I Transmigrated as a Peasant, but My System Wanna Make Me a Duke!
Chapter 107: Jarvis Arrives
Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Jarvis Arrives
Olay, like Meira, had gone to the nearby noble domains as Baron Kels’s envoy to deliver the Baron’s greetings and blessings. Because the distance between the domains was quite far, Olay likely wouldn’t be able to make it back before the banquet began.
"Bamos, you must also speed up your progress in practicing the Frost Knight Breathing Technique," Baron Kels urged, turning to Bamos. His tone, however, was light and relaxed.
"I know, Father," Bamos said with a shrug, downing the red wine in his glass in one gulp.
Since the outbreak of the war and the sending away of the Snow Pattern Deer, this was the first time Baron Kels had heard such good news. At this moment, Baron Kels only wanted to see Olay’s speechless expression of shock when he finally heard it.
Baron Kels was just about to take Bamos and Vili to a room behind the hall for a chat when a Personal Guard hurried over.
"Lord Baron, Knight Jarvis from Blue Whale Town has arrived, and he brought many gifts."
Upon hearing the Personal Guard’s words, Baron Kels’s brows unconsciously furrowed.
Bamos and Vili exchanged a glance, both seeing the confusion in each other’s eyes.
Knight Jarvis was Baron Enton’s man. He was the one who had led the interception of the Snow Pattern Deer on the road last time. Back then, he had a brief clash with Olay, fighting the veteran Middle Knight to a draw with the poise of a super genius.
As for Jarvis, neither Baron Kels of Diamond Town nor Baron Nando of Storm Town liked him one bit. He shared a very similar personality with the Lord of Blue Whale Town, Baron Enton—never understanding humility or courtesy. Yet, against all odds, he had risen to prominence in his youth, becoming the preeminent Genius Knight in the surrounding Baron’s Domains and even the Viscount’s domains.
This made the surrounding lords both loathe and envy him.
To put it more bluntly, this emotion was jealousy.
"Are you saying that Jarvis is here, and he brought a lot of gifts?" Bamos questioned the Guard.
According to the customs of previous years, Jarvis disdained acting as a New Year’s envoy. Another veteran knight of Blue Whale Town, Condas, usually took on this role, but he had never brought any gifts either.
But this time, not only did Jarvis come in person, but he also brought an abundance of gifts. This was highly abnormal.
"Yes, Young Master Bamos. The gifts Knight Jarvis brought filled two entire carriages," the Guard elaborated.
Vili stood off to the side, remaining silent.
Baron Kels pondered for a moment before saying, "Let’s go. We will welcome him at the hall entrance."
Vili followed behind Baron Kels and Bamos. Just as they reached the door, a young man walked in.
He wore a suit of silver-white Light Armor engraved with exquisite, hollowed-out patterns. A hand-and-a-half sword with a dark-bronze crab-claw crossguard hung from a sword ring at his waist. He had long blonde hair and an extremely handsome face. In particular, his sapphire-blue eyes made the nearby noblewomen and young ladies swoon.
Compared to this man, Vili’s appearance wasn’t bad either, but due to his youth, he lacked the mature charm that the other man exuded.
This was the renowned Genius Knight of Blue Whale Town, Jarvis.
Behind Jarvis stood four Knight’s Squires, each holding an exquisitely crafted wooden box of varying sizes.
"Jarvis, huh..."
This was Vili’s first time seeing Jarvis. Last time, Jarvis had left immediately after clashing with Olay, so Vili had never seen his true face.
Now that he saw the man in person, Vili had to admit that Jarvis carried an unparalleled arrogance that seeped deep into his bones.
"Lord Baron Kels, on behalf of Baron Enton of Blue Whale Town, I extend my most sincere New Year’s greetings to you." Jarvis’s smile carried an intense confidence. He placed his right hand over his heart and offered a standard knight’s salute to Baron Kels.
"I thank Baron Enton, and I will have to trouble you, Knight Jarvis, to bring my sincere greetings back to him." Baron Kels behaved quite appropriately; his attitude was as amiable as if he were greeting an old friend he hadn’t seen in a long time.
Jarvis gave a slight nod, then ordered the four Knight’s Squires behind him, "Open the boxes."
Following Jarvis’s command, the four Knight’s Squires simultaneously opened the wooden boxes in their hands.
The moment the boxes were opened, the surrounding guests unconsciously looked over. Immediately after, expressions of surprise and envy appeared on their faces. The women, in particular, looked so amazed and covetous that their gazes were practically tangible.
"This..."
Even Baron Kels was slightly taken aback.
Seeing this, Vili also took a look inside the four boxes, finally understanding why their contents elicited such a strong reaction.
In the first box laid a piece of crystal-clear, deep blue fishbone. At the very tip of the tailbone, an emerald-green, hexagonal gemstone was embedded.
In the second box, seven pale gold Pearls of identical size lay side by side. Each Pearl was three-quarters the size of an egg. None of them showed any signs of polishing, appearing to be entirely naturally formed.
The item in the third box was what made the women present the most jealous. It was a pendant with a spherical bead for a charm, containing flowing pale blue liquid. Enveloped within the liquid were multicolored diamonds, looking like a dream-like treasure submerged in the deep sea.
Inside the fourth box was a Fishbone Short Sword. It was snow-white all over and looked menacingly sharp.
These four exquisite and luxurious treasures could only be produced by Blue Whale Town, which was situated on the ocean border.
"These are all New Year’s gifts from Baron Enton to you, Lord Kels... There are also some other small gifts in the carriages outside. I hope you will accept them all together." Illuminated by the four magnificent treasures, Jarvis’s face appeared even more charming.
"I appreciate Baron Enton’s friendship, but these gifts are far too precious. Please take them back with you, Knight Jarvis."
Baron Kels naturally wouldn’t let these gifts go to his head. Although these items were precious, with his experience, he didn’t think much of them. What puzzled Baron Kels, however, was exactly what Baron Enton’s motive was for doing this.
When he had sent Olay to Blue Whale Town to deliver his greetings, he hadn’t sent any gifts along.
Yet this time, Blue Whale Town had not only dispatched Jarvis but also included so many gifts. He couldn’t figure it out.
"Please, you must accept them; otherwise, Baron Enton will blame me," Jarvis said with a light chuckle.
Baron Kels took a deep look at Jarvis. Pausing for a moment, he slowly said, "Then I will accept them. Knight Jarvis, please express my gratitude to Baron Enton."
