I Tame Beasts by Feeding

Chapter 69 - 68: Winner Takes All

Chapter 69: Chapter 68: Winner Takes All

"What a vicious fight. Several Qi Refining Cultivators have already died."

"Weren’t you just saying the Yu Family was doomed? It looks to me like the Chen Family is having trouble taking them down. It’s been almost the time it takes an incense stick to burn, and they’re still not finished."

"What’s the rush? Didn’t you see that the Chen Clan Leader, Chen Tianyun, and Chen Yuanbai have already charged in? They’ll likely be destroyed before long."

"A great Qi Refining Clan is going to be wiped out just like that? Aren’t the other clans in the city going to intervene?"

"Intervene? Didn’t you see the Tang Family has already joined the fray? How many clans in the city would dare to get involved? Even the Wei Family, who they used to be close with, has cut all ties. Heh heh heh."

"Huh? That’s... the Xi Family!"

The Qi Refining Cultivators watching from afar stopped their discussion, staring with wide eyes at the two approaching figures. In astonishment, one said, "The Xi Family! The Xi Family is actually making a move!"

Tang Tu Hong’s expression darkened. Raising his Great Cauldron, he demanded, "What is the meaning of this, Xi Family!"

One of the Xi Family’s Qi Refining Peak cultivators laughed. "What’s the meaning? We should be asking your Tang Family what you think you’re doing. This isn’t Dongyang City. Is it your place to meddle in affairs here?"

"Tang Tu Hong, leave. Let the Chen and Yu Families resolve their own conflict. Do not interfere again, or the two of us will have something to say about it!"

The other Qi Refining Peak cultivator from the Xi Family had already summoned his Ruyi Magical Artifact, his gaze locked firmly on Tang Tu Hong.

Meanwhile, with Tang Tu Hong occupied, Yu Taoran suddenly swung his sword and unleashed a ray of Sword Light, forcing Chen Mingze to fall back. "Tang Tu Hong!" Chen Mingze cried out in alarm. "Quick, help me!"

Tang Tu Hong gritted his teeth and sent the Great Cauldron smashing toward Yu Taoran’s back.

But the two Qi Refining Peak cultivators from the Xi Family were true to their word. The moment Tang Tu Hong acted, they joined forces and attacked.

BANG! The Ruyi Magical Artifact collided with the Great Cauldron. One of the Xi Family Cultivators formed a hand seal and launched a stream of Flame.

The Great Cauldron was hit and sent flying back toward Tang Tu Hong. Simultaneously, the other Xi Family Cultivator cast a spell, and a brilliant light erupted from the Ruyi Magical Artifact, enveloping the Great Cauldron.

Immediately, the Great Cauldron was frozen in mid-air.

Without the aid of the Great Cauldron, the pressure on Chen Mingze mounted. His previously arrogant and domineering demeanor gave way to a desperate struggle, leaving him in a wretched state.

"Hmph!" one of the Xi Family Cultivators sneered. "Make another move, and you won’t be leaving here either!"

Tang Tu Hong retorted angrily, "Do you really think I’m afraid of the Xi Family? Kill me, and my Tang Family will mobilize our entire clan to attack yours!"

"Heh heh heh... I don’t believe the Tang Family would take such a risk for your sake."

Then, the other, more hot-tempered Xi Family Cultivator shouted, "Don’t waste your breath on him! A good beating will make him see reason!"

Soon, the two Xi Family Cultivators were engaged in battle with Tang Tu Hong.

Meanwhile, Chen Mingze was reaching his limit.

"So you want to annihilate my Yu Family?"

"Then I’ll start by killing you!"

Yu Taoran’s voice was cold. Clutching his Wooden Sword, he dodged his opponent’s Great Saber and then suddenly slashed downward.

The Wooden Sword in his hand spontaneously burned to ash, but not before its Sword Power had taken shape. The Sword Qi shot toward Chen Mingze’s chest, tearing through the air with a sharp whistle.

"Ah!"

"Heavy Waves!"

Enraged at being suppressed, Chen Mingze roared. The Great Saber in his hand stirred up a wave of blue light. As he swung the blade, its saber power layered upon itself like one furious ocean wave after another.

One wielded a sword, the other a saber. Both were at the Peak of Qi Refining.

BOOM!

The two terrifying forces collided with a deafening explosion.

The Sword Qi and the saber wave churned up ripple after ripple of energy in mid-air.

Yu Taoran’s sword was sharper, but Chen Mingze’s saber was heavier—so heavy it could suppress the Sword Qi, preventing it from piercing through the crushing wave.

