
"Yes, five... or perhaps even more combatants with Knight Combat Power."
Baron Enton’s words made everyone present feel immense pressure.
After all, Blue Whale Town, including Vili, currently only had four combatants with Knight Combat Power.