PFFT!

But it was Chen Mingze who spat out a mouthful of blood first. He had clearly been struck by the invisible Sword Intent; his body trembled, and an expression of pain crossed his face.

The Great Saber in his hand was trembling. Finally, he let out a furious roar.

"Break!"

He finally swung it through, the saber wave crushing the Sword Qi.

Yu Taoran staggered back several steps. His eyes narrowed, and another Wooden Sword appeared in his hand.

He wasn’t surprised by the result. After unleashing so many techniques in succession, his Magical Power was nearly depleted. He was only able to keep fighting because of his Sword Intent.

’That’s a fine saber,’ Yu Taoran thought, a glint in his eye. His figure shot toward his opponent as he began to gather his Sword Intent once more.

’Magical Artifacts are graded as upper, middle, and lower. His opponent’s is clearly a Top-Grade Magical Artifact, while my Wooden Sword doesn’t even qualify as Lower Grade. If I had a top-grade Magic Sword capable of withstanding my Sword Intent, I could have killed him in a single blow.’

’If one strike won’t kill him, two will.’

Just as Chen Mingze was catching his breath, Yu Taoran suddenly attacked. His Sword Qi morphed into a hundred-foot-long Sword Shadow.

Chen Mingze’s expression was utterly grim, but he had no choice. He could only swing his saber to meet the blow.

’In terms of speed, I can’t match Yu Taoran,’ he thought. ’Trying to dodge will just create an opening. It’s better to crush him head-on.’

"I scattered your Sword Qi once, and I can do it again!"

Chen Mingze roared, full of confidence.

This time, however, before the wave from his saber could even form, Yu Taoran’s sword was already in front of his eyes.

"What?!" He paled in horror.

"Who says a Sword Cultivator can only wield a sword in their hand? The Swordsmanship I’ve achieved Mastery in also includes the Sword Control Dao!"

Yu Taoran’s gaze was calm. At some point, in addition to the Wooden Sword in his hand, another had flown out while Chen Mingze was executing his Sword Skill, piercing toward his chest.

Chen Mingze tried to defend himself, but it was too late.

PFFT!

The half-formed saber wave dissipated. He clutched his Great Saber, his chest pierced through and gushing blood, his eyes filled with despair and unwillingness to accept his fate.

’This Sword Control Skill... it’s too fast. Impossible to defend against.’

"Spare... the other disciples of my Chen Family..."

Chen Mingze struggled to speak, spitting blood as he felt his life fading away.

"’Spare you? And who would have spared my Yu Family in the future?’ Yu Taoran said, walking past him and cleaving his body in two with a single slash of his sword.

The Sword Qi tore his remains into a bloody mist.

Meanwhile, Tang Tu Hong was still tied up by the two Xi Family Cultivators.

Although Tang Tu Hong had more combat experience than the two Xi Family Cultivators, he was no match for them when they joined forces.

Soon, he was wounded. He also witnessed the moment of Chen Mingze’s death.

’This is bad!’ Tang Tu Hong’s expression changed. He slapped his Great Cauldron, causing it to hum and shatter the white light from the Ruyi Magical Artifact. Then, taking the Great Cauldron with him, he rapidly retreated a thousand meters.

The two Xi Family Cultivators didn’t pursue him. They simply stood there in mid-air, watching. One of them glanced in Yu Taoran’s direction and murmured.

"’A Sword Cultivator who has comprehended Sword Intent is truly terrifying. To be able to kill the Chen Family’s old ancestor in just two moves after such a long battle...’

"’Heh heh... it’s just that the Chen Family ancestor’s Sword Skill was too clumsy. If he had been using the Wanxiang Sect’s Overlord Saber Technique, even someone with Yu Taoran’s excellent Swordsmanship would have been no match.’"

"’How can you compare a Cultivation Technique from the Wanxiang Sect with one from these Qi Refining Clans? There’s no comparison. Heh heh.’"

"’Alright, we’ve done what the Patriarch ordered. It’s time to go. As for Tang Tu Hong, whether he lives or dies is up to Yu Taoran now.’"

"’Mm, let’s go.’"

With that, the crisis threatening the Yu Family’s survival was resolved. The two Xi Family Cultivators immediately lost interest. Not wanting to take on any further risks, their figures flickered and vanished into thin air.

Yu Taoran, however, turned his gaze toward the distant Tang Tu Hong. He began to walk forward slowly. Even from a thousand meters away, Tang Tu Hong couldn’t help but feel an immense pressure bearing down on him!
